1.
Whilst we're talking about LaBellas, My Jazzer, Ibby Blazer and Warwick Fortress are 36" from where the ball end sits at the bridge to the nut. The 34" Scale LaBellas state that the silks are 34" from ball End to the start of the silk winding. Should I be looking at extra long scale strings for these basses, I would have thought not so I'm a bit confused to be honest. Anyone care to enlighten me ?? Cheers.
My long scale La Bellas are approx 37" (not 34") from ball end to silk.
 2. Very nice, good job.
 3. I used a Precision with an onboard preamp and flats for some years. It's great.
 4.
... I'm putting black nylon tapewound on my new active Jaguar
Very stylish. If you use the Pyramid Black Nylons then you'll get gold silks to match your lion. Nice.
 5.
... (You'll probably disagree with all this as we obviously have fundamentally different mindsets when it comes to music).
Correct.
Great post.
See above.
 6.
Feel free to disagree all you like, however I think that it is a bit off for a bunch of weekend warriors posting on the internet about a pro that is good enough to get the Carl Palmer gig, saying that he is giving “a badly executed and somewhat unmusical performance”! that just seems dumb and disrespectful to me...
OK, I hadn't realised you thought that as I am not a professional musician I'm not fit to comment on what real musicians do.
 7.
Not that old. I was just practising for the old people's home. Should I be lucky enough to be put into one.
... and your profile says age unknown. Spooky!
 8.
I have a son about your age. It used to be all trees round here. Is that my toast?
If you've got a son about my age then you are a very old f****r
 9.
That's me sorted then...
Ha ha, me too.
 10.
Hi, I dare to bump the topic. What would you say about GHS Pressure Wounds? I need flatwound strings with a quite bright sound but with a little less tension than Chromes. A long lifespan would be nice either.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GcQJyHGbeY

 12.
Great! I've always said that but for the trauma it would cause others I'd like to die onstage...
Unlike you Jake, I presume, I have already died on stage many times.
 13. Some nice phrases and cool fingerstyle but I hated the slapping and the tapping and the whole thing seemed like showing off and look at me. I've never been in a band where I would have not got the sack for being all over a tune like that. It's what you don't play.
 14.
Looking for nice slightly gritty Rock bass tone are Mesa really that good to cost a wad ?
If you like it then it is that good. Looking used is always good though.
 15.
The Mesa sell only at MSRP. They are worth the bucks. Another good option to the Mesa, the .
I have paid below MSRP for a new Mesa item from a UK dealer.
 16.
... It seems that some people are intimidated by anyone better than them ...
I am confident I speak for many of us in saying that if I was intimidated by people who could play better than me then I'd have to not be here at all. You are missing what really happened here which was that the OP held up a badly executed and somewhat unmusical performance as an example of greatness and, when some of us disagreed with his evaluation, things got sensitive. So, what you perhaps ought to have said is "It seems that some people are intimidated by anyone disagreeing with them".
 17. I bought a Boss Tremolo pedal from Geoff. Excellent communication and put himself out to post before his holiday. Top man.
 18.
You're all right. He stinks. What was I thinking? This might be more to everyone's liking.
Nope, didn't like that either but I listened for longer - 1.22.
 19. If you haven't already then it might be worth a trawl through this thread: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/official-medium-scale-bass-club-402028/
 20.
How to entertain a crowd with a bass solo 101 ....
That was much better, although from about half way through he was in danger of losing me. However I did get right to the end.
 21.
...or if you break a finger, eh..? Not an impossible occurrence, either.
I always carry spare fingers; three on my plucking hand.
