1. I would walk well away from that. Too many queries for that price.
 2. Many years ago I used to spend ages messing with EQ. Now I rarely bother and do my best to avoid EQ fiddling. Instead, play in a different manner, move my right hand, neckwards or bridgewards. Play more lightly and turn the volume up or play harder and turn the volume down.
 3. Sponge from under pickups, screwed up tissues, bit of old cotton cloth or velvet, mouse mat - try different things til you get the sound you want.
 4.
I guess we could settle on Telecaster/Precision hybrid! That's what I call mine. Best of both worlds.
Well, like I said, you can of course call it what you like, but I'm just interested to know why anyone would think it would attract the name Telecaster. I really don't want to pay £30 to read that book to find out.
 5.
My '66 LPB
Very nice.
 6. Broke an A string once years ago and that was only time at a gig. Always spare strings, rarely spare bass.
 7.
Had not read Barrie's book back then.
You can call it whatever you want of course but please explain why you want to call it a Telecaster Bass when Fender call it a Precision Bass and even the website for the book you refer to also calls it a Precision Bass sometimes.
 8.
Seems to be working again now
Indeed.
 9.
Which is the 'good music' and which is the 'bad music'?
If you can't tell the difference good and bad then it makes no difference whether it's so-called original, covers, tribute or whatever.
 10.
The "adult" version In 1979, the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special exclusive sketch for the Thames TV staff Christmas tape, sometimes referred to as the "Twangers" episode. This sketch featured plenty of deliberate sexual innuendo (beginning with Zippy peeling a banana, saying 'One skin, two skin, three skin, four...' before being interrupted), and was never shown at the time (as it was never intended to be screened to the general public.) It also included Geoffrey convincing the viewers to "bounce" their balls, but if they did not have any balls, they could ask a friend if they could play with his. Jane also claimed that she was "blowing a lot with Rodger". Soon, Zippy asked them to stop, suggesting whether to play with a blowing tube and maracas, so they could start singing the 'Plucking Song'. The clip became famous after being aired on Victor Lewis-Smith's Channel 4 programme TV Offal (1997) and was referred to as 'the pilot episode' in order to fit into the regular programme segment "The Pilots That Crashed"; however, the clip clearly was not a pilot, as Geoffrey Hayes was the regular presenter at the time. The clip became widespread with the advent of the internet, first as an e-mail attachment and later via online video websites such as YouTube, where to date it has received more than a million hits. This has led to many erroneous claims that the episode was publicly broadcast as a regular episode.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_%28TV_series%29#The_.22adult.22_version
11.
Each to their own. I'd rather go and see an original band I haven't heard before.
Well, as you say, each to their own, but my preference is good songs and good performance so I don't care whether its so-called original material or so-called covers or so-called tribute. For me, it's the music and the performance that matters. So, original or not, covers or not, tribute or not it can be good or not so good, and so original, covers, or tribute can't be a test of how good it is. Anyway, it's really quite rare to see something actually original as so-called original is commonly highly derivative and sometimes derivative in a rather dull manner.
 12.
... I just don't get tribute bands, why anyone would want to be in one or why anyone would want to see one.
Because of excellent songs, excellently played in an excellent performance ... and so an excellent night out. I think that's usually why.

 14.
The best courier is the one that gets your item there safely and on time and the worst courier is the one that delivers your item damaged or it goes missing. They are all much about the same and i've used them all. I have had great and appalling results with Interparcel for example where they have delivered on time and also where the item went 'missing' only for it to turn up SEVENTEEN days later! They are all as good and bad as each other. All you can do is keep your fingers crossed and hope.
But aren't Interparcel merely a broker. They send your parcel with one of the following couriers as shown on their website: UPS TNT FedEx Express Parcelforce DPD Post NL City Link Hermes Collect Plus ETS CitySprint
 15.
I don't know what altruism means, but this guy is one egotistical prick
I do know what altruism means and you may be correct on the second point; but he was extremely effective in reminding me that I have no interest whatsoever in so-called metal.
 16.
What drives folk to post videos of themselves playing bass covers, for all the world to see?
What drives folk to play in pubs etc., for all the world to see?
 17.
Okay! firstly its not a P Bass! Its a 1966 'Telecaster Bass'! It just happens to look like a P Bass. I have played an original 66 that was owned by John Entwistle. It was quite heavy with ash body not swamp ash. I've had the pleasure of chatting with Barrie Midford-Millership who was the creator of the slab. It was his 'baby'! You need to read is book. Its all in there.
I am confused by the words 'Precision Bass' in your avatar of a Slab66 headstock.
 18.
Depends on your choice of gauge surely? The 'standard' offerings e.g. 45/65/85/105 definitely have this, but if you go for the balanced tensions sets (or just buy the right gauge singles) then this can be engineered out. There is of course then the compliance issue
Yes, that's why I said 'usually' and 'commonly'.
 19.
http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2446088
Ah ... thank you.
 20. It was 30 years ago in 2007.
 21.
Ah ha! Your Avatar! The first time that I ever saw that pic was today!
Er ... I don't quite get your point.
 22.
How heavy are we talking here? I've never had a problem using .110s with standard tuning on any bass including a Rick, In fact thinking about it, I briefly tried stringing the Rick with .130s (I think) and tuning to B, like the bottom 4 strings of a 5 string. No problems there either, although obviously it need setting up for the extra tension.
Tuning BEAD usually means less tension than EADG because a B string is commonly less tense than a G string.
 23. What do you mean by 'heavy' strings? Do you mean high tension? What 'heavy' strings did the Rickenbacker and the MM not like? What do you mean by those basses not liking the 'heavy' strings? A Precision bass can cope with high tension strings but generally speaking so should any bass with a working truss rod.
 24. And CityLink once put a 'you were not at home and we could not deliver' card through my letterbox while I was standing in my hall. By the time I had opened the door the guy was speeding off down the road.
