Thanks for your input, chaps. Maybe if one comes along for next to nothing I'll take a punt. If only to use as a template for having a lightweight body built for the neck, perhaps - an idea to file alongside all the other mad mod ideas I get from time to time .

Bought a Tecamp Puma 300 from Paul in the most straightfroward of transactions. Good comms, promptly dispatched, arrived well packaged and exactly as described. Perfect!

Something to do with GAS maybe?

That's the great thing about bass shapes - it is all so very subjective. One man's icon is another man's eyesore. Me, I like Precision bass shaped basses. Or a nice double cutaway like a Washburn Scavenger or Hondo 1015. Can't abide those single cut jobs that look like a cartoon whale with an overbite.

Another Quilter fan here. I bought it primarily as a back up to my Trace Elliot amp (and previously my Mesa Boogie) as it is so small and light but often find myself choosing it. It is very simple to use, sounds fab and ridiculously loud.

Every time I see one of these fellas on the internet: I go kind of gooey. I believe they are quite nice quality (Matsumoku then Samick?), medium scale, often with issues around the 3 point bridge. But does the weight vary? I've seen people say they weigh 10lbs and I've seen one ad saying under 8lbs? There was one on eBay recently but the guy reckoned it was 10lbs ish. If anyone has one could they please weigh it? Or if you had one and noted the weight? Gracias!

I recently re-acquired an acoustic bass and have just fitted it with La Bella white nylons to see what the fuss was about. Previously I had used black nylons for their general 'double-bass-esque thuddiness' but these whites, whilst still doing this, also retain a brightness that the black ones seem to lack. I am converted!

Couple of times at gigs, few times at rehearsals. The worst time was forgetting how the start of 'I Fought The Law' went, which at that point I had been gigging for around 5 years. Complete blank until the first verse.

It is mainly for home practice and, er, small coffee shop-type acoustic gigs - teamed with a Barefaced One10 - so I reckon I'd be safe Thanks - I'd never considered GK before - never used them - but it looks like a contender. Damn, things get complicated, don't they!

Perhaps you could throw us a few crumbs from the rarified Nirvana you inhabit, just so us mortals know what to do and how to do it in future?

Thank you for your thoughts. @BassBunny - I think the BQ500 is approaching too big and too powerful. @Hellzero - I have a Quilter and like it a lot, but too big and powerful for what I have in mind. yes, I know, it has a volume control GRBass mini-one looks nice but a bit dear. @lownote12 - It did occur to me that I would be paying for the Toneprint etc which I might not actually use. Given that it is cheap in the first place the implication is that the money isn't spent on the bits I would use. Looks like the Elf might be ahead at this point. After all, it is green.

Having failed the 2019 Gear Abstinence Challenge in the first couple of weeks I now feel able to indulge minor GAS attacks totally guilt and inhibition free Especially as I have shifted some of my more expensive kit in the past couple of weeks. I seem to have convinced myself there is room in my life for one of those tiny little amp heads that seem to be popping up now. But which one? These caught my eye: Trace Elliot Elf. Because it is the smallest. And it is green - I like green. And I like the brand. TC BH250 - It is red, has an inbuilt tuner plus Toneprints. Not sure I'll use them but they are available. Mark Bass Nanomark 300. Seems the most expensive, also red. A few tantalising glimpses of something TC are calling the BAM200, which looks like it might be around the same size as the ELF but no-one is giving anything much away. Does anyone have any kind of A/B experience or just experiences? What would be the pros/cons of each? Any insider gen on the BAM200? Ta.

In this particular case that wasn't the case. It was the Join My Band website messaging system. You can see when a message has been read, it stays on the message system as well.
