1. I love bolt on basses too! I live in Carlisle as well, always wanted an Overwater for sentimental value, yours is stunning.
 2.
Used to have one of these, lovely basses, Im really surprised this one hasn't gone yet, Bobs a great bloke to deal with and really takes care of his basses, this will certainly be worth a punt for someone....
+1 Now Overwater have changed to east preamps they sound the biz. This would be effortless to play as well.
 3.
Nicely mental.... The guitarist I've worked with for the last 15 years had gone through literally dozens of guitars in that time. However, one thats always stayed close and been used on most gigs is a US Charvel white strat shaped neck thru thing. Must be good then.
Aww thats lovely to hear!! They based they're necks on measurements from a '64 Fender Strat, I think thats their best feature, although theres some dispute between whether Charvel or Ibanez necks are the best, comfort wise the Charvel wins but I guess speed wise Ibanez is on top (I've owned both previously). I don't think they made many thru necks, mainly bolt on hot rods for punchy chords and strat tone style solos whilst nicking the Gibson bridge humbucker - for classic rockers the crunch is fantastic. I owned the P/P Star bass which was ok, but the reissue series wasn't the best quality to be frank. They make fantastic custom tele basses but the guitar tone is particularly unique and very recognisable...to me anyway, easy as telling between a Precision or Jazz bass.
 4. I've tried both but still couldn't decide, I think a G&L L2000 is a fantastic compromise of both although I know i'd like a P mainly because of the neck. I have small hands but chordally its easier and less cramped for me on a wide neck and it compromises my speed minimally - a P also has a better band presence, provided you have a good amp. If I were playing in my room i'd use a Jazz/stingray or Rickenbacker for the look and tonal fun but a precision is essential to have. +1 for a G&L L2000 covers the fenders well in passive or active.
 5.
MB1. "Tonight Matthew I'm going to be Dusty from ZZ Top!"
Haha, I do love ZZ! I've got the Tele bass to compliment it now as well (still chuffed!)
 6.
I like Charvel, but that is pretty wrong looking unless you have invented a way to travel back to the 80's and are planning on taking it there with you.
Haha I just thought it would look good with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers shirt...or the Ziggy Stardust/David Bowie Facepaint. I was initially going to have it stripped and have a budweiser graphic put on but I grew to really like it.
 7.
Bass paid for, and deliver arranged. bass will be uplifted from myself in a short while and will be with Oli on Monday. Hope you have fun with the bass mate, it really is a great instrument.
Wonderfully quick and easy transaction, its just hit me that its pretty much a Fender Custom Shop at a wicked price with the best Tele finish so i'm feeling much better about it. I'll let you know when it arrives and leave some feedback
 8. Hi BCers, Just wanted to see what you make of my recent addition to my collection in late August of this year, I've wanted one since I was four having found it on a picture inside a cassette. Theres only 20 of this type made by Grover Jackson of Jackson Charvel Guitars so I had to import it from the US - this is the last one on sale: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/gb-Charvel-Sta...Bolt-SALE-.html I received a DVD of the workshops activities and interviews from San Dimas Los Angeles plus a signed check list and C.O.A - all the Luthiers now work for Fender or Jackson's Custom Shop. I'm threatened with having to sell it (I won't!!) this is only part of the reason I've put it up, I'm more intrigued as to your first impression/knowledge of the guitar/company...
 9.
brilliant! you decided to keep playing the bass then?
Did indeed Luke '56 P bass replica inbound . James Brown played a part in the persuasion.
 10.
Nice one Oli! Fancy a Sadowsky???
Haha dont tempt me further, you'll be the first I consult if I don't like it
 11.
Sold to Oli - pending payment! Thanks for all the interest guys - you are a class bunch of bassists!
Cheers Kevin! I learnt from missing out on your Nordy's previously, not sure whether to laugh or cry at current - exciting all the same!
 12. The neck on my old Tokai Hardpuncher was superbly comfy and very similar to the G&L L2000 Tribute I recently owned.
 13. Further proof of its versatility: Ed Friedland the reviewer for Bassmagazine in the US uses a GBE1200 with 212T Neo Cab, And that guy plays A LOT of basses
 14.
Can't believe there's no interest in this beauty BUMP!
I love it, just can't afford it. Sure its the same for other at the moment, but Pedulla Buzz/MVPs are near my favourite bass.
 15.
3 months is a very[ short time to wait for a custom instrument. I'm also laughing behind my hand that John Shuker has quoted you 3 months to completion - a good friend of mine has been waiting nearly 2 years. There are many custom builders in the UK. There are lots of threads about them, try a search. Personally of the two options you give I'd let Martin do the whole thing.
Could you be assed to wait two years!!? Say you fancied a P bass back then but your GAS/taste changed to a Jazz...gutted! I think i'd forget it was coming.
 16. I don't like the ying yang on instruments, it puts me off the Warwick Stage II Streamer with those inlays. I just think its a lil tacky. Its not a major put off but for the money! This coming from a man with a red burst bolt of lightening on a metallic gold guitar...Glad to hear your enjoying the Fodera though!
 17.
MB1. It be a 2 band eq Oli!
Then thats the sex!! Too bad I can only trade n px about. Gutted, love blue basses all of a sudden!
 18. Is it 2eq or 3eq?
 19.
Split !?
I'd love to but I need a buyer for the head
 20.
what kind of basses would you consider for swaps?
I'd only consider guitar amps in trade from now on.
 21.
Hi, Let me know if you are interested. I see your from Carlisle / Cardiff. If you were around Carlisle next week I could meet you as I will be visiting Penrith. All the best
Aww damn, i'm in my Student accomodation in Cardiff at current. I only hesitate because I've always fancied the two pickup model - doesn't look as good as this one though for the condition.
