  1. What if the Pastor says, "You're not getting them on their FEET! They're not putting enough in the TILL!"
  2. I used to play at CBGB's. Haha. No.
  3. Considering our guitarist would announce "Make our ears bleed, Marty!" I was forced to oblige. I have a recording where I swear it sounds like I'm skinning a live cat. Now that's rocknroll.
  4. I showed up for an audition w/ a fretless P bass that had the epoxy removed from the maple neck and roundwound strings. Afterwards, they said, "You'll do." I think we were making up our own genre, at the time.
  5. I had that neck on my Jazz, you'll appreciate it on a dark stage.
  6. Roland SIP-301 Bass Preamp had the best built-in compressor. A great working pre-amp had Becks spilled init and didn't even flintch. I miss that sucker, I might hafta find an Orange Squeezer build to get that Tony Levin Stick sound again. Oh, and they are expensive on Reverb/Ebay. (as is everything "vintage") $549 US. And that's no amp. No speakers. Pretty tight for a compressor. Never mind.
  7. You want a quick, although MINDBOGGLING education? I just read Barefaced website about speaker size and etc. I've also read Phil Jones amps discussions on small speakers and am thoroughly confused.
  8. So I just read Barefaced website and it seems the speakers they produce would eliminate the need for mids and tweeters. Now I know more than I need and still don't know what a decent amp/speaker set-up would be for a Chapman Stick, that happens to play a lot of bass notes consecutively, unless I'm playing in the higher range, with or without distortion. (Have any of you read the Barefaced website?)
  9. 4 fans? It looks like an airplane! I read this thread out of curiosity and then got to THAT picture. Their website almost sounds like a Benny Hill short.
  10. I like The Rewind I immediately think of a cassette!
  11. Best bet is record your bass on something, go to a shop where you can "A,B,C,D'em" and make your choice. I wound up w/ Sony MDR 7506's ($99US).
  12. I learned the trombone in highschool because I read bass clef and the band director needed a 'bone player. Amazing noises you can come up with! And LOUD.
  13. It's all I use on any instrument. When I got my first Stick I found out they are the brand Emmett Chapman settled on. And he is picky.
  14. Not to blow my own horn (metaphorically) but as a bassist who happens to play Stick, I prefer my own approach, as well as other bassists who play Stick, rather than Stickists that have come from the guitar. Stickists that have come from other instruments are ok. Drummers tend to be Monsters...
  15. I love it, but, learn the neck, proper lessons, no stickers. Jeezuz Weezuz. 13 yrs. old they can count can't they...
  16. Ah, yes. I haven't heard THIS in a long time.
  17. Bamboozled By Love - F.Z.
  18. Um. Reworked Fender fretless. Like, the body was original. Mighty Mite Ebony fretless fingerboard, DiMarzio pu's, brass bridge, nut, pickgaurd, D'Addario roundwounds nickle 100-45, Roland pre-amp into Peavey 400 Poweramp into 2 Cerwin Vega 2-12's. beach rig did everything from PiL to Human Sexual Response to Brand X to Material. Also a Ibanez 8-string (made fretless w/ a claw hammer). Original music, the Sound of the World Ending. Punk?
  19. Deep Tan. Great note choices. Is it time? Is it not time for music to rebel? The Pop Tunes (?) Auto - Toons Times Is Over? Is it not time for The PUNKS to take over/ Take Back the Music? IS IT NOT TIME FOR THE OLD GEEZERS TO STRAP ON THEIR OLD STRING INSTRUMENNTS? (and have the greatful children roadie?)
  20. Try it. You gotta work the faders....
  21. ///We are into The Jokes./// I'm happy some of you Blokes found Finger-Ease. My gf makes sure I have a supply from Amazon. I can get it @ my local M&P Shop but believe it, Guitar Center tries (tries) to charge me 2$ more than my M&P. $5 vs. $7 US. SERIOUS? I mean, it's WD40, right?
  22. (Scofield is a monster) My personal preferences are (is) fusion before fusion was called fusion... And the The Canterbury Scene (British). Examples: Gong, National Health, Hatfield & The North,... The quirkier stuff, but with great playing. And for me, again, it was guys that were recording that my band-mates would say, "Hey, this sounds like you."... ...Percy Jones & Jah Wobble.
  23. I learned this in a rehab where there were 32 people listening to 32 things at 32 different times.
