2.
I'd be interested to know what possibilities open up by not having the G? Do you mean by sacrificing the G for the B you can play low stuff without having a 5-string? It does all depend upon the music and the player. I for one would not want to play the 12 fret G on the G string at the 17th fret on the D-string, but then I'm greedy and have all the strings (plus another one on top)!
5 strings don't suit me well at all. I never got really comfortable with them, certainly no where as near as a 4 string. It does depend on the music and the player which is why I said "Suits my playing well but i know it doesn't work for all..." I am enjoying it alot at the moment. G
3. B-E-A-D is how i play my 4 string bass as standard too. Its very cool and opens lots of interesting possibilities that the G doesn't. Suits my playing well but i know it doesn't work for all... The relearning the neck was also not so hard.. G
4. Some pictures: G
5. Anyone notice the mic he is singing into at the end is not plugged in?!
6. In excellent condition. Lived happily in a rack for the two years I had it. Brilliant sounding reverbs and delays. Ideal for studio or live applications. Comes boxed with instructions and power cables. Can be seen in the attached picture. G
7. In excellent condition. Comes boxed with instructions (although, oddly, no USB cable) and unregistered copies of Ableton Live Lite 5. £35 plus shipping.
8. In really good functional and cosmetic condition. Carpet cover a little road worn but not trashed or ripped. £185 collection from Edinburgh or Negotiable delivery. G
9. I am a location recording engineer as well as a studio engineer and routinely record gigs, shows, jazz sets, classical stuff and simple location stuff so I bounce between a couple rigs ranging from 16 channels to 48. I use a 003 16 channel pro tools rig for small gigs and jobs. I use a Pro Tools HD2 with 24 channels (upgradeable to 48 if i need) for bigger jobs. Generally I also have an Alesis HD24 as backup to the HD2 rig as these jobs are more important and absolutely cannot fail. Infact, I usually always have some sort of redundant backup somewhere, even if it is a simple stereo Zoom H2 or Laptop. G
10.
Recorderman method uses only 2 mikes, I think.
The recorder man method is an overhead method that captures the kit in the space. It removes the need for additional mics but there is no reason why you cannot use more. When I use it I tend to Mic the kick as well as the pair. Clip on mics will handle quite loud sources as they are used to being 1" away from the drum that is being hit. As a bear minimum I would consider picking up one of these (or similar): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AKG-PERCEPTION-150-L...%3A1|240%3A1318 Its not great but when combined with a kick directly above the snare drum (about 2-3ft depending on the room) and you will be on your way.Only thing to watch out for is where the cymbals are. If the crash is closer to the mic than the snare then it will sound a little brutal so play about with the position. Good luck. G
11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiFOD1EeKhQ Works a bloody charm for a nice lofi representation of what the KIT sounds like in the space and its stereo. G
12. Yup If the valves drive the power section of the amp its bad news. The valve is for tone and is not driving the cab. G
13. You can use the amp without a cab. Valve heads fry themselves if not connected to a cab. G
14. 2.02 is a perfect example of a fill that just drags. Ugly. G
15. It sounds to me like you have a Cracked copy. When you drop a few hundred on a plug in you generally have a host for it or, at the very least know what it is. Infact, with legit copies you even get instructions.
16. Ged Lynch f***ing sucks. Some of that drumming is so below average. G
17. Phenominal PG and T Lev still got it! G
