So each humcancelling pup has 2 coils and there are 2 of each of these pups in a case... ergo there are 4 coils. They are calling it exactly what it is; a QUAD coil pick-up.

Where can i get a nut for an 8 string (octaves) bass?

If you buy a blank at least you can notch it to suit... and it'll be 1/20th of the cost of a Warwick one! -
Which Harley Benton pedalboard do tou have and how many pedals are on it?
warwickhunt replied to lidl e's topic in Effects
It isn't the quantity of outs that I need to be aware of it is the amount of juice; the Plethora needs 600mA and if you have other pedals drawing power on a unit it can actually reduce the amount of juice being supplied across the board (often in the small print of any power supply). -

USB is a handy feature but that wouldn't have enough juice from any of the individual outputs to drive one of my pedals and digital pedals are very fussy. Oddly the juice from the Power Bar should easily supply the BBE but for some reason it just will not run if I use anything other than it's own dedicated wall-wart. -

My pedalboard has a gigbag and while it protects them, I literally carry them by hand to car to gig; they don't get thrown in with general band gear or transported/carried by anyone else. If your velcro is good they don't budge from where they are. One down side of the Palmer Power Bar that I use is that the powers protrude from the top and I unplug the leads from the Power Bar each time, I really should just secure the protective strip on the back edge. -

I have a seperate pedalboard that has BOSS pedals on but I could easily get 8 of that size pedal on the 40. You just need to consider where the in/out jacks go, some pedals are on the top, most on the sides. -

I have the 40 but it is just for a couple of large pedals. -
I know you use the TC Plethora mate, do you find this issue when running the compressor?
-
Do you usually have a reaction to other materials/strings? I've just ordered a set of monel strings for my Baritone guitar... never had an issue with any other material, hope these aren't giving too many people grief.

Assuming both of your cabs are 8 ohm (about 90% of cabs are), then any amp that will operate at 4 ohms (about 99% do) will be fit for purpose. Just out of interest why did you choose 2 different manufacturers and 2 different speaker configurations? If you have a PF 115HE why not get another identical it makes more sense. 500w output is a sensible power rating, you'll rarely need more and if you do you should be using PA support. The only unknown is what sound / tone you are trying to achieve.

I'm just wondering what the 2nd had values will be like... goes to check down the side of the sofa in readiness for the glut in 3 months time.

Not a lot of money for solid wood, Gotoh tuners etc. but are the pups any good?

Creating a monster (lead singer problem)
warwickhunt replied to Mickeyboro's topic in General Discussion
Agreed and the singer has to be able to sing it but the issue comes when you have an individual who refuses to do literally anything that the others like... by definition it ends up where you only do what they want. I've been in covers bands for 40 years and over that time I've played 100's (and 100's) of songs, some I don't rate but I came to a decision years ago that if I or anyone else 'really' hated a song it wouldn't be done but you can't really hate EVERY song suggested. -
Creating a monster (lead singer problem)

Errrrm it's a covers band. Unless this is a top notch tribute of course it'll be a hobby, the singer is being a bit of a tool for not having a bit of give/take! Unless you form a band around 'you' and make it clear from the off that it is your band and you have the only say, then everyone should have a voice... not just the person with the biggest personality or the person who is happy to be a bully! I was in a band that focused on American/Southern boogie/blues/soul and we had a nice broad range of covers material to choose from and the whole band had known each other for years and been in bands with each other over the last 30+ years. Early song choices were unanimous (6 in the band) but as we got to the point where we were getting some good buzz about the band, we needed to add material. In our case one of the guitarists started to be the stumbling block. We eventually agreed the best way to choose songs would be for everyone to choose 2 songs and we'd have a simple ranking vote on the 12 songs, the 3 with the most votes would be learned next; nice and fair/democratic... you'd think! We turned up to the next rehearsal having messaged everyone the 3 songs the week before to find the guitarist hadn't learned any of them and wouldn't be learning them as he was going to sit out those songs and go to the bar! To rub salt in the wound we ended up learning one of his suggestions which had received exactly 1 vote... his. The band lasted about 2 more weeks and that was it, we folded, tried to reform but tbh he was pretty vitriolic about the fact we had effectively sacked him and made it quite uncomfortable among the various friendships. Applying what I learned to the OP situation I'd be up front with the singer and point out it is a 'band' and everyone needed to have a say. His bully-boy tactics will only continue to cause grief, so it may as well be all for one or he has to walk (not be sacked). -

No... but I'm sure my wife does!

His thinking is that a component in the preamp is failing but only when its been on a while and gets properly warmed up. This fault then loads the TX (transformer) to the point that it overheats and damages one of the windings... seems reasonable. He's ordering a replacement transformer free of charge and he's going to run tests with the amp operating under load for extended periods. Fingers crossed.
-
When I have the amp back in my possession I'll try. <edit/update> I forwarded the image to the Tech that did the last transformer and it just so happens that he felt bad that his work had failed so he was looking at what he could do. He thought there should at least be a fuse on the HT side that would prevent the transformer cooking again (his transformer was rated 50% higher than the original). He is also going through every component to see what could have generated the fault, there wasn't any obvious cause and the amp operated as per normal when he replaced the original failed transformer).
