Another one I may regret selling...

Shergold Marathon 1976. An almost unbelievable 7.5lbs of vintage bass goodness. I bought it a few years ago from the second owner who, at some point in the dim and distant past, had the original pickup replaced by two hand-wired pickups made by a luthier of some renown, Jim Cairns. Now has vol, tone and two on/off switches for the pups and a fairly scruffy arrangement with the scratchplate to allow for all these changes/routing etc. It is in really scruffy condition. Or it has lots of mojo, depending upon your view. The signature Shergold lacquer cracks are there in abundance and the finish on the back has been a martyr to buckle rash. It has scratches, dings, lumps missing - full of character. It also sounds unique - a bit Jazz bass-y but mainly its own thing.

With the stock neck I didn't play it as I found it too wide so I managed to find a NOS neck and, once again, Andyjr1515 came to my rescue. he reshaped the neck to a 38mm at the nut profile and, as usual, make a cracking job of it - customary blog here http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2784314

Ungrateful fool that I am, I still don't use it, favouring my medium scale basses above all others these days.

I bought it cheap and am selling it cheap - £300 including the original neck, all in an equally scruffy hard case that is of similar vintage but works just fine. Cash on collection from SS7, could deliver within a reasonable distance for fuel or meet half-way. Overnight courier to mainland UK would be £25. PayPal no fee or bank transfer also fine.

Such a shame I missed this. I could have killed 2 birds with 1 stone, buy a great bass at very reasonable price and get a free neck for my heavily modified Shergold Marathon with short scale non original neck. ( which is fantastic anyway )

I'd be interested to buy the neck alone if new owner doesn't need it

Cheers
