I do like to do them, usually my voice (although being 6ft3 and big and hairy) is medium to high so harmonising is quite easy although the singer from HmF has a higher voice too!
I'm 5'8" and I can reach a low C. If you're interested in a trade, let me know.
Did a job a couple of years ago where no vocals were required and went on stage for the first time without a mic stand in front of me, very odd.
I also find this a bit odd if I've been doing a long stint of function gigs. I have a bass/baritone range voice, so I'm not that versatile when it comes to backing vocals. My falsetto is OK though, so I can make do with that sometimes. Mostly I supply some simple harmonies or textural vocals that add a little bit more to the tune. Occasionally (very occasionally) on functions I 'sing' lead on Love Shack. I'm rarely required to do all of the male vocals in that tune though, as most of the time I share it with our tenor player (who's got a much stronger voice). Don't get me started on my attempts at rapping. (If only my younger self could see me now. Back then I believed I could retain some artistic integrity. )

Whoa. Something weird's going on with the reflection in the scratchplate. I swear I can see Optimus Prime... Anyway, bizarre observations notwithstanding, it looks amazing! Good luck with the sale.

The Bernard Edwards Appreciation Thread

He's very quickly turning into one the strongest influences on my playing of late. Can't get enough! -
I want one of those classic line Stingray 5s so much. Unless it turns out they sound/play like ass. Then again I might still want one, purely based on aesthetics.
-
Wow, this thread is OLLLLLD. Thanks for resurrecting it though. I hadn't seen that before - it's ace!!
-
Happened upon Rodney 'Skeet' Curtis's myspace a while ago. This track was in the player - I had to get hold of it immediately! I'd all but forgotten about it until iTunes shuffle reminded me how ace the groove and the bass playing is.
-
That's a beaut. I'm starting to really want one of these. Maybe not in natural finish... I keep hearing good things about these basses of late anyway!
I think so I was told by a friend before that Boss pedals are made especially to power off of eachother. but I dont know for sure.
Boss TU-2s have another DC jack for supplying power to other pedals, as does the Korg pitchblack.

Yup that definitely sounds like synesthesia - a condition that involves the senses merging in varying ways. I think seeing sound as colours is one of the more common aspects of it (well, relatively speaking of course!). Very interesting subject IMO. I believe I'm right in saying Miles Davis had it?
-
It's obviously witchcraft.
-
Still in disbelief about this series of events. Firstly, the very concept that someone would orchestrate a scam based around that kind of subject matter. Secondly, that it was sussed out. That's some sterling detective work by the mod team. And yet, I'm still left sort of hoping the inconsistencies were down to human error or something, but there's no arguing with IP addresses I guess...

What initially inspired me to become a musician were two films I watched endlessly when I was young: The Blues Brothers, and the Chuck Berry bit in Back to the Future. I came round to the idea of playing bass because my brother already played guitar and wouldn't let me as well. Actually that's not the whole truth - I really wanted to learn 'Sunshine of Your Love' and 'Hey Joe'. I thought the bass had something cool going on in each of those. That was almost 10 years ago. These days I'm most inspired by... jamming I guess? I just love the feeling achieved from interaction with other musicians, whether it's in a rehearsal room or on a stage. Can't beat it.
Not sure what the best slap groove is. But Louis Johnson on 'Aint we Funkin now' is a great groove. A greasy funky 70's Stingray in all it's glory.... And as someone above said...all that Marcus stuff from LV. Garry
Loving the Brothers Johnson - been really digging 'Stomp!' recently. Massive tune. On a similar note, one of my favourites is Louis Johnson's line in 'Get on the Floor'

I agree with what's been said before about 'transparency' - purely speculative, but that might not be everyone's cup of tea.
Cool enough http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GRETSCH-1962-COUNTRY...=item5ad63a9e22
Yeah maybe, but what the buggery is on the back? A trampoline?!

My first giggable rig was a Peavey Fury IV into a Peavey TKO 115. The bass has been untouched since I got my Stingray at the end of 2006, and is now gathering dust at my parent's house. The combo lasted a while longer, but I steadily grew more and more sick of its limitations, not to mention its weight! As soon as I could afford it I got myself a tasty rig - bought a Little Mark II last May, swiftly followed by an Aguilar GS112. Upgraded that to a GS212 back in October. I've pretty much fallen in love with 12s.
-
I agree with all the above about this rig. Sounds like the ultimate, dream cab configuration to me. Don't you dare turn it down! (and please let us know how it sounds)
if I was buying again I would get the maple board
I think you should do that. Nothing to do with the sound - it would match your Stingray's aesthetics exactly.
The tracking is ace on the deluxe octave pedal, best octaver I've ever used, tracks well down to a low B!
Blimey. At high enough volume that must be bordering on bowel-churning territory, surely? (Anyway, I'm perfectly happy with a good old dodgy yet charming OC-2 thankyouverymuch)
