  1. I still cringe at the thought of it..
  2. Do they still do Oranjeboom lager? They had a terrible tv advert for it in the 70s / 80s with a cheesy tune lifted from some other programme ..
  3. When I've done stuff on the railway in the past, the overalls and hi viz kit is always orange, I assume it's because you couldn't mistake it for anything other that Red, ie danger, stop. Plus of course it's "highly visible" Yellow hi viz particularly if soiled might possibly be confused with green. Just a theory.
  4. Orange is best with Gin in it in my experience..
  5. I'm wearing a orange boiler suit as we speak ( it doesn't have "Dept. of Correction" stencilled on the back or anything, btw)
  6. J. L. was brilliant, highly recommend the "Julie is her name" LP ( with some very cool guitar by Barney Kessel btw )
  7. The sleeve things are quaintly called "stretchy finger protectors" btw.. from ebay (and similar I expect) and you get a few in a pack. @Rich has finger issues rather than the thumb, but these would in my opinion work just as well to discourage the finger from bending at the joints, (unless you've got really tiny skinny fingers) and as I found, can be made more solid and splint like by slipping a strip of something down the tube. There's also plastic "oval" or "oval 8" type splints which are smaller and unobtrusive, but need to be exactly the correct size for the digit involved. There's one uk ebay seller that does these when I looked.
  8. It's good to have given it a go though, and 4 rehearsals is a fair trial for sure. Good luck with the quest anyway , you'd think a blues/rock type of outfit wouldnt be too hard to find, or even start one yourself 👍
  9. Have had an annoying clicking thumb joint for a month or two, noticed especially when gripping a pick (plectrum not pickaxe) it seemed aggravated by the thumb being bent back rather when gripping said pick. I improvised an experimental splint with a bit of wood and electrical tape, which'll make you laugh no doubt! It did in fact help and I continued to play with the immobilised thumb, believe it or not. I subsequently tried some little elasticated tube things which are quite good at preventing you bending the thumb at the joint (A2 pulley aparrently) these can be stiffened further with a piece of plastic or card if req. I enclose pics for your entertainment 😁 ps, the tube thing is very grubby as I've just got back from "toiling in the fields" type stuff... I've got some clean ones, honest..
  10. When I had one of these it fitted easily into a normal flat/square type regular 6 string guitar case.
  11. Aparrently a friend of one of my mates ( I've met this guy a few times but don't know him well) used to have the out of body thing very frequently, he'd go travelling around, so called "astral travelling" I believe. I'm told It even became a bit of a problem to him and he resolved to try and block it, which he did eventually and hasn't done it again. He was teens and early 20s I think when it was happening, but no doubt if he'd not quashed it he'd still be able to do it now in his 50s. Interesting subject which would be mocked as nonsense by many I'm sure, but like much that you could call "paranormal" there's too many examples reported for it to be simply made up or imagined. Sounds quite disturbing and I'm glad I don't experience it.
  12. I had a phase of that kind of thing for a particular band, but my lowest note was a C I did this on a headless 4 banger which seemed perfectly happy to perform like that, with the strings that came with it too! I didn't miss a G as never went anywhere near there for this particular project which was "Goth, industrial, metal" for want of a better description. I really don't like 5 strings at all, and would certainly take the same downtuning approach in future if I needed to.
  13. Me too.. though I probably wouldn't have a bass or guitar shaped like one..
  14. When a mate's brother was cremated "Twisted Firestarter" was seriously suggested, the man himself would have thought it brilliant, but we had to consider the parent's feelings so had to give that idea a miss unfortunately.
