1.
Ever tried one? Me neither.
I have. It was awesome.
 2.
I emailed him now. I hope he does - im not a fan of the fake aged thing. I respect how difficult it must be etc but it's not for me.
If he doesn't do non-relics, I strongly recommend you chat to Adrian at Maruszczyk...
 3.
I've done a search on the forum and understand that people are very happy with them. I also read that Mark doesn't do sunburst. Does anyone have a Limelight bass that isn't aged though?
I don't think he does them.
 4. The OP has acknowledged that naming the seller without contacting them first wasn't a great move. Best learn from it and move on, I think.
 5. Out of interest, did the seller send you any pics of the bass beforehand?
 6.
Well after some thinking about it I've contacted the seller with a view to returning this one and paying some extra money to get a new one made up for me. Despite the cosmetic issues with this particular bass I am totally taken with the instrument's sound and feel. No doubt in my mind that they're amazing instruments, let alone for the price they go for. I've no doubt it'll all be sorted without issue - cheers for the advice folks
Can't argue with that - they're amazing basses.
 7. That's surprising and a shame, but IMO you should always go back to the vendor and give them a chance to put things right before going public. I hope you get sorted.
 8. I wouldn't let it bother you. If someone buys it without doing a quick Google search first, then it's their own fault and they deserve to be about four quid worse off. It's really not that big a deal, and it's certainly not worth reporting.
 9.
For my money, the essential difference with prog. was that, unlike most other genres, it was essentially 'English', not blues based and not dance orientated. Adding stuff around epic fantasy, mellotrons and long solos was peripheral. It is music that is generally less 'groove' orientated and more cerebral. The fact that there was no expectation that I would have to dance to it was a major attraction
One of the reasons Genesis appeal to me more than (for example) Yes, are the soul influences brought to the mix by Gabriel and Collins (and occasionally Banks). Of course it's all wrapped up in something quintessentially British (sic), but that warmth and groove really spice up the mix to my ears.
 10.
Well group-think is everywhere e.g. the "class D amps lack umph" meme.
And also the 'Commonly available class D amps have as much umph as traditional amps' meme.
 11.
That's nothing to do with ability. It's GAS.
Nah - it comes from knowing that Rio isn't going to sound quite right on a P, or Peaches will be a bit weird on an Alembic. It's not rocket science.
 12.
Hah! I should've googled first. Despite me listening to them throughout my teenage years in the 80s, I could only tell you who the drummer was from listening to Margaret. I like Mosley's drumming then. If he's the worst drummer in prog rock, then prog rock has a pretty decent requisite.
I've just always found him tentative and skittish. And those random 'FLOBBADOBBADOBBA' rolls he throws in set my teeth on edge...
 13.
Nope, Nick Mason's the worst drummer in prog.
I have to disagree. He's a big reason why Floyd sound like Floyd
 14.
TBH, I've never listened to any of the post Fish material. So Mick Pointer is the drummer I associate with them. The last album I bought of their's was La Gazza Ladra (I bought every one prior to it too).
Mick Pointer is only on the first album. The rest is Ian Mosley.
 15.
You can't have a prog rock thread & not mention Marillion! Misplaced Childhood is a great album from start to finish, but then, so are their other albums.
Marillion could be great, but IMO Ian Mosley has to be the worst drummer in prog.
 16.
If you can't make any bass work for you, you're not much cop as a bass player.
I think most people could get by. But, if you are much cop as a bass player, you might be thinking 'Hmm.. this isn't quite fitting the bill...'.
 17.
Voyage of the Acolyte by Steve Hackett. It has songs with titles like 'Hands of the Priestess, Part I' and '"Shadow of the Hierophant'. It doesn't get much more prog than that!
Good call. It's a great album, and the production is amazing for the time.
 18. Poor bass players... 'Anything will do.' Can you imagine guitarists having the same discussion?
 19.
I have been admiring your set up on the TKS thread and they are the ones that have tempted me so far. How do you find the S212 + S112 set up compares to a 2 x S112? I am thinking due to the staircases to our practice room and the fact I only have access to a small car that two small cabs might make more sense than one 212. Might have to make a trip to bass direct and bass gear and try some stuff out once the new amp arrives.
I've never run an S112 & S212 together in anger. I can't imagine needing more than the S212 alone can deliver...
 20. Chester's on drums and Kim Beacon sings. Everything else is TB.
 21. It's a good album, only let down (IMO) by the nagging feeling that some of the tunes would have been better with a tougher production and Collins and Rutherford on board.
 22. I've got lots of experience of the TKS S112's and S212's. Great cabs, extremely high quality, light, and (a bonus for me) ceramic. They're far more to my taste than the Berg HS210s and EX12's I ran beforehand. They sound more natural, with clearer mids. IMO, you can't go wrong with them. I've also used a few Barefaced cabs before, and quite liked them. You're spoiled for choice, really.
 23. Damn you, BC - making people use Google.
