1. At the end. I would go with it and say at the very end 'guys, I have decided that the next gig is gonna be my last'
2. its a double edged battle sword As soon as you move one thing (a kick for example) you may need to shift the snare to compensate. Then, if you 'fixed' that, why not 'fix' that. The balance is knowing when to stop. G

5. get the most important thing in the mix up first - the vocals. Then add the next most important thing (careful here, don't be egotistical, if its a rock thing guitars and drums usually lead, pop its vocals and drums, funk its bass and melody etc..... this is also not set in stone) and the next and so on. This will mean you don't have to force the vocals through a mix but you will build the mix around them. G
6. Dude, I simply fancy being on the other side of the glass and getting a closer look at the Neve SAE have and helping someone out. Please drop me an email or whatever and we will sort something out. [email protected] G
7. Hey Dude, How about: www.myspace.com/kjkband Regards Garry
8.
You need one of these. Anything less and you'll be selling yourself short.
RIP Townhouse. That studio closed up earlier this year
9. I know the 58 will be fine. What i meant was the 150
10. The 58 along side the perception could work well. Never used it on electric though so i am simple speculating but I doubt you would go that far wrong. Garry
11. I am not sure how good for electrics they will be. I would grab an SM57 for your collection just in case. Cheers Garry
12. Jeez, thats a steal. Do it. Hell, I would even buy one off you if you don't need all 6. Garry
13. Jup, I have a pair. They have a pad so in theory can handle anything up to 130db ish. I have used them on Hi Hats and as a stereo pair with great success. They also do very well on acoustic guitar. Sound wise they are pretty clear although don't handle bottom end too well (kick...) but a pencil mic like this is never intended too. My only gripe is the noise floor of them is not amazing. Its acceptable but not what you would expect from something more expensive which is why I also use a pair of AKG c414's or Rode NT5's on quieter stuff. Incidentally, the 150's handle a louder source than the NT5's so all three pairs complement each other in their own way. Now, for the nitty gritty. Are they worth £60? Without a shadow of a doubt. Buy a pair, keep them 'just in case' you need them or whatever. Mine find their way onto all sorts of applications and are generally a brilliant wild card mic for all purposes. Garry
14. Pretty well made and pretty reliable. I have had one for a few years for my recording gear and it gets chucked about cars and vans regularly. Only now am I slightly worried about the condition of a few zips. On another note, i used to keep a HOT amp in it and it somewhat warped the wood by the looks of things from heat. Maybe an extreme case but a consideration for what you use it for. Other thing is mine is shallow. which means i get some studio 19" gear in it but nothing bass ish. G
15. Awesome, what a small world. No ring modulator as far as i can remember but, given he has a small suitcase of effects it could well be. I will be down in a few weeks actually for a little shopping and a catch up with some dudes. Cheers for grabbing the album man, Stitch are a very small label and every little does go a long way for them and their artists. Garry
16. Hey Johnny, I am good mates with Ant. I did an album with his band Sub-Opt (soon to called Kobaya) which is due out later this month. I also recently worked with Kev G and Ant on Rodrigo Braga's solo album which is currently still in the recording stages. Do you know him? Ant has graced the MOJO album with his usual mental guitar playing. It is true, as of last week Kev is in London. Ant is moving back too in a week or two so it all gonna be happening your neck of the woods. Peace. G
17. Hehe, Thing about Kevin is he one of the nicest and most un-assuming musicians I have ever met. But, yeah, at no point did I ask for a shot of his bass.... Actually, I have worked on 4 projects this year with him and still not got the guts to ask.... G
18. Try adding a touch of distortion (i do mean a touch). This will bring out some additional harmonic detail in the signal and will help it to sit in the mix. The biggest bass sounds don't always sound good in a mix, and a great bass sound in a mix may sound rubbish solo'd up. G
19. Scales are like roadmaps. Its fun blasting about aimlessly for a while but eventually you will want to get where you need to go quickly and by the best route. Get them learned. Start Maj and Minor plus a Dom 7. It will open your eyes. G
20. Cheers Guys, It was really something hearing the track being played on the Radio. I am grinning like an idiot Only out a week and its on the BBC Scotland Jazz show! Garry
