Cars with boot big enough for small cab and bass
binky_bass replied to natjag's topic in General Discussion
My old 97 Fiesta could fit 2 Markbass Classic 410 cabs, a 4U rack, a double gig bag with an 8 string and a 6 string bass in it and a diago Tourman pedal board. Oh, and me! Bit of a squeeze but the boot closed! -

Me and the wife have a Kuga PHEV each. Great cars, an absolute ton of boot room and you get 40-50 pure battery zero Co2 miles before the petrol engine kicks in. -
Long cold winter without your … bass?
binky_bass replied to DawnPatroller's topic in General Discussion
Slacken the strings - extreme cold may contract the strings and set a warp in the neck. -
These are massively underrated bits of kit... I actually have two of these myself, one downstairs for occasional bass playing but mostly for music listening, and one in my little upstairs studio/office that I use for hours daily for music and for webex meetings etc. (currently using as we speak). The sound quality of these for audio playback is exceptional, if you buy it purely as a Bluetooth audio device for Spotify etc you'll not have wasted your money. But as the seller says, it can be used as an Audio Interface, a wireless practice amp and you can have three instruments and a backing track running at the same time. £150 is a steal. Absolutely love mine. Rant over.

I was tempted to do just that myself if I'm honest... Hoping it's gone to someone who will genuinely play it!

So who bought this for £103 then?

Give me the JP6 and the Thumb 6 and throw the rest in the bin. I shall then answer your question!

I've fixed all of your basses for you.

Be wary of Bax... they are very hit and miss with fulfilling orders, particularly discount ones. Be prepared for a painful battle to get your money back of they can't/don't fulfill your order.

Opinions on this Custom build (Svetano)

At £560 I'd buy it. -
@Hellzero, @tauzero, There is only one way to resolve this... BATTLE OF THE ZEROS!!! (Spock vs Kirk rules).

I think it's really a fretless, err, thing... that someone has attempted to fret with some kind of chicken wire.

The seller managed to take 3 photos of their other auctions, so why only 1 photo of what might be the higher value item? Red flags everywhere!

Firewood or useable? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/electric-bass-viol-/165056438972?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

Great things this GR AT208s! 😁

If the tone knob makes no difference to the sound at all then perhaps whoever serviced your bass recently accidentally damaged the loom rendering that pot defunct. If you've got an alternative bass and amp then do as you've suggested and try all the combinations to work out if another bass has the same issue through that amp or if your squier has the same issue through another amp. If you don't have another bass or amp, perhaps take your gear to a local music store and ask them if you can test one of their basses/amps to troubleshoot the cause. If you call ahead I'm sure they'd be happy to help! Though you might get roped into buying a new amp or bass!

I've used a lot of PJB cabs over the years, they are great things indeed. I find them best for a very articulate, hifi type sound. Also, if you are looking to go lighter, take a look at the GR AeroTech range, I've recently bought their 1200w 4x10 cab (a mere 15kg) and their 500w 2x8 cab (8kg). They are fantastic transparent cabs and weigh nothing.

I've not yet played through the AT208, will do this weekend. Though I expect no matter what way you slice it a 2x8 would 'perform' better than a 1x10 given a 1x10 only has 78% the speaker surface area of a 2x8 which would mean the 2x8 has more ability to shift air. This AT208 is 500w at 8 ohm so should be plenty loud enough for most reasonable applications. The AT410+ doesn't add any colour to the sound so I'd expect the AT208 to be removed same, maybe a little punchier given the smaller cone size. But for its weight it is super powerful!

After coming to the conclusion that the Mesa rig just wasn't right for me (and stupidly heavy!) I've change set ups again... this time a Kemper Profiler Power Rack with choice of GR AT410+ or GR AT208 cabs.

ACG, Kemper and GR AeroTech. Quite possibly the Holy Trinity of Bass, Amp and Cab.
