  1. A week ago I bought a Fender American Ultra and I can't believe how good this bass is.

I have the Elite Precision (the version before the Ultra). It's a great bass except for the jack input which is a cheapo plastic component which failed a couple of years after I bought the bass new. Remember to always use right angled jacks as mine failed after I used a straight jack and it got knocked by accident.

  2. Considering an Ashdown The Grail 5. That 35" scale is probably a win

  3. I got my Delano pickups for my Yamaha BB735... But I have some doubts now

  4. Yamaha BB605 + Markbass. I'm in love

  5. I'm really loving my short scale Marchis bass. I know it's not a great bass, but I'm thinking about replacing the electronics and the cheap components

Hi Javi, as its not a bass that many people will be familiar with (I think its a 60s bass?) maybe post up some pictures in the Basses forum and ask for advice on pickups etc?

Hi! I think I posted a photo in the short scale forum, asking if anyone knows something about it (since I can't find any info). This bass is a mistery for sure.

  6. I have accepted an offer from a friend to play in his karaoke band. I have to learn like 40 songs for tonight...

It went well. The guys included some songs I had to look for the music sheet or tab on the fly, but it was good. The boss wants me as a regular for the band 😁

I learned about 25 songs for a gig in an afternoon. Wrote out all the chords in the rehearsal room with the band. Drove to the gig, which was about 50 miles away, and realised that I'd left my notes in the rehearsal room (duh!).

The Singer, who also played guitar, wrote out as many of the chords of the tunes as he could in the 15 mins before the gig.

Amazingly, it went all right! They even asked me back.

      Good luck :)

Sounds like a crazy gig hahaha. Good to hear that it went well

  7. Korg monologue incoming. I will start exploring the scary synth territory

Have fun but be warned synth's can be rather addictive, one leads to another!  Also beware levels can change rapidly with filter self oscillations and can damage speakers or your ears!

Thanks! I'll be careful and I'll play with proper protection haha.

  8. The new (Sadowsky-Warwick) Metroexpress hybrid in white is in my mind all the time... GAS is strong

In my experience there are only two things you can do to get rid of your GAS for a specific bass:

      1) buy it

      2) start gassing after a different bass

    2. javi_bassist

      javi_bassist

I tried the second and I have more GAS now :P

  9. The Epi Jack Casady and the Markbass Little Mark Tube are definitely a match ❤️

      BillyBass

Lovely looking basses them...any photos of your matching pair?

    2. javi_bassist

      javi_bassist

Nope, but I will make one haha. I am using the Markbass plugged to my computer. No cab. And the Epi is one of my favourite basses. It sounds too good.

  10. I've just purchased a Markbass Little Mark Tube and I'm too exciting about it 😁

Nice little amps, I really like mine

So Javi, lets have a review then.

I don't have it yet. It is supposed to be delivered today

  11. Everytime I pick up and play my Fender Dimension MP I love it more and more. I have to find a 5 string version.

  12. The Hx Stomp doesn't stop surprising me. Best pedal I ever bought

Just ordered one of these 😀😀

  13. Epi Jack Casady + HX Stomp. What a combo

Is that like putting a fork, a spade and a shovel out and asking someone to take their pick? 😉😉

  14. I'm an amp geek. But I also like to go ampless with my HX Stomp...

    1. DiMarco

      DiMarco

I've been thinking about that too, but would miss those beautiful bass- and guitar stacks on stage for sure. They are just part of the atmosphere required to play rock music.
Saw some modern metal bands on empty stages playing through modellers and it just doesn't sound live to me but more like a produced and mastered product. I hate it!
All of the 'live' charm is just gone.

    2. javi_bassist

      javi_bassist

I totally agree and I also always prefer my amp. But being a hired gun, I sometimes appreciate going just with my bass and HX. I like both, even when they are opposites

Just saying... Kustom made these for years! I think.

  15. Enjoying my HX Stomp. Creating patches, sounds, using new effects... Best investment in a pedal

I feel the same about my Boss MS-3.  Terrific piece of kit and great fun trying out new sounds.  Will be great when I finally get back out gigging.

It's great when a piece of gear inspire you to be more creative.

  16. Been trying different strings. There is nothing like the Dunlop Super Bright

I have one tapered set of regular Dunlops. I also like them (I don't think many people do)

    3. 40hz

      40hz

The best strings out there, pound for pound.

    4. gjones

      gjones

Sounds good on a P bass, for some growl and clank.

  17. I have 9 pedals on my pedalboard. Just 3 of them are effects

    1. SpondonBassed

      SpondonBassed

...the other six are for the three Olympic cyclists that you employ to pedal your entire rig around on a rickshaw...?

    2. Happy Jack

      Happy Jack

I'm guessing tuner, EQ, compressor, accelerator, clutch and brake?

  18. I just removed the Tone Hammer out of my board...and I need it back again

  19. I was asked for the 10th time if my pedalboard was the guitarist's and I was just only tuning...

    1. Rikki_Sixx

      Rikki_Sixx

By a random punter, or someone who you'd expect to know better? Like a roadie, technician, another musician etc.

    2. javi_bassist

      javi_bassist

If it someone in the audience or a friend or someone like that, I wouldn't mind. But yeah, I get asked the question by sound guys, roadies etc. Someone who should know better

  20. So my pedalboard is complete...until I think of buying something else. Probably in the next two days or so

  21. Helix or not Helix...that's the question

Had my LT for a week. Seems awesome, really seems a tool without limits. I've got my first rehearsal in two days and a gig on Saturday - can't wait to play with it properly!

Been gigging with an HX Stomp for a couple of weeks now. No regrets. None at all.

@CameronJ I'll get the HX Stomp once my bass cab is sold.
