1. Is it just me or is this whole idea ridicilous?? The biggest day of your life (and your wifes life) and you're playing in the band?!? Hmmm.... very strange to me. I could see the point of doing perhaps 2 or 3 tunes if you sang or played guitar - just a bit of entertainment for the attendees, but playing anything even close to a full set is so daft! IMO of course!
2. I dont mind people having massive amps, and loads of top end gear. IME though, as long as we get a decent enough clean sound and its dependable enough, that'll do me! I see my amp as an onstage monitor. And to be honest, I'd much rather have gear that I can throw into the back of a car without much thought - The last thing I want to be doing is worrying about gear!
3.
Several are mentioned, maybe in this thread, one of them being: http://www.thomann.d...t_pedal_bag.htm best, bert
I've just purchased one of these... il let you all know how I get on with it.
4.
Cheers Bert, will have a peek. Thanks Skinny, I see what you mean now, I didn't even think of them in that situation, so you call up the patch, switch to 'manual mode' and pick /choose phaser or distortion or whatever as required? Will have another play tonight!
The way I work mine is I have 4 patches set up as basic clean tones. I have the compressor, EQ and noise reduction set the same on each. I then keep it on manual mode, and use it just like 4 seperate pedals. The 4 patches I use have different set ups though, so for example preset 1 is envelope filter > OD > Chorus. preset 2 is tremelo > fuzz > filter (which i cant remember the name of just now). preset 3 is wah > synth > vibe. Preset 4 is octaver > fuzz > pitch bend. This means that whatever tune I'm playing on I can flick between the presets without it changing the standard bass tone, bu I can bring up the majority of effects pretty easily. I do also have two other presets that are used for specific songs which are used for about 20 seconds each.
5. As others have said, they are extremely professional, and a very good tight band. JBJ is excellent at getting the crowd going, and there back catalogue is basically big song after big song. I saw them in 2000 (or around then) at Hampden, and they were incredible! He's not the singer he was I dont think though. They're a touch on the MOR side for my liking these days, but if I got a free ticket I would still go. It wont be like this though unfortunately..... haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68m7K0VDbNE
6. Sorry for the thread resurrection! But just been looking at some reviews for the squier jazz deluxe V, and found this. Not only is his playing extremely OTT, he can also make the instrument sound gash! I've got one of these on the way.... if I watched this video I may have had second thoughts!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reOvF025cVQ
7. this is it here. Theres a few scratches here and there, and the sticker on the top was from a previous owner - but that'll come off easily Im sure.
8. Lovely stuff! I shall be going through the breakdown video at some point and nicking some ideas! Cheers man! Really nicely played too BTW.
9. It was a very ghetto recording..... I used my zoom r16 which is a digital 8 track recorder. I only have a handful of mics and leads so this is how I did it... track 1 : direct output from pa using the 'tape out' phono connector - just one of them. track 2: line out from my zoom b9.1ut - used a freebie cab sim in reaper whilst mixing. track 3 - direct line out from guitarists boss gt-100 - doubled the track and put it through 2 different freebie amp sims at mixing stage. Really thickened the sound out! track 4 : cheapo dynamic mic tossed into the kick drum track 5: randomly placed cheapo large diaphram condenser mic to the right of the drummer. track 6: no-brand sm57-a-like gaffa taped to a table to the left of the drums (about snare height). I then compressed everything like f*** and then stuck loads of reverb on stuff. I really dont know much about recording and mixing so its complete luck that it sounds as good as it does! Especially the drums! No matching mics.... no measuring distances from snares. I'm sure the guys out there that know what there talking about when it comes to recording will be able to hear some real horrors in the mix, but to my ears is good enough.
10. I should also say... that promo thing flattered us a little. The whole gig is recorded (which I can send a link to if anyones interested) but the majority of it is dreadful!
11. We are from the Motherwell area.... but the band is already disbanded! haha. For me, it was all abit of tongue and cheek fun but we were pretty rough last gig (in fact all gigs) and the amount of time it would take to keep it tight and well rehearsed I just couldnt do and neither could the guitarist. It was fun whilst it lasted though! Haha
12. I'l get a photo too shortly. Mine isnt moulded plastic, and its dark brown - but rock solid.
13. I have a 4u case, we would need to post.... but I'm interested in a swap. I'm guessing my P+P will be more, but I'm happy with that..... I'l try find a pic of mine. All 4 clips are 100% solid. I only have a 2u amp and nothing else so mine is a bit overkill.
14. Tremendous band! Seen them a few times. Share a practice unit with the drummer! Excellent bassist! In fact they are all excellent!
15.
I'm wondering if your pre-amp tube is going?
I wouldnt have thought so as the sound once it starts up is as clear as it always has been. Wouldnt a worn preamp valve give loss of signal or some hum perhaps? I suppose it might be worthwhile just picking up a spare anyway and giving it a go.
16. Just an update with this.... its not got any better with everything unplugged whilst starting it up. It seems to be intermittent too, and only seems to be like this when it has been left unused for a few days. The blue limiter LED has failed too now, so I wonder if theres an issue with that. I cant see anywhere else online with other users having the same problem, so I'm guessing taking it in is the next step. Life is difficult for an amp - even if its only for a week or so!
17. I've got one of those, its pretty decent, and its decent volume wise, but it doesnt take effects too well. Fuzz can sounds very fizzy through it. From your post though, thats possibly not something that you'll encounter. Its built like a tank though, and its not overly heavy.
18. I gigged with one for a while. Great sounding pedal, and I loved the grind you get off it. Great for the mid scooped slap bass tone too. the only downside for me was that if you have the gain quite high on it, when you hit either of the pedals on, there is quite a big jump in volume. I ended up using mine constantly on (which was ashame as I really wanted to use it as a dirt pedal). Built like a tank too - which is nice!
19. Unlike other instruments, I think with drums some people can have a natural knack. And this natural feel for the instrument will get you to a certain level quite quickly and easily. Going from there onwards though is much more difficult, and needs as much practice and tuition as any other instrument.
20. Do you mean your power supply has one cable coming out that fits each pedal? Like a dasiy chain? If thats the case, I'd just gaffa tape the spare ends up and tidy it up. Dont think they need to go anywhere really. Just gaffa them up and they'll be fine. Make sure they dont touch other metal things whilst there out like that!
21. Heres a wee 2 minute clip of my newly formed rock band. We got a handful of practice to get a 2 hour set together full of Mr Big, Deep purple, Ozzy, Queen tunes, Its a bit of a piss take as we're only planning to play once in a blue moon, mainly for our own enjoyment (and possibly a bunch of our own friends). Not many bands in our area doing this kind of shreddy kind of stuff, so we might get a few gigs out of it! I recorded the full 2 hour gig and this 2 minutes worth is the best of it, and theres still wrong notes a plenty! haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldc7LydWlrk
22. As others have said, it will be more down to the seller's ignorance rather than him trying to deceive. If they are nice photos and they portray the guitar's condition then I would probably have been guilty of it myself!
23. I had the behringer head for about a year. My previous amp broke, and whilst it was in getting fixed a had a load of gigs. I decided just to buy the behringer as a stop gap, then sell it on once I got my proper amp back. It sounded perfectly good, so I ended up using it in our practice unit. It then died on me - the power section had failed. When I took it in to fix the guy said it was not worth fixing, as the way its built meant that a massive section of the amp just had to be replaced, not just the bit that broke. I dont know how true this is, but it would really put me off buying another behringer head. I would say though that when it worked it was perfectly good so if you can get one super cheap then it might be ok as a back up.... saying that, there is so much choice out there for amps that I would still probably look elsewhere.

Zoom b9.1ut

I've had this for a couple of months now, played loads of gigs with it, and practiced loads with it too so I now feel I can give a good overall review of the unit. Build quality: I would say this is not a small and light unit. Seems to be built like a tank, and the switches etc feel robust. the expression pedal feels pretty good too. It only has a basic digital read out, so I guess thats one less thing to go wrong. I Ease of use: The buttons are laid out well and after a few hours of fiddling, I became an expert in it! haha. As it is just now, If I need to make an alteration to any of my sounds, I can make the change within seconds. 3-4 button pushes and the changes will be done and saved. Ideal for gigging situations. I know that it seems to be a big -ve for some folk, but I've not found it diffictult to navigate the system. One issue I have (which possibly is not unique to this multiFX) is that when I set a volume level for a patch, but I then have the expression pedal as a volume boost ie fully down is normal, but fully up is an extra 20% volume, I will have to make sure that when I set it up, that the expression pedal volume is the same as the standard patch volume, or else I will get varying levels. I also wish it didnt have a volume knob on the back which changes the level of the output. I'd rather just have a standard line level output, as for me there is too many 'volumes'. ie each part of the chain has its own volume, and so does the patch, and also the whole unit. Sounds: the compressors are great. The noise reduction is great. The filters and autowahs are pretty good. They synths are a bit hit and miss -I only use one and its for long held out notes, so works well for that. Fast stuff not so much. I cant seem to get the octaver to track well for some reason which is ashame as thats an effect I'd quite like to use. The amp sims are pretty cool. Some are more useful than others. One massive draw back for me though is that you cant set up an amp model then run another distortion through it. For me, that would have opened up so many more possibilities. The bigg muff and fuzz sim's are excellent. They dont suck the bass away, and you always have the option to mix in the dry signal anyway so no matter what, you always have full control of how much fuzz comes through. Delays/reverbs are not something I really use but they seem to be pretty nice. Again, you have complete control over everything, and although delay and reverb are both turned off/on by the 4th button, you can set one of the function buttons to turn it off too, so its easy to have seperate delay and reverb effects. The tuner seems to be quite accurate. Not really had an issue with it yet. Its responsive enough and you can choose in the options menu to have it either in bypass or mute. Overall this is very much a keeper. There are definately draw backs to it, which im slowly noticing, but Considering it cost the same as my synth pedal and preamp pedal alone, its definately worth putting up with the -ve's. It doesnt have a very good looper, so dont buy it for that, but for quiet practice its ideal (the cabinet sims are ok too). Its got loads of input/outputs on the back so you can connect whatever you want to it.
