1.
Hi all. I've been speaking to Kevin Drexler at Sadowsky about a custom order. As I was about to confirm it all, I realised that I have never played an NYC! I have, of course, played the Metro series, but never a NYC. Is there anyone on here with an NYC in the Suffolk/Norfolk area that I could try? I'll let you play with mine while I'm on yours... Thanks in advance. Adam.
With the caveat that every bass differs to some degree I'd have to say that of the 2 NYC's (1 owned) and the 3 Metros (1 owned) I've tried, there wasn't a 'massive' difference in feel and playability between any of them; so if you've been happy with how a Metro plays then you can expect the same if not better. When it comes to tone that is different and a lot more subjective and it'd be totally dependent upon what it's loaded with and what the wood combinations of your choice would be. What are you likely to be going for?
 2.
Wasn't there a saying about adding up the 'watts' of all the guitarists in the band , adding 100 w for the drummer , then doubling it and that's the number of watts you should use???
Phew, glad I don't play in a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band!
 3. I suppose you have to consider the 'potential' hassle offset against the saving. Just out of interest how much are you saving over the cost of buying from The Bass Merchant/The Gallery/GAK?
 4. Hello en onthaal. I have fond memories of Utrecht, I did some gigs over there about 20 years ago... a pure coincidence totally unrelated to your age I assure you! I'd fire away with questions about your Celinder, folks would love to drool over pics as well.
 5. Sunday - Warwick Streamer Ltd Ed Monday - Bolin NS4 Tuesday - Warwick Streamer Stage I Wednesday - Zon Sonus Thursday - Warwick Streamer Stage II Friday - Sadowsky Metro PJ Saturday - Warwick Infinette ... Oh! Just remembered I sold my SSII this week so I need something new for Thursday. In all seriousness, I couldn't pick a favourite but if my house were burning down and I could only save 1 bass it would be the Infinette... or maybe the Bolin... NO the Sado... but maybe I could tuck the Zon under my arm...
 6.
How much for the mic stand John?
£550... but you get the rest of the PA for free!
 7.
Guess I'm just curious about all the Fender-love that's been going around lately... that and the Fenders are a fair bit cheaper than another Sad
Some brands will wax, some will wane but there'll always be Fender! However, you are right about cost.
 8.
MB1. ....Found the old Kodak Instamatic Yet? BUMP!
The cabs are being retrieved from the back of his 'den' (not an easy task as he has an Aladdin's Cave of stuff) but he reckons he'll not get time to do anything till the back end of next week. As soon as he has them out he's gonna give me a call and I'll get the pics.
 9.
Ive got to say, I really like the style and sound of your Sadowsky PJ....it really works for me!
Cheers. I loved the NYC model that I had with the 'Big Singles' in but tbh in my band contexts, the PJ does it for me! It's been said before but the Metro range are 'almost' if not as well put together as the NYC basses you just don't get the fancy tops etc.
 10. I have to say that I just did some demo recordings (to produce a CD to get gigs) and the Sadowsky was as growly as any of my Warwicks and needed NO tweaking or EQing to sound full and superb!
I am thinking about getting a Fender (after years of not liking any I've played). Possibly a 4 string PJ to complement the Sadowsky. Any opinions on the various artist PJs? Frank Bello, Tony Franklin fretted, Reggie Hamilton.
Why not get a Sadowsky PJ?
 11. This is an absolutely, unequivocal, shameless plug here but you could buy a cracking pair of cabs and a 1200w power amp from me for £350 which leaves you £50 to buy a preamp pedal or similar. You'd NEVER need worry about headroom and if push came to shove you'd have a spare PA system! 12. Peavey did a pair of digital/switching 1U amps (DPC750/1000) but they are discontinued now. They come up used now and again, I'd certainly look out for those; though be aware that they are as deep as a deep thing as regards to fitting into a rack.
 13.
Are you interested in selling the Notepad mixer - if so how much/would you post? Cheers.
I only recently got that and I was only offering it to try and help sell my PA system, so I'd rather hold onto it.
 14. I will split the rig: Soundcraft 12 channel desk (without case) - £150 Studiomaster 1200D (1200 watt) power amp - £150 Peavey 15" Black Widow HiSys II speakers - £200 Zoom 9120 reverb/delay/harmonizer rackmount multi-effects - £50 SKB 4U case (inc 1U blanking plate) - £40 Pair Heavy Duty Speaker Stands - £15 10m Speaker leads x2 (Speakon-Speakon) £10 (the pair)
 15.
Unbelievable: exactly what I'm looking for, at exactly the wrong end of the country
Unbelievably, I'm driving down to Wales tomorrow! I've had 2 people ask if I can deliver/meet. However... I'd not be keen (more to the point SWMBO wouldn't be keen) on carrying a whole chuffin PA around on holiday 'IF' someone offered to buy the kit and then changed their mind or didn't turn up for a meet! <edit> Ooops! Last chance to buy this as a whole rig as there is a mind reader on BC who may well be interested in the cabs.
 16. OK so right from the off, these are technically PA cabs (Peavey HiSys II) BUT think about this; they handle every frequency required of a bass cab and then some. BW equipped cabs are cracking bits of kit and these are no exception. I've got these up for sale as a PA set up but I've ran my Thunderfunk through one cab last night and it was quite frankly, scarily good... hence my thought to put them up as bass cabs! In fact buy the pair and the 1200w power amp I have for sale and you could scare any sound engineer sh*tless when you turn up. It would also double as a PA in the event of yours breaking! They are 4 ohm cabs rated @ 350w. The cabs are structurally solid and the rat fur to all but the bottom edges is pretty clean and tear free (they've had vinyl covers on from new, when we bought them). The grills have areas where the black powder coating has come off but tbh this is superficial and they could be tarted up very easily with a black marker pen or tin of spray paint... after removing the grills from the cabs. £200 the pair and I'd have to sell as a pair (buy the pair and sell the other), absolutely no offers. Pics on this thread. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=58294 Please note I'm now keeping one of these to use at our rehearsal space as a bass cab so there is only ONE available @ £60.
 17. I'm in the process of selling off my band's old PA system, which among other things consists of a pair of Peavey Hi-Sys II cabs; these are (IIRC) Black Widow equipped 1x15 cabs. Now for a bit of a laugh I have just run my Sadowsky/Thunderfunk through them and they were quite frankly... stunning! This led me to wonder whether I wouldn't be better off offering these cabs as individual bass cabs. They handled the bottom end fantastically well and as would be expected had sufficient top end (via the horn) to satisfy any Marcus Miller/slap fans. They are no good for me as bass cabs because of the overall size (not massive but larger than my Aggies) but my question is; why, at less than £100 a piece, wouldn't they make stonking bass cabs and why don't more people utilise used PA cabs as bass cabs? After all, full range PA cabs have to handle all of the bass frequencies and then some!
 18.
hi just a question. is the badass bridge staying on? just wondering as you didnt mention it and i didnt think they were stock?????? unless fender have suddenly developed some extra taste?
Though the range has altered slightly the BA bridges were stock as it happened.

 23.
Bump for picture of a Jaguar in use
Oh but such a sleazy opportunity to link Jaguars and other forms of feline!
 24. Playing 'Devil's Advocate' here but it has to be said that had that guy not bid on it and won at £1200, then c_p would have gotten even less for his bass! At the end of the day c-p got the market value for his bass. ... and why block a bidder who may well bump up the final sale price of your item? Just sayin.
