I bought a short scale jazz bass from DV247 which I never realised was out of stock, a quick phone call and money showed back in my account the next day.

You want rosewood, racing stripe? Try the Mikey Way

I went into my local dealer and tried one out (I normally play a Bronco), I thought it was a solid bass and played very well, nice neck, but it had unfortunately a sparkly finish which I didn't like.
I can also recommend The wrecking crew, a documentary about the aforementioned Wrecking crew, who played on countless hits and albums,Carol is the main bass player and also plays very nice guitar, I found it absolutely fascinating,
Some people may not agree but I think if you are spending £1k + on a bass (new), then the quality control should weed out the nasties, not the customer, so instances of less than acceptable basses would be much lower and inexperienced customers would have less chance of picking up a lemon.
For 50 squids you would be hard pushed to better it, as previously stated a solid bass with a lovely slim neck and quite versatile sound wise, Peavey's take on a jazz type bass.
How about trying a Bronco, they can be had for peanuts and if you decide to sell on you should recoup most of your dosh, would give you a feel of the short scale/mustang experience, I use one myself and there is a big difference in the effort and strain required to play as opposed to my full size basses.

Rule 1: The bass player is right.
Rule 2: When the bass player is wrong, see rule 1.

If only they played by the rules.

If you are after a cheap p-bass. Usually loads of Westone thunder 1s on eBay. From the matsumoko factory and you can usually pick one up for around £100.
Very good basses for the money.

Great basses, but maybe a tad heavy for a bad back.

Its the old Sound Control on Jamaica St in Glasgow.

Ah, it all makes sense to me now, they took over the Dundee Sound Control as well.
Just a heads up for an ebay listing for a Pink Westfield B1000 with black or white scratchplate, there are more than 10 available at the princely sum of £49.
The sellers name is kennysmusic who have shops in Dundee and Dunfermline they are boxed and kenny's will ship for £7.99.
Precision style, got to be cheap for a new bass, never tried one myself but some good reports on these pages, I have no connection to this sale or kenny's music.
The bass player is Ged Grimes, who I have seen with many bands over the years as he is/was local, used to play for Danny Wilson as well, and yes, he is a tall chap and very pleasant with it.
I've just had a look at some pics on google images and listened to a youtube demo, and for what I can gather from from that it's a stunning looking and sounding instrument. I think if it was mine it wouldn't be going anywhere for 200 squids.
