  1. A comment on the "if you read music then you not using emotions or expression" etc. BTW I can't read music, so I've no vested interest. I read an article in a musician magazine (may have been One-Two-Testing or something) and there was a comment: "Classical musicians use their emotions to express the music, and rock musicians use music to express their emotions". Or something like that!
  2. I guess the poster who put Killing Joke, Mastodon and Voivoid as their top picks just forgot that they actually prefer Donald Fagen ?
  3. So if JC’s voice was dropping, why did he want to *raise* the key?
  4. Brilliant song, I was fortunate enough to see Robyn perform it recently.
  5. From The Doors, it would have to be the debut album for me... that really is a stone-cold classic.
  6. Heard this on 6music the others day.... Adam and the Ants - Animals and Men (Peel session version)
  7. Same here.... take the album as a whole. It has to be far worse than filler to get skipped.
  8. Seems like a few BCers there then! I was there courtesy of @upside downer …. Thanks again for the spare ticket! It was a fantastic gig…. Very good trip down JW’s musical and verbal flights of fancy👍. And a great (and loud) bass sound to boot!
  9. True, he was a conscript not volunteer on bass.
  10. Audio clip or it didn't happen 😀
  11. IMO Beefheart had a resurgence in his last couple of years. I think a lot of fans agree.
  12. That's cheating ! And while we're here... why are you dissing the bass player? 😉
  13. If I have to commit to one perfect album, then no problem it's this one - The Fall, "Grotesque - After The Gramme"
  14. I can't be the only one who feels like this, but there are some bands who, during a certain period, I was so totally 'bought into' I loved every track on those albums... even if there was the odd track that may not stand up alone. For example first 4 Stranglers albums, first 3 Ramones albums, first 3 Velvet Underground albums, first 10-odd years of Fall albums.
  15. An album which springs to mind as an archetypal "All Killer" as generally considered (personally I love the album buts it's never going to make my top ten): Parallel Lines by Blondie Yielded a lot of singles for sure.
  16. That's the best way to have a flawless career. Erm, ignoring The Great Rock and Roll Swindle of course...
  17. Absolutely... no filler, sounds like a greatest hits.
  18. Yes, I do hate it when I see an acoustic ensemble and the bassist is using an unamplified acoustic bass or bass Ukulele. Double bass sometimes ok Unamplified . Wish they would use a battery amp wether it’s an electric or acoustic bass instrument.
  19. Great stuff once again and a worthy winner!
  20. Remember, if you ever say that out loud it will be hilariously funny to emphasise the wrong syllables in the words "emphasis" and "syllables"
  21. I can't be the only one who's first thought was 'not even toilet break'? 😀
  22. I felt the same way when I heard that Beefheart drummer Drumbo was going to ressurect the Magic Band without the Captain. But the Magic Band gig I went to was one of my best ever gigs.
  23. I’m by no means a Rory Gallagher fan, but it’s great that Gerry can keep his work alive and bring such joy to the crowd.
  24. Deadletter at Bedford in a couple of weeks
