  1. I get the same result with the tuner first. If there's no signal in to the pedals then there's no noise out of them.
  2. There's a lot of dumb stuff for sale on Amazon but this has to be competing for the dumbest.
  3. I love the sound of fuzz in to a fazer but fazer in to fuzz doesn't sound as good to me
  4. They're brilliant if you want a tiny engine with the performance of a medium size engine and the fuel consumption of an absolutely massive engine. Their biggest advantage is their simplicity which makes the regular rebuild to replace rotor tips much easier.
  5. Tuner always goes first. The rest is a matter of trial and error. Mine is: Tuner - Compressor - Fuzz & Distortion - Preamp I do go for a bass tone which one would not traditionally describe as nice or desirable or even acceptable.
  6. Dammit you're right. I always thought the bass drone note shifted with the chord but it doesn't. Well that makes it a lot easier.
  7. Please keep the discussion to basses. Start a new thread for percussion discussion
  8. I kind of get the appeal of the Harley engine. They do feel incredibly unstressed and effortless. You will never shift down for a hill and they'll pull from pretty low speed in top without bogging down. They do feel more agricultural than most tractors and the vibration does mean bolts regularly come loose. It's the chassis I found particularly horrible when I rode one. I was conscious that I should take cornering very steady because of the limited ground clearance but I was shocked at just little lean it took to ground the foot boards. It also had to be fully upright before giving it any throttle or it just started weaving and wobbling.
  9. I know he has used it live but didn't he generally play an Aria the same as Cliffs?
  10. Is it just me or is this really tricky? At 49 seconds (in this video) the drone note changes from the open D to (I think) an F. I cannot work out how to play this and allow that note to keep ringing out while fretting the notes on the G string. Is it me or does this require particularly long and flexible fingers?
  11. I remember a Rig Rundown video with Nita Strauss where she said she uses her signature ibanez exactly as they are in the shops. Matt Freeman of Rancid had a signature Squier P bass but he's only ever played his Fender live. Doyle from Misfits (the guitarist) was asked about his signature guitar in an interview. To say he was not complimentary would be an understatement, he said no one should buy it because its all wrong.
  12. The current 1200 seems pretty reasonable really. They're around 120 hp I think which isn't bad for a cruiser.
  13. Harley Davidson used to make a model called the Sportster Sport which is the only production motorcycle ever to have sport in its name twice. Its also one of the least sporty motorcycles ever made. Its 1200cc motor made less power than my 10 year old little 250cc Suzuki I owned at the time of its launch and the Harley was nearly 50% heavier.
  14. Harley have actually been modernising in recent years with such futuristic tech as water cooling and fuel injection and even electric bikes. I still wouldn't want one though. I did see a Harley bagger with the typical leather and denim wearing rider with Adele playing from the built-in cd player. I've never heard anyone play Adele on a Rickenbacker.
  15. Monty Python. The constitutional peasants. Now where is my speed boat prize?
  16. Last band I was in was an authoritan dictatorship and he ruled with an iron fist. It sucked so I quit then the drummer quit then they gave up. Current band is more like a hippy commune. It's friendly and relaxed. It is all for fun though, none of us expect to make money.
  17. I've got two Mexican standard P basses. The one in standard tuning I'm absolutely satisfied with, can't fault it at all. The one in drop A# may get replaced but I can't decide what with.
  18. Their worst was really bad though. I see Metallica as being a lot like Foo Fighters in that they have some really brilliant songs but there's so much filler in between the killer tracks. It feels like they never abandon an idea, everything gets recorded.
  19. It's not their best work is it? Big budget recording of a very average song.
