1. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201983312792 I'm no Gibson aficionado but this doesn't look right to me... could be wrong though? The headstock looks off and there are no ridges on the body, the bridge looks wrong too... is this not legit or is it a strange variation of the well known bird? I am curious.
2. I know this might be late in the day but whenever I get shafted by a company I usually go straight to their CEO and make enough noise that it's simply easier for them to cave in that it is to have me keep contacting them... CEOs seem to hate being contacted by anyone and if they have to buy you off or settle with you, they usually do. With that being said, have these details: CEO of Parcelhero: "][email protected] - 0208 758 4988 (generic number): CEO of UPS: "][email protected] (US) "][email protected] (UK) Fire off some stern but diplomatic emails... any CEO worth their salt would rather help a customer and settle a problem than end up in court.
3. The point is simply should one pay a fee if the fee is not mentioned and prior agreed? My opinion is no. The fee in question seems fair, however the fact it was imposed without prior agreement is not fair. I wouldn't mind paying a £30 fee that is either deducted from the commission upon selling or that is paid upon the withdrawl of the bass from sale so long as the fee is agreed and stated. That I believe is the only bone of contention here.
4. A bit of a description might help mate, also the correct spelling of your town!
5. I think some people (myself included) get a bit miffed when asked to pay fees that are unexpected or not explained, even if said fees are reasonable. Maybe charge £30 for the service involved and say it'll be minused from the commission fee if/when the item sells. Keeps everyone in the know!
6. It sounds good mate, not had a massive chance to get to know it yet, the treble dial on the EQ seems dead, though there was only a rather beaten up Squier bass on hand to test it with. Needs a service but that's about it. Interesting to know it was used at Live 8, good little bit of history there! The cab is heavier than I remembered and I remember them being heavy! Will see if I can get used to moving this tank again.
7. Hi, I recently picked up a Trace Elliot V-Type 300H with an 8x10 Trace Elliot cab that was used during the 2005 Live 8 concert in London, it has been signed by 14 different artists, I can identify 4 of the signatures but the other 9 I am struggling to ID. If anyone recognises any of the signatures I'd be grateful to know who they are! The ones I am aware of are Neil Hannon from The Divine Comedy (once on the head and once on the cab), Joss Stone (on the the rear of the head) and Fran Healy from Travis (on the Trace Elliot badge on the cab). If you know who any of the others are please let me know! 8. Will do, bit of a punt this but I do love a Trace and couldn't turn it down! The wife will be displeased...
9.
Love the grain on the top...what is it BTW?
Looks like Camphor burl or Thuya burl to me!
10. Was awaiting a response from the seller to confirm a meet up, got one before the end of the auction but just out of time to bid. I would only have done £100 anyway so you probably still would have got them!
11. Was gunna take these! If you decide against them then I'm close to the seller today... Impulse buys are terrible things, are you sure you want them?
12. 50 miles away today... Tempted.
13. Sold a bass to Tony... Again! Never any issues with Tony, always smooth and easy. Even though he is in Belgium and I am in Essex it always feels like dropping a bass round at a friend's house its so easy! Total confidence in buying/selling/trading with Tony, we even have another trade happening now, so there will soon be more positive feedback from me to him! Top basschatter! Russ.
14. I keep coming back to this but definitely cannot afford it... Let me know if you have any interest in 6 string trades.
15. I work at Ford and every now and then get emails from a 'Russian' scientists with various 'inside secrets', it's all scarily convincing until you realise all the info within in publicly available. This ad reminds me of those emails.
16. Price drop to £2000.
17. Went up to £150, didn't fancy risking anymore. Still, I'm sure the new owner won't be disappointed.
18.
Hi Russ, didn't you forget the usual specs like, weight, strings spacing at bridge and nut, action at 12th fret,... ? ;-)
Missing details now added!
19. Soon sir... Soon. Posted the ad from work while I had a minute! Such details will be posted tonight.
20. Hi all, Up for sale here is my MTD 635-24 fretless. The bass is in excellent condition with one small dot of a mark on the upper bout and another even smaller on the lower bout with a few minor scratches on the bridge. Before I go any further I'll get straight to the 'issue'... The finger board has a slight lift at the 16th fret position on the high C side that runs down to the end of the neck, the finger board also has a very slight 'over hang' from the 16th fret position again down to the end of the neck. I have discussed the issue at good length with Mike Walsh at Zoot basses who has quoted between £60 and £150 to set this issue 100% right. If the bass doesn't sell in the next couple of weeks I will have the work done by Mike and amend the price accordingly once the bass is back to being more or less flawless. You can see the lift in one of the photos, I made a point of making the lift as pronounced as possible when taking the photo to ensure honesty. Back to the good stuff... The bass does play excellently, the action is low and comfortable and the sound is just sublime, fretless basses don't come much better that this and given their brand new price tag you would certainly expect something special! To have a bass made with this spec and then shipped to the UK (inc. taxes) would be over £7000. Given the second hand price for MTDs is around £2800-£3000 I feel that £2300 is a very fair price. If you then add the cost of £150 to resolve the issue you then have a superb MTD 635 for £2450 which is a good bit less than they are selling for. The bass has a thick ebony finger board and a wenge neck (a $1000 option), I believe the top is maple burl with a matching headstock cap, the bass has a beautiful deep red statin stain with a very smooth and tactile MTD finish. The twin Bartolini pickups and Bartolini pre-amp give an excellent pallet on tones, it's essentially a 3 band EQ with volume, blend and 3 way pickup selector. String spacing at bridge: 18mm String spacing at nut: 9mm Weight: 4.3kg Current action at 12th fret marker: 4mm (can absolutely go lower). The bass will come with a used but decent hard case and I'm happy to ship the bass to who ever wants to own it. Shipping within the UK will be £40 or so to include insurance, if it's to go outside of the UK please let me know and I'll get some quotes. Collection from Wickford in Essex is also fine (and preferred!) I would consider trades, but strictly ONLY 6 string (or more!) basses, I'm not really interested in lower end 6 strings so it would need to be something of similar value to the MTD. I can't change the orientation of the pictures, if you want anymore photos, let me know and I'll be happy to take some and send them over.
