1. Some people on basschat dislike them for several reasons. David Nimrod and I are obviously exceptions . Have a nose through this thread for full details: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=6976
2. I've owned both and can honestly say i'm not too bothered..
3. Sounds like the words of a man with some cash spare .
4. Whilst I do like the look of the Ibanez and am experiencing 6 string GAS this month - I don't think I could part with my Stingray for anything...
5. A Stingray is worth a good £250 more than what you want for the Ibanez.. were you going to bump some cash in too ?
6. But then she will expect it to be sold !
7. If you're suspicious of it you should check out some Ric forums to make sure the serial isn't listed as stolen.
8. Are you going to spill the beans on price ?
9. I'm inclined to agree - I don't feel there is a justified need for a separate forum.
10. I'll let it run for a few days until no-one bothers voting anymore - then we have our answer .
11. Poll added - let the public decide !
12.
Why Matt? just interested to know your reasons behind that? I've not played one so I'd welcome any input on them. I know there's one or two owned on here.
I think CIJ are the best value of all the Fender range. They're pretty much American quality at just over Mexican prices.
13. Adrian Ashtons The Bass Handbook http://www.bassplace.com/RF015.html Has some stuff from our own Stuart Clayton in there too - really great book.
14. Well I have a 2000 MIM Jazz, which as far as Fenders go, is near the bottom of the rungs. I find it has a few flaws, but they can all be fixed fairly cheaply when I pull my finger out (new pots, possibly new pickups). Out of what you've suggested i'd go for the CIJ 70's reissue.
15. What next - something that plays for you too ?
16. Where can I find this list ? .
17. A preamp box will definitely be what you're after then...
18. I'm not sure how you mean quiet ? Quiet compared to what ?
19. For that budget, I don't think the Yamaha BB615 can be beaten, a smidgeon over the £300. http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/yamaha-bb615/70814
20. I think you'll be ok - the head handles a minimum of 2ohms and plugging both cabs in will give you ~3ohms. The bit telling you its 406watts @ 4 ohms is just information.
21. This is becoming a very intriguing thread.. it's making me ponder whether all the hype about differing tonewoods is utter nonsense or just over exaggerated...
22. First bump.. I suppose I could always get it refretted...
23. A very open question unfortunately. What's your budget ? What style of music do you play ?
24. I think another factor when buying an instrument is how it'll be perceived by others. Some people (possibly including myself) wouldn't want to be on stage with some no-name bass that no-one has heard of or is perceived to be rubbish. It's the Skoda effect..
