2.
I don't hate Fenders, I'm just not too keen on the body design. Same with Ford Escorts, good value cars, but they're not aesthetically pleasing to me.
same here thet shape dont appeal to me,i like odd shape guitars or rics....fenders are to generic!!
3.
Threads like this always make me think of the TV advert where one little girl asks her sister "What do you love more, Daddy or chips?"
chips...always...
4. looks like transformers to put to bass are a couple of hundred squid!!...looks like ill never get a valve bass head then!! marshall superbass are too expensive!
5. the jcm is good for funk or thrash were no bottom end is required, but i like subsonic boom bass!
6. my mrs was saying in her youth everyone used to chuck beer on dd as they ponced around babarellas in brum......we used to do wolf...but we felt uncomfetable doing it so we dropped it...but talking with a punk band we played with the bassist mentioned it and they all went mad saying we should still do it!!!
7.
Well, if you believe everything you read then I'm a profligate, capitalist pigdog for having the audacity to own more than one bass, and an irresponsible, un professional idiot for not taking a backup bass to the gig.
Dude! do u have a red fender p bass......p standing for peoples bass!! anyway i have plenty of others i want...ric cheyanne/ladaro....ovation magnum....as for vintage bass my facker has many a yoof admiring it it hues a glow as it sits ant they keep a safe distance oooing and ahhhhhring!!!
8. ihear what ur saying oliver, thats why i gone through amps...and i always end up back at my battered old laney 150w as its the only thing that goes quiet enough cleanly ...but would it look good on totps.....lol!!
9. i found the fender sound to thin i tried a couple out just to see what all the fuss is about,as i was thinking about getting a jaguar...then i tried a squire jag and that was even worse!!
10. wipe on...wipe off...paint up ...paint down danielson.......isnt everyday a schoolday...as per dr dave there could be a player who is percived as crap...but oneday he could show u a little techneque that u never knew...or a run...riff ect...uv the learned some thing off him...same as some percived as brilliant....
11. agreed bland fender....lakland.....satalite...kay....
12. the bassest with ashdown may have been blobbie williams chap,i did try a mag 300 combo once and didnt seem that loud!!,then again nothing seems that loud to me!!,but i was trying an epi SG through it so may have been the bass
13. yea i did clock the chick on bass and was quite impressed with her orange choice, then there was a a black dude with dreads i couldnt see waht his head was but looked like he got a 410,might been a hartke in a flight case, then there was another with an ashdown mag 300?....are ashdowns really anygood...as they well cheap secondhand??
14. i got 4,tbird wich is my main,i have a mid 70s lawsuit rickenfacker wich is my baby but might become main for this year, these usualy live at our rehersal space, ric lives in its case.i have a cheap ibanez gsr 200 wich i play at home, and have a project westone thunder i,wich needs a nut and wiring,im becoming bit of a john entwistle, wont ever sell a bass!,i kinda regret selling a pbass years ago,im thinking of buying a 4001/3 i have the money but cant part with a grand!!, i did take the ric to a few gigs as bup as the tbird was snapping A strings, but changed the sadle and since been ok,so stopped taking it,leaving a vintage bass in the back room of a toilet gig dont buzz me!! so back to taking one now!!
15. i was trying to checkout adam ants bassests gear...thro blurred eyes!!! but kevin roland gift....2 of brums has beens!!! think pet clarke was a bit week too!
16. spacechick...if ur playing spacebass/space rock hope ur using a rickenbacker....or a thunderbird......apart from an sg these are the only basses u can use!!! im looking for a free download to mess around with to record my band,we easy as we uses electribe and midi triggers,we did an album recorded and mixed in 3/4 days!
17. check out heavy finger players like geezer and geddy lee they play at the neck, think geddy uses 1 finger in what he calls the hook style, but know a couple of players that use forefinger gripped between thumb and index, but u wont get a clean attack,im not a proficient finger player,i do at home practice, but i use big triangle .77 picks...yellow ones,i tried 1s n 88s but prefere these i really attack the strings!!
18. id love to be able to sing and play at the same time,as then i could start my own motorhead alike band!!! singing and playing would give me more musical freedom to do what i want
19. i know this is late!!! i bought one of these heads its the worst head ever!! it farts out,if u leave modern chanel on 10 then change over to classic, the classic goes farty fuzzy reduced in vol till u turn the modern master down,iv had it at 2ohm but still sounds crap,if u let a string ring it fizzles out to a farty fuzz,it sounds bright and aggressive, ive had it full bore,if its not very impressive, the hartke 350 i had for short time was way better, the only thing is i cant find another in shops to compair if i have a bad one,the same old problem as i reported, turn master to half is fuzzy n farty,i had some one look at it he recond it was ok but it was putting out 170w@4ohm and bout 420w @ 2 ohm...every ones describing a different amp.....or should these be running better through cabs like 410/810s?
20. i gassed for a valve amp,i had a park head years a go think i blew the op i think it was a lead head but was warm deep with a lovely growl...perfect...after leaving it with a mate of a work mate loosing contact i lost the head....doh!!.....my dream heads are fender bassman 135 and a vba400,but as happens some one owed me wedge and offered me a jcm 900 instead heart over head, and advice of people on marshall site saying it would make a decent bass amp,or i could change caps ect to drop the bottom end ect,the being told i cant!! i was prepered to mod the hell out of this, jst to have a bigbox bass amp,atm i got a EQ pedal in the fx loop,at bedroom levels it duz sound luverly but take it put it thro my 15s and turn it up it looses the bottom end from the eq and start distorting, presume its cuz its a higain model!! maybe a standard guitar amp would have been better, but great if u want to sound like lemmy!! i like a growl but not full out like this, well not in the band im in now...annoying thing 2 fender bassmen went for 350£ not long after i got this...doh!! also for 11£ i missed a simms-watt head...gutted!! as seems guitar heads seem to be a lot less than bass.....superbass being 1000£.......i would love a proper bass valve head or even a better cheaper less gain guitar head!!im yet to find a decent amp tech im brum who wont ridicule me about the conversion of this if it were possible...it has 5881 tubes in it....
21. ive just lowered the bridge on my tbird, and was wondering the easiest/quickest way of checking this?or just doing that wont affect it?
22. ah the 80s were everything cost nothing!!...everything seemed to cost 80£,a mate bought bc rich sharkfin for 80@,then he bought a jcm 800 and 412 for 100£,another bought a mini moog for 80£,another bought john taylors arai pro2 for £110 i got a westone thunder project from about then
