if we could maybe keep this thread updated to what is best for wear and tear. I have a mate a uni who has the M80 and he says it is starting to fall apart after 18 months. Tbf thought it will have been used everyday
Good idea. Im still extremely happy with my M80. For years I used standard bags for my bass, the Ritter RB700 was rather good but the strap pin went through the bottom, they have altered the design slightly to avoid this. The Warwicks aren't bad and I still use mine for my fretless. One's to avoid like the plague are the CBN's, they're dreadful, mine fell apart in about 6 months. Guitar Guitar replaced it for me but they just don't have any quality to them at all. OK, they're only £30 but you would expect them to last more than 6 months. A good gig bag is up there with earplugs, ie, worth the investment. Dan

I agree with Wooten, I like the 'solos' that groove. I used to love all that twiddly stuff but then learnt its not about all that and the bass has to hold everything down and groove. Solos to me say 'Look at me, aren't I great at shredding this scale at mach 5!' Of course not all soloists are like this. I always decline a solo and instead work something with the drums. Some triplet stabs, pauses, phrases, accent certain drum parts. Something that resolves on the one and come down with the groove again. Dan

As the others have said, take your head to a shop and try it through other cabs. Manufacturers will always say their heads work best through their cabs. But it's ultimately what your ears will take to the most. I love Ampeg cabs but cant stand their heads, my playing just doesn't seem to work with them, same for MB heads and TC, yet I can get a good sound out of MB cabs but not Aguilar cabs. Different horses and that. Play around and see what comes up best with your playing! Dan

I would imagine it would be 2 pole. Unscrew the casing at the plug and you'll see either 2 or 4 wires. Though the connections on the heads/cabs will all be the same. To my limited knowledge. Dan

Good find! Makes sense to and I'll give it a try, I'll post my score up! Dan

"less is more". Imagine saying that to your guitarist! They'd have you hung drawn and quartered! Dan

The best groove playing ive ever heard...

Excellent, good find as always B5. Dan -
In a band that was put together for the parents of 3 of the band members, we did Hit Me. I thoroughly enjoyed playing that one, the band loved to drive the groove, the sax player would just blow and squeak the solo brilliantly well, and my Dad loved to hear it. He played trombone in the band and was happy to sit that one out just to listen to it. It really was just for us that track, it split the audience in half to, those my parents age who remember it and those too young to have heard of it. Dan

im pleased I read this as Im looking at a MB cab cover! Roqsolid it is then! Dan

Such a shame, I never used your shop. There seems to be a decrease in the number of bass only shops which is such sad thing to see. Good bass players are always in demand, shame this demand can't keep the bass only shops in play. All the best for your new ventures. Dan

I got my M80, absolutely brilliant! Very well built and have every confidence in it protecting my pride and joy. its a good job its waterproof as it chucked it down for the first night I used it! Highly recommended! Dan

Iv had a 410 transporter cab before and really liked it, good sound and reliable as anything! Dood gives good advice and you can always ring Mr. Hartke himself. If you didn't know he famously put his mobile number in his ads and if he doesn't answer, leave a message and he will get back to you. Hope you get sorted! Dan
I think you'll be well pleased with the Mono - I've got the double. The only gigbag I've found to be better is a Levy's one which comes with Dingwalls...and apparently you can't buy. I feel hard cases are only necessary if you are using a band van - my basses lay on the back seat as I've got a relatively small car too (Ibiza).
Cheers! Ill be up first thing in the morning to make sure I don't miss the delivery bloke! Ibiza?! Relatively small car?! Thats luxury! Dan

Just ordered the Mono M80, I should get it tomorrow and will report back! Thanks for the thoughts everyone! Dan
Find a simple, steady-tempo song by one of your favourite bands, that you know how to play. Then keep playing along to it. Once you`ve got it, try playing the song without the actual music going, and time yourself. Repeat this a few times, if you`ve got the timing ok, you should be within a couple of seconds each time you play it. Must admit, I`ve never heard of anyone else using this method though, but it works for me, especially if I`m learning a song where the bass is keeping the time, rather than the drums (which may only be playing in the chorus, for example).
Cracking idea! I always played to cd's when I was learning so learned cd timing. I find the trick is to play slowly, and less. Playing a little less should give you a feel for when the clicks are, its a common habit to rush/play ahead of the metronome or drummer learning. We all did it, I know I certainly did! Ultimately take your time and practice, it'll come to you. Dan

Lozz, I have a hardcase but its so damn big, and I only drive a Micra. I used it when I worked on a ferry for obvious reasons, but for everyday use its a bit bulky. Thank you for your thoughts though Dan.

AAAaaarr dont throw another one in the mix! The M80 looks like a better design with the gap for the end pin, but then the F1 is reinforced and to me looks slightly better. I really don't know! The Protec is only water resistant where as the F1 and M80 are waterproof, and they aren't that much more. I'd ask my girlfriend but she won't look at them as they dont have flowers on them. Dan

Hey everyone! Iv just come into an amount of bread and was going to treat myself. No Im not buying anyones bass on here before you all start! As something to remember my Dad by I was going to get a top end gig bag to use with my StringRay he got me 10 years ago. Iv narrowed down my choice to either the Fusion F1; http://www.fusion-bags.com/products-in-guitar-gig-bags/f1-bass-guitar-blue-21157 Or the Mono M80; http://www.monocase.com/mono-bass-guitar.asp What are everyones thoughts? I don't carry much in the way of pedals, in fact I only have the TU2 so pedal space isn't essential. Thank you!! Dan

Hey eveyone! Sorry I havent looked on here for a while. I got the problem sorted, I emailed Aguilar and got a fairly swift response form them. It turned out to be my speakon cable, got a new one from OBBM (insanely highly recommended!) and the volume pot was filthy. Some electrical cleaning fluid sorted that out. I thought it might have been something about the capacitors, I had been scared about this earlier in the year, I suppose its just me being a gullible tit! Hats off to Aguilar for there customer service, and everyone who threw in suggestions. Dan P.S In hindsight, I feel rather thick.

Stunning bass! I played that one not too long ago! Dom mentioned he enjoyed his visit Silddx, it really does have a tremendous sound!! And I wished I could have bought it from him. Dan -
Is it in the key change? If so I think it's an E with a B bass. O haven't played it in a long time! Dan

I ordered a speakon cable from him yesterday and it arrived today first thing. Excellent, very sturdy cable with excellent service. I'll be using him again! Highly Recommended! Thanks very much OBBM! Dan
