  1. Anyway, back to the music 👍
  2. In case the Messner reference was obscure…. https://www.theonion.com/beaver-overthinking-dam-1819568416
  3. Interestingly I’m still thinking this through Dennis Messner style. Do I 1. Use hide glue alone 2. Use bolts and hide glue My gut feel is option 2….. Either way I’m doing the work next week 👍
  4. Need to see some pics mate 👍
  5. Exactly 👍
  6. Just f***ing love them, simple as. Saw them miming at the Olympic closing ceremony last night, and even that made me smile. Over and above always seeming to land albums at pivotal points in my life - I was living in Venice Beach when BSSM was released, fell in love to One Hot Minute only to experience a very painful break-up soundtracked by Californication, with something of a recovery to Stadium Arcadium (yep, long and tough tough break-up) - it’s probably also a combination of my being the same age as Flea, having been a slap player in a funk-rock band in 85-86, and having that strange sense that no matter how much I love mote credible styles, and especially Jazz and upright, if there was one band I’d love to have played in…. Another upside, wearing a RHCP t-shirt tends to get you served quicker in bars 😆
  7. First gig with band in 2010, 120 miles from home, singist hasleft mic bag at home and drummer had done the same with his stick case. I sorted the former although meant no BVs from me, rhythm guitarist - I suspect with good reason - takes sticks to all gigs so sorted the latter. I only gigged with them the once
  8. Yes please can you PM details Gareth?
  9. I suspect a mistake many of us make is expecting good technicians to also be good composers?
  10. All’s well that ends well 👍
  11. We’ll agree to disagree on that 👍
  12. There’s a lot of truth in the above, there is some incredible music being made right now, I’m always humbled by how much of the music my kids listen to is innovative, skilfully executed, and well produced, despite being performed by artists who you might expect to be the opposite. It’s too easy to get trapped in a genre/era model and not see real innovation elsewhere
  13. Don’t start argumentative threads then
  14. As I’ve said before on BC, the guy’s playing inspires me, I’ve worked on some of his versions and they’ve helped my technique no end, he’s not an album musician but that’s not his thing 👍
  15. Seriously, your views in music are not shared by everyone so you threaten people, perhaps get out on the streets and threaten some minorities while you’re at it 👍
  16. Nice 👌
  17. There have been rumours Jack 🙂
  18. And if it’s still around in early September I’ll be coming down to try it out Lawrie 👍
  19. Beautiful, a unique and quite extraordinary instrument. These sell for stupid money in the US, hard to put a ‘normal’ price on UK sales given they come up for sale around once every five years here. They also have unique tone, perfect for bluegrass and country but surprisingly good in jazz (great for rockabilly of course). Frankly I think Lawrie’s underpriced this, but he’s like that 👍

    Flatter.

And a very chunky/deep neck profile. If I ever need to change between fretted and fretless on the same bass - happens occasionally - it's a 15-minute job to swap necks over and tweak action. Think I'll stick with that method 👍
