1.
"It has flatwounds so bass players can feel right at home ..."
Excellent.
 2.
Never played above fret 19 on a gig. Not once.
I played 17 once, on the G string, apparently it's a C note, but I didn't like it. Not been back since, I let the guitarist play up there.
 3.
But that doesn't fit, because you don't need frets to create some higher notes, just know where the harmonics are. My 4 string, 20 fret Jazz copy can achieve 5 octaves, for example, the same as my 24 fret fretless.
Well, I think it does fit because a 21 fret 4-string neck does cover three octaves in the normal and straightforward sense. Although I'll accept that a range of harmonics (and bends) are also available.
 4. I understand why one might call a 24 fret neck a two octave neck but surely of more interest is how many octaves are available across the instrument. So for a 21 fret 4-string neck that would be three octaves.
 5. Sorry to hear this Clarky, but something else will come up.
 6.
You pay the bills with the first five frets, anything else is a bonus.
Yes, it's worth writing the word 'MONEY' along the neck next to the first five frets.
 7. Like everyone says, it depends on what you are playing. I don't think I've ever been higher than fret 15, and mostly not above 9.
 8.
... My basses are characterised by small scratches on the top of the body just off the fingerboard where sometimes my thumbnail lands after the e is plucked.
I've discovered that my right-arm shirt cuff button can make similar scratches.
 9. I don't know for sure that they are the same but I'd be extremely surprised if they were different. Try asking at the Lakland Owners Group if you don't get a definite answer here, or Lakland are usually quick to reply to an email.
 10.
Just watched a clip from the programme advert of him doing Theme From An Imaginary Western, what a song and what a voice the man still has. BBC Artworks
Very good, thanks for the link.
 11.
Just shows how ignorant people are towards music - Peoples brains just get filled with the sh*t from X factor and Britains got talent and just think the people who 'sing' on the shows are everything and filled with talent. I think it's pretty disgusting that Macca isn't known considering what he has accomplished as a musician. Ok you may not like him but at least know who the f*** he is! 12. Very nice, Michael. Is it wearing the Lakland strings?
 13.
Seth who?
I already asked that twice but no one seems to know.
 14.
I'm not so much concerned with whether or not they know who Paul McCartney is because he's a bassist - rather because he's got to be one of the most recognisable faces in the world and, if they don't know who he is, what other massive gaps in people's general knowledge are there? not everyone's gonna be on mastermind but you've gotta wonder.....
Most people know a very limited range of stuff. It's normal. Anyway who is Seth Horan?
 15.
just thought i'd bring this to people's attention if they haven't seen it already - i picked it up from Seth Horan's Facebook post http://www.buzzfeed....-paul-mccartney ( http://web.me.com/se...hhoran.com.html ) i don't know if i should be angered, amused or baffled by this whole thing :/
It's fairly normal and common I'd say. Anyway who is Seth Horan?
 16.
Would it really be a Les Paul if those problems WERE fixed?
Would it be a PRS?
 17. I have an olympic white AV62 Precision and it looks like your vintage white.
 18. For your pleasure there is to be a silverburst version:
 19.
... you can find an F but takes a life time ...
I'm not an accomplished reader myself but the answer to this problem seems to me to be don't be looking for an F (or whatever note). Just get your hand in the right place, know what key you're in and play the intervals. So, you're in key of C (or whatever), just play the fourth (i.e. F in this case). This does depend on knowing your scales because what you see written will commonly take you up and down those scales.
 20. I don't regret selling my first bass but I do regret giving it to someone.
 21.
Listen to blues. Some are 12 bars long, some are 16 bars long. The standard is 12 bars but it's not a hard and fast rule.
Definitely not a hard and fast rule. I depped with a band that did an 11 and 3/4 bar blues and a 10 and a 1/2 bar blues. No one warned me. I was definitely confused and blamed the drummer.
 22.
Out of interest, why do you know this ? or maybe, how did you work it out ?
http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_common.htm
 23.
sounds like someone kicking a dustbin down a fire escape to me!
Of course, that is another alternative, but I wouldn't want to have to set up the fire escape without a road crew.
 24.
"I have been arrested"
'I have been arrested and you need to come and get me bailed.' - This was actually before a gig not a rehearsal.
