The bass that Luke linked to used to be mine and it bought and sold at that kind of price several times, though there have been others offered for sale for more... not to say they sold! Personally I'd say that you have to just decide is it a bass you'd like to own at the given price and to hell with the perceived value; Warwick owners have to get used to the strange prices of their instruments because it all depends on who wants what bass and when! If the shop has flexibility in the pricing, enough to come down to the price of the one linked, then I'd go for it... if you don't then tell me where it is and you can buy it off me when it sells back on Basschat.

I'm new to EUB and I'm plugging my NS WAV into a BBE 'Acoustimax' preamp (3 band EQ inc variable mid, notch filter and BBE Sonic Maximiser circuit), ot sounds fine but I've no idea what 'extra' a top quality preamp would give me... any thoughts?

Slacken the truss rod right off and string tension should pull it forward, if that fails then with no tension on the neck you may need to apply pressure to the neck to bend it into a concave arc and then get the strings up to tension (probably best with the help of a friend). Failing that it is a luthier job to look at resetting the neck, possibly removing the fingerboard... probably not cost effective on a bass such as this!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated Michael [/quote] Be sure that you love the Squier before you start going down that route Michael, as preamp upgrades aren't generally cheap and fitting something like you have suggested will cost almost as much as the bass is worth... and it won't mean that the bass will be worth significantly more with it fitted!

Keep this among friends but I've not properly fretted a note in 5 years; muted the strings and played a dull thunk in time with the required notes... no body has noticed yet!

[/quote] For the battery cover to snap off within two weeks of owning a new bass does seem extreme (I'm assuming that the battery was being changed for the very first time, so these clips went on the very first usage). It certainly isn't unheard of for the battery covers to give up the ghost (I presently have 3 Warwicks and one is taped on, whilst one of them is jammed in place) and is probably second only to 'chocolate fire-guard' jack sockets for common Warwick faults. As for the pick-up mountings - Warwick pups are mounted on springs (almost like shock absorbers) which have always had some give in them, I've known people add foam under the pups to firm it up and at the extreme for someone to put a block of wood underneath the pup so that it was fixed at a set height but it's down to personal preference and not everyone will like the 'spring-loading'... of course yours could have a separate issue! Saying all of that I have NEVER seen a Warwick with a misaligned/incorrectly fitted bridge or skew-whiff neck alignment... not something I could say about F*nd*r. In fact there's a brand new (Road-Worn) bass for sale on here at the minute that has this very issue and it must be the third I've seen on here in as many months. Now THAT I'd have issue with.

Fenders have taken some serious price hikes of late; for instance a MIM RW bass would appear to be seriously inflated and pretty much inline percentage increase wise with the Warwicks being discussed. [/quote] A lovely thought and some basses are 'advertised' at those prices but you can still find 80's - 90's NT Warwick basses on ebay for less than that! However... the state of the new prices means that values of older Warwicks will soon go through the roof!

Not sure about exact models but I've never had any problems with soloed MEC Jazz style pups in the NT active basses and I doubt that would be different to the rest of the range. Not sure that any of the MEC J pups are single coil passive so it'll not be an issue.

The non-original pup and what look like extra switches will affect the value to a degree.
