1. So, looks like I'm the only one who has drum sticks, box of assorted plectrums, a hi-hat top clamp, a Vox Satchurator pedal, a spare SM58 and 9-42 guitar strings in the car, apart from all my bass gear. Every one of these items has been forgotten at some point by the others in the band.
2. So, despite being old and out of touch, can I assume the the shouty out of tune and over enthusiastic pop princess currently making my jaw drop in disbelief, is Florence? Whoever it is, she's sh*t.
3. It's okay as long as you use something acceptable to die-hard jazzers. In my experience, something like this would be fine.
4. The wife is in an Irish folk band (Irish as in the music, not the musicians) and at last night's gig, the main guy in the band changed between 4 string banjo, 5 string banjo and mandolin 11 times. Did my brain in just to watch. I change once in my group (to a fretless) and I insist on it being the last number in the first set so there's no need to change back again immediately.
5.
I have more basses than I've had gigs in the last 2 years. Sometimes I wonder whether I should flog all but the two 'special' ones!
They were all "special" when you bought them, so keep them all. Sorted.
6.
Me neither... I can't hold a pick properly, it keeps slipping round my hand and I end up with the pointy bit facing away from the strings. Also, after this weeks first rehearsal on guitar it turns out I have a lot to learn about controlling feedback.

I too only recently bought a guitar to lay down guide tracks, bit of noodling, etc... then realised I can't play it. Bugger!
You two are going to ruin it for everybody, you're just looking for every little excuse not to buy guitars
7. A mate is on their artiste list of endorsees and demonstrators. Never seems to have any trouble and he would say if he did. It must be you
8. Floyd tribute bands are not really audience magnets are they? None of the ones I've seen were obscured by crowds.
9. Ah, see, it's all different in France. "Jamming" here, means "Hey Joe" Always suggested by a guitarist who thinks he's better than he actually is and always ends up with a 15 minute, not very good guitar solo and me deciding to go home with my head in my hands, mumbling "never again"
10.
I looked at a couple of videos, and each seemed to have a different bass player. I wonder if something is going on with bass players in this band... E.g.:
Like Spinal Tap and drummers?
11. I've just had a look at his "content" 99% in items for sale and in none of the posts, has he actually replied to any questions or comments.
12.
But isn't that simply the clever ploy of a very, very good scammer..? You're all falling for it..! The fellow has spent the last 15 years baiting this elaborate trap, and he's likely to get away with a whole wad of notes (well, maybe £120 or so...); plus a real UK passport number he can launder if he's 'savvy'. A mastermind, I say; teeth like razors and the cunning of a fox. A second Moriarty, and here you all are, falling for it..! Hilarious..!
A second Moriarty? How dare you. There shall be only one. (Although, the second most dangerous man in London was Capt Sebastian Moran I believe)
13.
What does your spiritual advisor say you should do?
"You don't get an audience if you don't have the stars and planets in alignment." Janine, girlfriend of David St Hubbins, 1984
14. The OP's budget will also get him / her a TRB.JP awesome instrument. I guess which version (early or late) will depend on whether the OP wants a 34 or 35 inch scale. Something else worth looking at is the GMR soundboard 6 string. Nice bit of kit that.
15.
Its never for nothing, it just seems that way today. Your better, and have more experience of bands / asshole musicians now. Draw a line under it and start looking for the next one.
The next band? or the next asshole musician?
16. Surprised this is still here. The 5s get rarer and rarer each year as players realise what they've been missing for 1/2 the price of a Stingray. Took me ages to find one at sensible money.
17. Gigs are fun, really nice people and loads of work? Three out of four really isn't bad. Most aren't that lucky but I get your point. It's very frustrating when everyone is not on the same page. Just hope that he realises eventually.
18. New venue last night for us. A 90 min drive each way and the place is known for punk & classic rock. Not what we do so, a little apprehensive. Turned out a great night, kept them all there until 12.45 and I've never seen so many 50 year old punks and rockers dancing away to Never can say goodbye, Hot stuff, Uptown funk and Ladies night. Got an extra 50€ tip and I'm pretty sure, a few more gigs in the future. Only down side was getting in at 2.45 a.m.
19. That won't be here long at that price. Nice one. Great amps these.
20. I love the "plays like an original vintage 1958 Precision" bit How does an original vintage 1958 Precision play then?
21.
Not our drummer, carpet or stage but you get the idea.
No music stand?
22.
No, it's not about me and I shouldn't have used the drunk guy as an example. Maybe I should be more specific. I am not talking about how we will always brush up against drunks, that goes with the territory. I am talking about live rock music as a dying art form and someone specifically getting in your face and not necessarily drunk, telling you that what your doing is history, that what you and your band are doing is no longer relevant. Blue
Well, now that you've explained in detail exactly what your beef is, I must say that I've never actually experienced that at all. Maybe in the odd conversation away from a gig but certainly never at a gig. This is not down to living in France as it also applies to the 35 years prior to moving here. Maybe it's a U.S thing
23. I'm not sure things have ever been any different. There can always be assholes at gigs wherever you play. Not that I've played there but Ronnie Scotts is a prime example. Yes, they will remove an idiot from the audience but there seems to be an ever increasing number of people who don't go for the music, but want to tell their friends that they were there last night. It's nice of course to be appreciated when you go out to play in public, I'm sure we all want that, but to be respected? you may be disappointed mate. In bars and pubs and clubs, no matter how good you are, you will be just an inconvenience to a small number that want to talk to their friends. I think there possibly was a time long ago when musicians were thought of as something special as usually, you had to be dedicated, and good in order to survive. These days, with good instruments available cheaply, a willingness of more parents to indulge their children, lessons on You Tube, the platforms to publicise your music and in some cases, simply having the right image, the musical path is open to all. I gave up the "I'm up here performing for you so you WILL pay attention" outlook long ago. I do it for me these days.
24. Alternatively, you could pick up an old Zoom 50whatever or a B3 for about £25 (takes AA bats) and just plug your lead and phones into that. Silent practice and the benefit of effects.
