How do

    Hiya! Welcome to the forum.
  4.
As mentioned in another thread, Violent & Funky is my nemesis!
Why's that? Are you learning to play it? That bass sounds ridiculously difficult to me. Edit for stupidity. Further edit - What about M.I.R.V. and Primus? Not very similar to RHCP but could just about be described as funk rock and both are wicked
  5. As has been said already, Rage, Incubus and Infectious Grooves. The first and last are definitely heavier than RHCP. Try Robert Randolph & the Family Band. Funk/gospel with touches of rock.
  6.
Hey Guys/Mr Anthony yep - problem solved - combination of gain/volume/sansamp settings/new strings and darren from Bassmerchant. JB
Excellent, glad you got sorted.
  7. All good suggestions above. When you say about you not knowing what half the details means, just ask here or search on the forums. Plenty of very clever folk around who will be able to explain.
  8. Hiya
  9.
Nothing to really worry about. All that's happened is that you have out-grown the rather limited choice most musical instrument shops have.
Hear Hear! If you're near a good shop with a wide selection of basses and gear you are lucky.
  10. voted to keep likes. saves +1/hear hear. If you disagree you can debate it below the line.
  11. Hi Paddy, I believe that forum rules state you need to give a price on items for sale. Good luck with the sale. Edit: just realised that you say you're ideally looking for trade. Not sure if you'd still need a price. I'm sure some clever bod will be shortly.
  12.
On a particularly small stage I turned my head round to look at him and was promptly smacked the mouth by his crash cymbal which meant I had to do the last song sucking my bottom lip with blood pouring down my jaw.
Ouch.

    Tread Carefully
Thanks for listening - it's the first thing I've done which has been totally electronic, I'm finding it really refreshing to make music without guitars for a change.
Absolutely! Keep it fresh.

    Tread Carefully

    I like it.
  15.
I've also noticed I stand on one leg a lot.
Yep, me too. Also twist my other leg round the back of my standing leg. Not my bass playing but when I get excited at a gig my backing/duet vocals get very shouty. Need to get a handle on that.
  16. Would love to say that I'm 50/50 but the originals band mostly requires the sound of a pick whilst the covers band is playing less and less which needed more finger style. I also use 3mm big stubbies but quite like sound of those Ibanez Sand Grip ones.
  17. Good gig at Soundhouse in Leicester tonight. with Never Means Maybe, Replicant and 4 Point Oh. A smallish but appreciative crowd. Great energy on stage, I got a bit excited and my vocals went a bit shouty which was appropriate for the night. Adrenaline is better than any drug I've ever tried.

    Christmas Combo!
The Marshall MB4210 is a good amp, and very versatile, due to its 2 channels. I used one in a heavy rock band with a VERY LOUD drummer, and had no problems with the volume. I used it on it`s own for practices. For gigs I added in the matching 115 for a bit of depth to the sound (plus I wanted a Marshall stack) but the combo could have coped fine in regular pub type venues.
I stand corrected. Apologies

    Christmas Combo!

What a generous wife! I think I've heard (based on rumour and hearsay without any evidence) that the Marshall MB combos have problems with volume. Not sure if its true or not but see if you can try before you buy? I've had good experiences with Ashdown combos (Mag 2x10 or 1x15). Although they get some stick on here for wooly sound, so again, try one out. Edit for spelling
  20. About how heavy are we talking? Edit. Just realised its in the original post sorry! Also a potentially stupid question but what's the function of the angled speaker? Is it the widened distribution? Could you turn the cab on its side and have the angled speaker as a monitor?
  21. Glad it went mostly well. First one down, here's to the next
right took my ashdown eb 180 and 110 deep cab as monitors and main sound through the desk, the guitarist had a marshall stack next to me on the left and drummer on the right and i just couldnt hear myself at all
Mm, a full guitar stack next to you? no wonder you struggled with volume! I gigged for maybe a year or so with an Ashdown EB12-180, worked alright for me but my guitarists at the time were happy with 1x12 combos. Maybe have a chat with your guitarist about on stage volume before you shell out for new gear? Edit for spelling
  22.
Its getting hot in here!
So take off all your clothes! edit: I'll get my coat.
  23.
the energy, passion, expression, funk and attitude is supreme!
To me, this is what matters in a performer.
  24.
Good luck - I guess it's tonight! I'm in south wales and would like to come along to your next gig if I can. Where is your local? And has it got Brains?
+1 Good luck
  25.
Sounds good lovely tone on the bass on there
+1 great, lovely playing too. Perfect for the job.
