1. Short and simple but I always refer to Keith Ferguson as an example of heavy flatwound / 52 Precision thud:
2. No problem. I've had LaBella Jamersons on a 50s Precision, just some truss rod tweaking and a bit of a set up needed. Wont harm it at all.
3.
I just picked up a Mk2 version and so far it's an improvement on the Mk 1 I had. I got a diago adaptor do I can Daisy chain it albeit at 9 Volts. Going to try it driving a power amp next week
Let us know how it gets on with the power amp! Which one are you trying? I'm absolutely loving the MK2

Luke bought my BDDI. Great guy to deal with, paid promptly and stayed in touch.
5. Most lowish gain OD's with the gain down and volume up work pretty well
6. Waiting on one of these being delivered.......
7. The ABM's are great heads. If you want graphic EQ and tons of clean power, I can thoroughly recommend the JJ-500.
8. I really like nickel EXL 160's (105 - 50) on my 78 Precision.
9. Agreed, the ABM610 is one of the best cabs I've used.

11.
Quite, one shouldn't be afraid of maxing out the input gain, no damage can be done. I really need it up at 3 o'clock with my passive P-Bass to get a decent signal. And one needs a decent signal to give the amp something to work with! I think the general misunderstanding about the Input Gain question, added to the confusion over the Shape button, is what leads people to get entirely the wrong impression of Ashdown amps. Or the ABM at least, which is what I have direct experience of.
Very true, I almost max the input on my JJ-500 using a passive Fender Jazz. For even more drive and added grit I use an SFX Beta pedal. I think a lot of people miss just how much the gain structure is altered by the use of the EQ and the harmonic emphasis on this particular head too.
12.
Yes, yes, yes - I play in a blues band called "Money Honey" named after this track and use a repro 53P complete with the appropriate resistor containing wiring, phenolic saddles and big fat flats to get as close to this sound as possible. A valve head and 2x10 cabinet helps too.
Keith really was the man for Texas blues

14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svK4hZB0nKk Keith Ferguson. I always point towards the opening bass riff - 52 precision and heavy flats.
15. Gary bought my Gator rack case. Drove over, picked it up and slapped the cash in me hand! A good guy to deal with - cheers!
16. Cant see a problem with it really. The "environmental reasons" is a load of old tosh if you as me. Businesses have been trying to use their green credentials as a sales pitch for years, the new packaging will no doubt be cheaper and if it stops the strings tarnishing the thats all good. I like Rotos!
17. Brilliant book! A real must for any fan of Keith - one of my all time favourite bass players. As well as those early T-Birds records, his stuff with the Tail Gators and the two Solid Senders albums are incredible. He also played with the Excellos but I don't think there are any recordings
