1.
Do you know what, I've actually been giving this some serious thought over recent weeks. Do you reckon your average 4 string jazz would cope OK dropping the tuning down one?
I've dropped the E down to D on my Warwicks for the last 20 years. I tried one of the de-tuners when they first came out but found it easier and more reliable to just give the tuner a twist and tune by ear. One string being dropped by a tone doesn't upset the neck on my Sadowsky or Lakland either.
 2. Cracking little set-up for not a lot of money; that would be great for anyone stepping up from their first combo/practice amp. I'd be very surprised if someone doesn't snap this up very soon!
 3. I'll take the Soundcraft and Tascam please mate.
 4.
It's a great price - only slightly more than an LH500. Things to be aware of; the power's split into two feeds - unless you use the speakon bridge out which then delivers so much power, you'll prob blow the cones out of your single cab. The LH500 is a single feed. Apparently they're a fair bit heavier too. Reverb doing the LH500 for £299 at the mo. If you're running a couple of cabs though, this would prob sound HUGE. Edit: first impressions of the LH500 (at low level) is that it is very warm sounding; creamy almost. Mert will prob be along in a minute to back that up!
Doh! Must type quicker. Similar line of thought though.
 5.
Thinking I may need a spare amp head , are these still a good deal compared to when they first came out .dont know what the original price was ,best I've seen so far is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=180356634457 Currently using an old 1973 Ampeg B4B Valve head into a 4x10 cabinet , I dont expect the Hartke to be as warm sounding ,but what are users opinions. Cheers
That looks a decent price! I'm not sure why you doubt how 'warm sounding' the Hartke will be; I've played some SS amps that are far warmer sounding than valve amps and by all accounts the Hartke does a decent impression of valve 'warmth'. Looking at that eBay listing, one thing I'd want clarifying is; what power is the Hartke delivering into what loads? Dual Parallel Mode: 2 x 225 watts @ 8 ohms, 2 x 320 watts @ 4 ohms, 2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms I'm thinking/typing out loud here but I'd have to assume that 2 x 545 watts @ 2 ohms = a pair of 4 ohm cabs releases the full power and that you'd be getting 320 watts into a pair of 8 ohm cabs... yes that has to be it!
 6. With a service like that it's a shame the jack plugs just won't work in a couple of my basses!
 7.
such nice photos! loving that red streamer, though i'm not totally sure what it is?
Streamer Pro M
 8.
You sound like you're 'all at sea' with basses John. You want a light 4 stringed bass, are you set on a Jazz of some sort? What is it you like in terms of tone? Maybe you need to set up a poll My advice would be to try as many as possible without looking at the name on the headstock and you might be surprised.
I'm having another of my annual clear-outs! Ultimately there isn't much point in me holding on to any bass that exceeds about 9lb in weight as I have discovered (through much painful research) that the figure quoted is the magic figure for inducing grief. So as it stands I have 3 Warwicks, 1 Lakland, 1 Variax and a Yamaha that need new homes but I'm not about to give things away in desperation. Oddly enough I'm only offering to take something in part-ex as I like just trying basses out. I own a couple of basses that fulfill ALL of my requirements (Bolin - fingerstyle/finesse & Sadowsky Metro PJ - that rock/slap/thump thang) but I quite enjoy looking to see if there is anything better and I'm not fussed as to the label but it DOES matter what it weighs. Polls are good fun but as you rightly point out I need to just pick things up and try them added to which some people have strange ideas about what constitutes light and how to weigh a bass!
 9. Withdrawn while I take stock of what I'm doing with this bass!
 10.
im interested
Excellent.
how heavy is it?
17.5kg... any chance of a weight for the Geddy?
 11.
MB1. ....The Torque of the Tyne..... ....Extended Tumbleweed Bump!
Please feel free to keep them coming... it keeps me at the top!
 12.
you dont fancy a trade for a geddy do you? very light

you dont fancy a trade for a geddy do you? very light

you dont fancy a trade for a geddy do you? very light
What! All 3 of them? You are more than welcome to shoot me an offer... inc' a weight for the Geddy.
 13.
ah, same make as my first amp had the 35w and 100w of these, lovely little amps. Have a bump
Cheers Kev. I thought £45 was cheap enough for a full size, combo with Eminence driver and reasonable features!
 14.
Bass is in Paris but i can bring it to London for series buyers
I'm a series buyer... can't leave the bloody things alone, keep buying one, then another, then another, ad infinitum. Unfortunately your lovely bass is 'blue' and I don't do blue, so I can not be considered a serious buyer! Good luck though.

 21. I've used this as a little practice combo and it has been used for little 'show' gigs at the school where I work. It has never been thrashed or used at anything above 50% volume. It 'won't' be ideal for a gigging bassist who is playing with a loud drummer but it will happily gig with amplified electro-acoustics etc. It has a DI out, headphones socket, compressor, 6 band EQ etc. One of the knobs that controls the compressor has dropped off (insert witty comment below ), but the shaft (insert...) is still there and it works fine. Not wanting a lot for it... £50 collected. I'd rather not courier it as it is easy to flightcase/pack a bass but combos/amps etc are more prone to damage! SOLD pending payment; to the owner of my local pub for the jam nights!
 22.
... so im considering selling my RS4 Metro to get a more vintage sounding Fender!! Any thoughts/ideas would be great
Weigh your RS and if the weight suits, sell it to me and you'll have the cash to do what you like... there's an idea.
 23. This might help. If you want the rest of the images up just give me a shout!
