Marinus bought my Fender Jazz Bass Special in a totally smooth and easy transaction. Great comms, instant payment, nice friendly guy to deal with. I wouldn't hesitate dealing with him again.

I have a Fender Precision Lyte, which is a P/J. The P isn't quite a vintage P tone, nor the J a vintage J tone - the blend is a bit burpy but not classic J blend. So a bit of everything but mainly its own self. Which is actually very nice. I particularly like the blended tone, has some definite character.

I had a MM Jazz neck on a Fender P bitsa and it was lovely. I think they are excellent value.

An oblique thought - I had a Squier Silver Series Jazz and the neck on that was 40mm at the nut. Felt exactly the same as the Silver Series Precision I had.

Fearing that you need to stop acquiring them. I embrace my GAS wholeheartedly. I usually reach a point where I feel a need to sell a few - in fact I am doing this at the moment. I regard it as something like a lizard/snake/tarantula shedding its skin. But I never feel I should stop acquiring them. Where's the fun in that?

For some while my main gigging bass was a 90s MIJ Fender Precision with a Mighty Mite Jazz neck on it. Most lovely and, for me, the best combination. If your Precision neck donor bass happened to be a Matt Freeman in black and the Jazz neck so happened to be maple (and the whole thing came in under 9lbs...) I know someone who might be interested...

Depends where in Essex you are - I know a good man in Thundersley who collects from your home within a reasonable distance. But if you are in, say, Harwich, it is unlikely

£205 is very high. I got one recently for under £100 and am actually amazed at how good they are. The pickups are really nice - strong output and a decent tone. I'd kind of assumed they were a cheap cousin of the Thunders but they are their own thing and very nice too.

I have the absolute bottom end of the range Thomann T Bone model, coupled with Shure SM215 earphones, and although not exactly hi-fi it is plenty good enough for my needs. Then again my ears are knackered... I usually wear molded earplugs which protect my ears but make everything sound a bit woolly, so to actually hear a relatively clear sound and at decent level has been something of a revelation.

I have a Longhorn and DC bass - wouldn't trust either of those with just a gig bag without some extra serious packaging. The Wild Thing has even more twiddly bits, so just ripe for damaging I would have thought.
