I'd ask about an ACS service, I'm not sure if there is a cost, where they will save the info so that your mould can be remade without the need, and cost, of another fitting.
As far as Im aware, thats the standard with them now. They keep your moulds on a digital file for 4 years. Pleased you're going for them Tony. When I first got mine I put them straight in, and thought I had a dodgy pair. There was no difference in hearing people talk, then I sat in front of my studio monitors and cranked them. I thought they sounded good then took the plugs out and my god I had those speakers loud! They are incredible. Dan

Like a few people here, I put mine in at the start of the night and they don't come out until I get in the car to go home! I to was concerned as to which filters I needed, I went for the 15's, as a few people had told me the 25's are too much for 'normal' use. Unless you're playing for the damned stick with some 15's. For me they made gigging even more enjoyable, because it sounded like everything was turned down, you can enjoy the sound, but because everything is actually cranked up you can feel everything still! If Im going to a gig to watch, Ill take them. If Im going to a club, Ill take them. If Im going to a loud pub, Ill take them. Best musical investment. Dan
I spent some more time A/B'ing the TH vs the AG yesterday. I find the core sound to be really quite different. Could even see a reason to keep both for different situations
I know what you mean, I tried it yesterday with my MB 410, Im not sure I'll actually get one now. It sounds similar to my 500 SC but a little sterile. Don't get me wrong, it sounded mint, but by comparison it didn't quite have the substance of my current head. I need to go back and spend more time with it. Dan

I got some ACS ER15's. Worth every penny! Don't even think about it, just get some. They're comfy, reduce the sound level and allow you to hear everything still. Yes they're £165, but you'll make that back in a few gigs, or buying smaller blocks of cheese in your weekly food shop. You won't look back. +1 for making it a more clearer obvious to find thread in General Bass Discussion. Dan

I got to try one at GG in Newcastle. Amazing heads!! Can't believe the sound from something that small and light. Im going back with my cab to try it again and play it side by side to my AG500 SC. I may be putting a deposit down! Dan

I have to agree that groove and funk is definitely something that can be taught, but to get it right it has to be felt. Groove is felt, and listening to a lot of groove/funk will help, it should give you an understanding about rhythm and note placement. Bubinga 5 often puts up amazing funk groove finds which are amazing to listen to. Ultimately you have or you don't, but that doesn't mean you'll be bot at playing it! Don't forget, Bootsy feels groove, after all, its all he plays so he's bound to be good at it! Listen, practice, play and feel the notes! Dan

I love them, great strings. I switched to rotosounds cos they are a bit cheaper and to me sound nigh on the same. Go for them, hey sound great!! Dan
I quite like this one...the bass sounds great! The bloke who does these videos is obviously a big Jonas Hellborg fan and my hat comes off to him as I am too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcMajn9uzlc...feature=related
Wow! I liked that, its really nicely played and such a change from a lot of the stuff on youtube. Good find! Dan

Hey everyone! Im putting my Aguilar AG500 SC head out as a feeler for now. Its in very good condition, it does have some cosmetic marks but it has been used a lot over the last few years. It sounds amazing with an impressively flexible EQ, the DI is much loved by all the sound men I have worked with. Specs are as follows; Power output: 500 watts @ 4 ohms, 250 watts @ 8 ohms Inputs: One ¼" Input jack with Active/Passive switch Tone controls: Bright: +5dB >4kHz shelving Treble: +/- 13dB @ 4kHz shelving High Mid: +/- 14dB @ 800Hz peaking Low Mid: +/- 14dB @ 400Hz peaking Bass: +/- 18dB @ 40Hz shelving Deep: +6dB <100Hz shelving FX Loop: Series/Parallel; Send pot is Push/Pull for Line or Instrument level; Return pot is Push/Pull for Parallel or Series operation. Outputs: Two Neutrik Speakon and two ¼" speaker outputs, XLR balanced D.I. out with Pre and Post EQ switch, Tuner output. Mute: Push button with LED Size: 2 rack spaces, 17" W X 3.5" H X 10" D Weight: 17 lbs. Even though its a feeler, Id like £550 if it goes, which Im 90% in doing. It doesn't have the rack ears so Ill include the soft carry case. Any questions, just ask! Dan

It really does depend on a lot. Sorry to be vague. Find out off other function/club bands what they charge, enquire as a 'customer'. My club band charges somewhere between £200-£250 for a pub/club, private functions ie weddings we charge almost that each for a four piece. Bear in mind we play requests and do our work to a very high standard. If you sound better than the competition, youll find people will be prepared to pay that bit more. Certainly in my experience. Remember when you play weddings, you do whatever you are asked to do. No questions. Invite potential clients to your public gigs. Again, just my opinion. Dan

Flea using his flea bass in the new RHCP video
pietruszka replied to dan2112's topic in General Discussion
But then is there anything that will put anyone off quicker than a crap instrument ?
Very true, but if flea is your idol (I know he was mine at 16), then you'll play anything. If it has his name on it, even better. Thats certainly how I look at it. Dan -
I didnt think that much of the vids to be frank with you all. Good playing but nothing that stands out, though I have heard a lot more ear bleeding material! As for the bass? I love them, my mate has one (214of500 is his BC name). They do look incredible, and a joy to play to. Dan

Flea using his flea bass in the new RHCP video

Ive played a flea bass before to, they really are dreadful. Though they are about £220/£200 in GuitarGuitar, which is still over priced considering their build quality. I feel sorry for the kids who get them because of the name. But if it gets kids playing bass and not guitar, its surely got to be a win. Dan -
Cabinet dillema - do I need a 4x10 in my life.

Another 410 user here, a MarkBass STD 104. I love it, the lows are awesome and the mids punchy like nothing else. It would take a lot to get me to move from 410's. The MB ones are only 25kg to so not at all that heavy. A GS112 weighs 19kg! Hope you get a choice sorted! Dan -
I have had 3 4X10's in my Corsa.

I've fitted 3 big old 4x10s and a small drum kit in in a 1993 civic before, keeping my original driving position (as far back as posible) Just play tetris til they fit, you'd be amazed how much crap you can cram into the smallest of cars.
Bloody hell. You two must be fantastic at Tetris. Do they disappear when you get them in? We should post pictures of what we've squeezed into small cars! Dan

A really good watch! Cheers for sharing. I have an increased admiration for this man! Dan

Im experiencing some crackling from my AG500 SC, its going through a Mark Bass STD104. The problem started when I worked on a ferry, when returning from a family matter back onto the boat, I found that the head had been stored upright for 10 days. I wasn't best amused when I saw this and Im paranoid that that may be the reason for the intermittent crackling and drop in signal. I had heard somewhere that it may be something to do with the capacitors when stored in any way but flat? Am I being silly? Any thoughts any one? Im worried as I don't have the money to replace it and I now rely on it, being a working musician now. A worried Dan.

Excellent, cheers dude. I'll give that a shot. Fingers crossed!!! Dan

Hey, As the title says, the finger board on my (Dads) Aria Pro II SB 900 is lifting, to about the 3rd fret. I'm tempted to slip some glue in there and clamp it, but Dad loved this bass so I'm even more tempted to take it to a luthier and get a new fretboard on it completely. Does anyone know if this is an expensive job? Does any one recommend a particular someone? Was this a common thing on old Arias? This is a 1983 bass. Cheers! Dan

Awesome, just awesome. The Chic rhythm section was outstanding. Nile seems to have recovered well and is back on tour with them. Dan

I'm a lefty what plays a righty. I get the piss ripped a lot to for it. Dan

Khumalo I think his name is, that bloke what plays really good an' that on that 'Graceland' album. Stunning lines and lovely playing. +1 for Kate Bush, Babooshka is awesome and I think David Gilmour plays on it. I know he has played fretless for her before but I'm not 100% sure on that track. Dan
