  1. Listening to 6music on catch-up tonight and they played a session by band called Monotony. They are actually another band (Sauna Youth) who just swapped instruments and formed the alter-ego band. They record and gig in both incarnations. Any favourite examples where a band formed an alter-ego band?
  2. Reminds me of a folk festival I went to couple of years ago. Martin Harley played a set with his usual outstanding slide guitar. The next act came on, and the guitarist got out a slide for one song and proceded to play the most basic possible slide part. At the end of the song he walked up to the mic and said "Eat your heart out Martin Harley!"........ made me laugh anyway.
  3. A bloke at a folk circle I used to attend did it. I would say it made it hard t o follow the chords by looking at his hands, but most of the time he played complex Jazz chords which I wouldn't have followed any way up!
  4. I'm evaluating reaper, about 10 days into the 60. One key thing I need, which I don't get in Studio One, is to make videos. First off, I could not import vidoe, abut after importing some files (see otehr thread) it will import video. I've successfully recorded a track with drums (programmed), bass, guitar, keys (Midi) and vox and applied a few effects. All rendered to WAV very well. So far so good. I added some video clips, chopped them up to have changes at each bar. That worked well. I rendered to video, and it looks OK, but no audio. Tried a few different formats, but no sound. Hoping the Basschat brains can help 🤞 See screenshots:
  5. You chose an interesting age threshold , as the first lockdown happened a week or so before my 55th Birthday (It's tomorrow if anyone cares!). I missed my first gig with my new band and a few in the diary for my continuing band. We are punk/new wave and normally play to people are own age. Our drummer is much younger and sometimes we get some of his crowd along. And his mum/dad! Our guitarist gets us gigs at beer festivals where there is a more mixed age range. We normally go down OK, but best with the oldies! I fully intend to gig after 55 though.
  6. Interesting. I'd like to hear more about that!
  7. oops we started the numbers too high at 1...... Nine Below Zero.
  8. If we go numeric next: 1 is for 1Direction Sorry🙁
  9. I don’t get it..... slap would be the ideal way to fill up all that silly space in the reggae bass lines 😉
  10. I think that even a cover of a painting has it's place. There may be a famous painting you'd like on you wall, but can't afford to the buy the only existing copy. So you have two choices in your budget: - Buy a good hand-painted copy. - Find an original but not-famous painting which you also like. Both are valid in my book. Similar for cover bands.... they have their place alongside originals.
  11. I'll probably never be able to do this myself, so I'll be following this with vacarious interest. Look forward to seeing it with all the gear, and also hearing the first track produced!
  12. Yes, you’re right there was. I seem to think of them as part of the Medway scene?
  13. I guess McCartney maybe sometimes just doesn't get recognised as a bass player, never mind a good one. He is most recognised as a songwriter, and can play most pop/rock instruments very well. He's not a good enough singer to be known as a singer. He's not (well wasn't) a bad enough singer to be known as a bass player!
  14. Germ Free Adolecents by X-Ray Spex. the song has a tooth brushing element and singer Poly Styrene was known for wearing a set of dental braces.
  15. Whoops, forget to include lyrics. Added to original post.
  16. Yes but it was Stu Sutcliffe. Pete was better known as the Yorkshire Ripper🙁
  17. Slightly off topic, but I understand that Paul (rather than John or George) inherited the bass role because a) they needed to retain George's guitar skills and b) Lennon was to arrogant to go to bass c) McCartney thought of it as a challenge.
  18. From the Little Shop of Horrors
  19. A committed Precision guy would need something which will support their P-ness.
  20. Sometimes you don't need to play the vid at all.... it's all there in the still picture (my circles):
