Glorious playing in there, shows how some latitude in timing of an individual part helps the feel of the whole- 6 replies

Really looking forward to seeing this develop, great work

As it says above really, I've had it with Avid and the concurrent increasingly poor delivery and increasingly high cost of Pro Tools, and having just invested in an AUD interface LUNA looks like it might solve some problems and save some money. Keen to hear people's thoughts, although either way I'm going to do some experimentation this week.

Logged into Pro Tools today to receive an error message stating that I have five days left to renew my subscription and that Avid are giving me extra time? I pay monthly, the payment went through about two weeks ago (with the inevitable extremely slow log in the session following that monthly renewal). Total log in time today over 5 minutes, so this is really the final straw with PT, or more to the point perhaps, with AVID and their appalling subscription model. I still have all the original disks from when I bought PT, I'm wondering if I can reinstall an old OS onto my 'recording' iMac and simply use it un-networked?

Quite like to collar one to be honest

Great for bass licks

Growly tone though

I can find lot of information about using a Thunderbolt 2 hardware device into a computer with Thunderbolt 3 ports, I've not had much luck with the opposite, a T3 device into a computer with T2 ports. Any know if this is going to work before I invest the rather extortionate £45 on an adapter? Thanks. Chris

I feel your pain mate, this is pretty much where I found myself this time last year. Only takes on bit of software that will no longer run on an OS and things start getting messy. I 'upgraded' the OS on my MacBook around that time to allow myself to use some Apps I needed and nearly everything else, including my Thunderbolt display, simply stopped working. The messing about and workarounds got silly to I ended up buying a Mac Mini and reverting the MacBook. I'm still trying to work out the best way to have all of my machines using the same software and, ideally all able to connect to the same hardware. Re recording software, I'm currently looking at Luna as I have swapped one of my RME's for a UAD. I've probably made things worse however

That's lucky, 'cos without the Wal for scale, none of us would have the slightest clue how big a bass rig is That's a stunning rig mate, wish I could justify spending the money on it, or perhaps more correctly, wish I had the money to spend on it. Sorry to hear about the work situation, good luck and hey, you've got a Wal

On its way to Walshy as I write

That made me smile, brilliant. I don't know who the signature belongs to. Oh and by the way, I can't authenticate the signature. Oh, or the bass. But it was signed in 2007 in San Francisco. This type of advert is sadly mostly absent today's eBay, part of me would love to know who's signature it is

Ah, in your first post you said it was new. Yep, certainly sounds like it needs to get to a tech for a look-over. Might be something you could do yourself but probably best not to try

I'm withdrawing this, at least for the time being, as whilst basses come and go, these are few and far between and increasingly expensive used. If I got my work location sorted I would be using it daily, and I think that's what I'm going to aim for. I'm rather embarrassed to admit that I assumed I could replace this hardware version with the UAD plugin which gets some very good reviews, but I didn't do my homework and that version will only run on Universal Audio hardware. So, all in all it's nice to be able to keep it -
Yep, so many people get that wrong "why would the G-string rattle when I play the A-string?", because it's the frequency of the note that causing the rattle, not the mechanical components of the string on which the note is played. We used to rehearse in studio which had so many loose and noisy items in the room that you could play a kind of mid-70's Dusseldorf school avante garde industrial music piece just by kwnoing which notes on which instruments were going to start the various bits of metal rattling and for how long

Mmmmm, a new bass on which the back bow is so severe as to stop the strings vibrating below 7th fret has experienced more than some subtle changes in temperature/humidity (even if not tuned to pitch), it's been poorly built, even if the extent of that poor QC is a bridge that's too low or a neck that's at the wrong angle to the body. If it were a solid body on which it's easy to adjust things like string height and action, and even to shim the neck, I might advise a bit of experimentation, but not on an acoustic in which the options are generally far more limited. Back to the manufacturer with it quickly

You need to send it straight back, anything you try to do to sort it out might firstly make things worse but secondly invalidate warranty. A new instrument should at the very least be playable. Good luck. Chris
