  1. That one kinda looked like it had been dragged around by the headstock for most of its life
  2. Early '70s IIRC, the board had not been especially well done and needed some wizardry from Paul to get it right. I bought it to go on a mongrel '71 P/J I had at the time but realised after all the hassle and work that the bass in question worked better with a Precision neck 🤔 It was also an expensive lesson in not trusting everything an apparently expert and highly rated musical instrument dealer tells you about a neck 😡
  3. Unless there's two extremelty similar necks out there (split in the binding at the heel being the giveaway), I suspect that's my old neck, bought form the US around 15 years back, and then worked on by Paul Herman at Wal. Although sold to me as 'original', it's not original per se in that the board has been replaced (unlined and bound ebony boards not having been an option on 70's Jazzes). But it remains a lovely neck 👍
  4. John East had a similar charging system on the P-Retro (not USB, 1/4 jack, but similar principle) 👍
  5. I'm going to experiment with the Status neck on a Jazz body routed for an MM PUP, I love the tone of the Ray, I love the playability of the Status neck 👍
  6. Something quite Thin Lizzy about the first track 👍
  7. Great pics, looks a great gig. Love your bass also 👍
  8. That’s a fair point 🤔
  9. Drummers either have a small car or no car, go figure?
  10. Unattractive relic to my eye, lots of battering round the edges rather than player wear
  11. That’s the truth of it 👍
  12. If you want it be quick however, as I appear to be changing my mind a lot at the moment and it wouldn't take a lot of convincing for me to keep it
  13. Rather torn about this and certainly not overly keen to sell, but I bought it recently to do a better job than a Status Jazz in an RHCP project but I think I prefer the Jazz. I'm selling for slightly less than I paid, c'est la vie. Trade-wise I'd like a decently large amp, Boogie, Ampeg, WHYG? This has a forearm contour that I assume is a modification (as opposed to factory), but as you can see, has been very well done. I can get to London or most of SE (or beyond) for a handover, and given this thing is 100% bombproof I'm happy to post in a hard case 👍 More details here

  15. Well on the face of it, it's a pre-CBS at the price of an early 70's, so I'm thinking if it was legit it would have been snapped up already, there's about £5k resale profit in there for someone
  16. Yep, the Basschat Rule: if it looks to good to be true.....
  17. Mmm, no feedback, odd price, indicates London but offers shipping only to lower 48 states.......
  18. Happy to consider trades for this or I'll put it on eBay/Reverb 👍
  19. So, no-one's put their hand up for this, and having played it again this weekend I'd be pretty mad to sell it. I bought it for a Chilis project for which I subsequently also the SUB because I think it suits the project better (I really wanted a Modulus Flea). But to be honest the Jazz is just so bloody good I would be kicking myself about in the pretty near future, although I suspect I'd feel the same if I sold the SUB also. Problems, problems, problems
  20. Keep them mate. Even my ‘little’ Diesel 2x10 blows the socks off pretty much every cab I’ve owned with the exception of my two bigger Diesel cabs 👍
  21. I remember them as Fat Fingers as well 👍
  22. So, this is where I've got to........ Very light sandpaper revealed that under the white paint a previous owner appears to have sanded the original finish before applying the paint (where the finish is worn through to the wood is very very smooth, and while there's enough original finish to work with - on which the lovely checking is still visible - even that has signs of previous quite heavy sanding. Also looks like there's been a repair under the rout, I'd guess a battery compartment was installed and then filled. Think I'm going to do some very mild relicing to the wood so that it matches the feel and colour of the other areas of bare wood which are significantly darker.
