  1. My first bass was a Peavey International 4. My daughter has it now and it's still great, it sounds and plays really nice. We recently bought her an International 5 in perfect condition and it cost £150. Why are these basses so cheap? Are they seen as bottom spec budget or is there some reason no one wants them?
  2. I have booked some lessons. A local bassist I've got to know recently has started up lessons.
  3. Symptom of the Universe One of the heaviest songs ever recorded and Geezers fills were tastefully awesome.
  4. I do hit the strings pretty hard. Maybe that's my problem. Geezer Butler manages to hit hard but he's a hell of a lot more talented than I am
  5. Jaco Pistorious. Does nothing for me, all very fancy playing but I just don't get it. Fieldy All strings clattering on frets and no notes. Billy Sheehan All very fancy but most of the time I can't help thinking something more simple would serve the song better
  6. I'm trying to make an effort to improve my technique (there's plenty of room to improve) and I've got a couple exercises to try to solve the flying fretting fingers but need something to help my generally crap plucking technique. Any good tips?
  7. Planets Collide - Crowbar
  8. Inhaler - Foals
  9. My Penis Is Small - Treephort
  10. I thought it would help with writing, especially coming up with fills and little solo breaks.
  11. That'll do nicely. Ta. Natural minor is about all I'll ever use.
  12. I'm looking for charts with 5 string scale shapes but can't find any. Is there a website that's good for this sort of thing?
  13. Frog Chorus Proof that McCartney was not a song writing genius
  14. Happy by Pharrell Williams Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys There are many songs I dislike but these two hate with a deep passion.
  15. It's an opinion, I wouldn't exactly describe it as remotely "edgy"
  16. As Mr Dare says, it won't keep up with a drummer but otherwise a perfectly decent amp. If you're playing with a drummer, you'll want at least 100w
  17. There's plenty inbetween root notes on the beat and a million notes a minute that doesn't really go anywhere.
  18. He's a typical social media musician. Completely over plays and would sound better if he left out 90% of the notes he plays. No groove and always flashy playing over creating something good to listen to
  19. Arise - Sepultura
  20. He did ask if it was OK first. He didn't touch my collie
  21. I saw this band at a festival last year and they were awesome. Serious talent on the drums and vocals and nice use of a bass VI
  22. My daughters band (who are really good) have played a few shows in the town center for various town events and twice, Danny Goffey from Supergrass was spotted in the audience. Seth Lakeman has been spotted as well but only the once.
  23. The EHB has the same Bartolini pickups as my SRMS805. They're pretty weak and lack punch. You can make it sound good if you have a really nice amp but through a normal amp (like my Ashdown ABM600) it just sounds a bit flat and lifeless. I use so much overdrive that it doesn't matter
  24. Since I left the band in December, I haven't played my SRMS805. I've only played my old Squier P Bass, until tonight. The Ibanez plays so nicely and sounds nasty. I tuned it up to C to play some Kyuss. Bloody lovely. This was the last time I played it in my old stoner/sludge metal band.
