Good. You dodged a bullit there in my opinion! €500 is enough to get a decent 6 string on the second hand market. Look at eBay, a few weeks ago I got a Yamaha TRB6P for £400, there are very good deals to be had if you are patient and keep your eyes open!

That Strategy 88 is UNBELIEVABLY tempting... If I can find a way to finance it, I'm buying it tomorrow. @krispn, I hate you... I really do. Why would you do this?? WHY!!!!!! So... Much Gas... 😫

Jumping straight from 4 to 6 strings?

I went from a 4 string Ibanez 1979 Roadster straight to 10 string custom Bee Bass (Binky). So don't worry about skipping the 5 string! -
Best combination of basses you’ve owned
binky_bass replied to KingPrawn's topic in General Discussion
The best combination of basses I've owned would absolutely be the current line up. 1: 10 String Bee Bass (Binky) 2: 6 String ACG Salace E Type 3: Warwick Single Cut Thumb 6 4: Warwick SS1 Streamer 6 5: De Gier Elevation 6 (1 of 2) 6: De Gier Elevation 6 (2 of 2) 7: Conklin USA 8 String 8: 9 String ACG Recurve 9: 1989 Yamaha TRB6P 10: 7 String Overwater Progress III 11: 7 String Overwater (1st 7 Chris made) 12: 5 String 'BayBee' Bee Bass 13: Aries 6 String 'Bajadera' 14: 1979 Ibanez Roadster 15: Tanglewood Baron 6 String (1 of 20 made) I don't take these basses for granted and feel very privileged to have these, they are all exceptional instruments built by some of the finest luithers out there. -

Something has arrived! Just need to get home from work now!
-
He paid, I sent, it arrived, all good! Excellent and trustworthy basschatter, happy to deal with again! 😁 Russ.

I'll ask Alan which it is, though I assume the latter, certainly for the Camphor back! Delivery date is tomorrow!! I'll throw some pictures up once its arrived and I've been able to put it down long enough to take them!
-
I'm very surprised you've not seen these before! I had you pegged as a Tracey expert. Even I've seen these about! You've shattered my universe... 😫

That sir, is most unlikely! 😁

Sorry, my luither lingo isn't up to scratch! To me 'a lot of work and absorbing loads of finish' would class as stabilising it. I'd consider 'raw' to be unfinished, shows what I know! Now I'm not sure if the ACG is raw with just 'time and finish' applied or if it stabilised in the correct sense of the word (chemical/acrylic impregnated). Either way, I'm told the bass is now actually complete!!! Awaiting a full front and full back picture this morning, which will naturally get posted on here!
-
It'll be stabilised, you pretty much cant use burl woods without stabilising them, especially Buckeye!

For under £100, go second hand. You'll pretty much only get trash for £100 brand new that will be worth £50 at best the second you've bought it. If you buy pre-owned, and buy smart, you can get something half decent, and if you don't like it after a week or two you can sell it on and break even or maybe make a few pennies which can be reinvested in another second hand bass where the cycle can continue! I did this with amps for about a year until I finally settled on something I really liked. Gives you a great chance to try what's out there without really spending anything other that your initial outlay.

I've had a number of Warwicks over the years, some bought to sell, some bought to keep (including @lfalex v1.1's LX6 which only got sold to fund my incoming ACG build). The two I'm left with won't be leaving me any time soon. One is a Streamer Stage I 6 string, the other is a Thumb single cut 6, both are outstanding basses and have huge sounds. The Rockbass and Asian made Warwicks that have passed through my hand are perfectly serviceable basses, but nothing special. If you're after that 'something special' vibe, then you'll need to go full German. A 4 string BO Thumb could be bought for £650 - £750 on the right day and you wouldn't loose money re-selling it if you decide it's not for you.

Hi all, Up for sale here is this beautiful Crafter SJC 420EQ electro acoustic guitar. The guitar is a jumbo body, so think Gibson J200 size. The top is a beautiful slice of highly figured birdseye maple with a bright cherry Sunburst finish. The action is nice and low and I've freshly re-strung it today (12/12/2019) with a set of Rotosound Bronze strings. The guitar will come with a faux croc skin tear-drop shaped hard case lined with black fur. These are quite uncommon Crafters, made in the early 90's and built to a very high standard. It's a lovely guitar and plays superbly. When I bough it, the battery cover was missing so I made a new one, you wouldn't know it was a hand made battery cover unless you really looked at it! I'm after £250 posted or £240 collected. I absolutely love Crafter acoustics but I have 9 of them excluding this one (all Anniversary Edition ones) and this one needs a new home! Any questions, please ask! Russ.
