What are you listening to right now?
Nail Soup replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Sad to hear that. I hope your use of past tense means your daughter is OK (or thereabouts) now. It must be a really difficult thing to support someone through. -
I'm not keen on the 'self-rhyme'.... see example from Black Sabbath War Pigs: Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses

Sting may not have read Nabakov either!

I can't improve on the advice from @Doddy : Multi Effect :oom B3 or a Line 6 M5 TC Electronic for individual pedals.
-
To keep it company you might like a Hardman Hammer:

As said above, a decent budget multi-effect is a good place to start. Especially if you can borrow (as in your case). As also said, decent budget individual pedals are available. Watch out for the 'boutique' pedals, going down that road can get expensive. Also think about how you will power the pedals...... you don't want to lose power due to a flat battery. And batteries can be expensive too. Many use a mains power pack to run their pedals. I use a rechargable battery pack to avoid mains leads on stage. Not exactly an effect, but you may wonder about using compression. In this case you may find a lot of heated debate about it on on-line forums š.

I don't think open tunings are much help on bass (too muddy).... but alternative tunings might be usefull. For example making open notes available to use as a drone, or open notes which you can play between fretted notes. Or to make certain sequences playable.

Mr Brightside - The hit that just won't die
Nail Soup replied to Nail Soup's topic in General Discussion
Was that working in a pub which has covers bands? Mr Brightside looks to be here for a while Iām afraid -
Oh, come on! Scott wears white gloves

Bit complicated. Surely a better solution is to make a pit in the floor. This would have its own natural boundary, and no need to calculate neck reach etc.

Thanks. I'll probably take the days I need to evaluate (60 might be enough) then, if reaper becomes part of my tool set, pay the license fee.

I just tries it with the settings above............ ..... and it works. I have a MOV file with sound! (Played back with Windows media player) these are the properties..... looks OK to me: Thanks @skidder652003 I think I'm in business for video.....and can continue my evaluation of Reaper.š

Great picture and backstory @Leonard Smalls !

BBC news just said Mr Brightside by the Killers has become the longest chart song ever or something. "According to the Official Chart Company, Mr Brightside is streamed 1.2 million times a week on average, and has sold 3.52 million copies since it was first released in 2003." Thanks, but .. it was 55 at the first lockdown, so 56 now! -
If I understand it correctly the post-Lynott line up of Thin Lizzy have an alter-ego band Black Star Riders. BSR is for when they write new material. I think they now generally do BSR and only occasionally use the TL alias.

Thanks @skidder652003 I don't have an option for mpeg 4 (just 1 or 2), but I do have a MOV option and with MOV option comes options for PCM (16 bit or 24 bit): I tried it like this but still silent: If this setting works for others then I guess there must be something wrong in the video support files?

I hope I never have this experience š (to be fair I'd probably enjoy a lot of it š) -
Listening to 6music on catch-up tonight and they played a session by band called Monotony. They are actually another band (Sauna Youth) who just swapped instruments and formed the alter-ego band. They record and gig in both incarnations. Any favourite examples where a band formed an alter-ego band?

Reminds me of a folk festival I went to couple of years ago. Martin Harley played a set with his usual outstanding slide guitar. The next act came on, and the guitarist got out a slide for one song and proceded to play the most basic possible slide part. At the end of the song he walked up to the mic and said "Eat your heart out Martin Harley!"........ made me laugh anyway. -

A bloke at a folk circle I used to attend did it. I would say it made it hard t o follow the chords by looking at his hands, but most of the time he played complex Jazz chords which I wouldn't have followed any way up!
