1.
Always nice to hear a slightly different treatment of a familiar song, and this is good! Thanks Keith. I can just hear Steve H doing this - can you?
Ohhhhhh yes, I can. He'll probably rush out and buy a 7 string something though
2. I'd buy the same thing again. (Shuttle 6.0 combo and the ext cab)
3. Yes I probably am, but at least I draw the line at referring to Miles Davis as "Miles"
4. ....in about every band I've ever been in (we thought we were so "ROCK" with the Frijid Pink version) Just came across this little gem by Five Finger Death Punch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7siqTsfoqA Despite my advancing years, I quite fancy having a go for the fun of it. This song is up there with the other unofficial French national anthems as it was covered by Johnny Hallyday and has been requested at about every gig I've ever played since moving here. Not sure about how this will go down with the local farming community but hopefully, the band may be up for it.
5. Not really sure that I understand what the OP is looking for. In any of the bands I've been in or currently play in, we are all band "mates" meaning, we play together. Some are just "mates" and some are also friends but surely this applies to every situation in life be it work, bands, being in a Sunday football team, having neighbours etc. I wouldn't be in a band or spend time with anyone I hated anyway, in any situation, so all people I know are either acquaintances, or friends. At times we fall out, whether they be friends, or "mates" If I find the other members of the band are easy to play with and communicate with, the music works and the band works. Makes no difference whether we only ever meet at gigs and rehearsals or spend a lot of time socializing together.
6.
oh, I know, I can't help hating them bitterly too... In my mind I see the little guy as an embryo, dividing fast... meanwhile, I am playing bass somewhere... then the embryo forms into a foetus, you see the little limbs now, the fingers are clearly seen, tiny little buds... and meanwhile I'm playing about the same thing I did earlier on my bass... then he is born... and he learns to walk, to talk, to pee in the toilet, to use cutlery, to read, while I'm still having difficulty with the same songs I did earlier. Then he gets a bass... I blink, and he's replaced me in my band... Oh, I hate him.

7.
I'm pretty sure it's the kids playing... (just open it on youtube proper, and you'll see other videos. If that doesn't convince you...)
Look, I know it's them, you know it's them, the whole world knows it's them but I'm in denial because they have a collective age that's younger than the cheese in my fridge and I'll never play like that if I make 100
8. A long long time ago we were supporting Black widow at Redbridge college. Our vocalist was so drunk and stoned that our mate who was roadie for the night actually stood behind him with arms around his chest and held him up to the mic. After 4 numbers, the SU organiser stopped our set and we had to do the walk of shame off stage with our gear. It's like a cold sweat Vietnam flash-back when I think about this even after more than 40 years.
9. Worth trying a Roscoe Beck V. Fabulous bass to play and a ton of options tone-wise. Never goes out of tune due to graphite rods in the neck.
10.
Yes...Mo Foster. Well done. Just been reading his credits, he sure did/does get around. http://www.mofoster.com/biog.php
Have you read 17watts? a great and entertaining insight into the birth of rock, and his career.
11. Then the only other I can think of that's certainly played for two of those is Mo Foster. Wrong again?
12. The only one I can think of at present that has been around that long (possibly, as I don't really know how old he is) is Randy Hope Taylor. Any good?
13. I'm pretty sure that grown-ups are playing this out of shot.
14.
Chaka's MD, Melvin Davies.
Give this man a goldfish. Well done.
15. Okay, the clue (7) was related to the number of strings this man usually has on his Smith basses. Any wiser?
16.
I have just made the jump after pickup up a used akg system. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the tone, it has changed slightly, but nothing that a very slight tweak of an eq can't sort out. Mines an Akg wms40, picked it up for £40, so not a big risk but it will be staying now!
Plus 100 for the AKG Wms. I bought two last year for the guitare and myself. £79 each. They do three different frequencies and I have wandered off to 50mtrs with no signal loss. Battery life is seriously good. 30 hours continuous use apparently although Ive not actually tried that.
17. Okay, I'll add Eric Marienthal and the Simon Phillips group to the list, that makes 7 (get it?)
18. You're all not quite there yet, is it clue time?
19. At 62, the tight jeans and skinny T-shirt are out so I thought I'd get into the European "shabby - chic" look. I've had quite a bit of success with the first half of this but my wife says I'm struggling with the last bit
20. Here's an easy one for you all. Steve Lukather David Benoit Lee Ritnour Chaka Khan George Duke
21.
Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is a 34.5 inch scale. Either way free bump for one good looking ( and sounding if the other 20 or so I've played are any indication) bass. Good luck with the sale.
The BN4 does have a 34" scale. The BN5 models are 34.5"
22. A 5 string should cover all bases. I use the low D, B & C quite a lot whether it's in the original version or not to add a bit of floor shake here and there. Also, as already mentioned, it can give me a bit of a break from reaching down the far end at the end of a long set. Quite nice sometimes to play above the 5th fret for a few numbers.
23.
It was one or two specific posts in the thread that pushed it over the edge.
Hopefully not mine but I must admit to being a founder member of the "Easily led club"
24.
Yep, Dancing in the moonlight springs to mind
So true. That's the one and like suggested in another reply, I did actually start to play it in the key our guitarist insisted it was in just to make the point.
25. No kittens or attractive women but this made me smile.
