  1. never quite got I Saw Her Standing There, can just about do it if I cheat a little, but then, I'm not trying to sing it as well , or play it on a short scale bass
  2. I was convinced the compressor wasn't working on my SMX, so I recorded it and looked at the wav file and it's definitely doing something, subtle in the extreme
  3. no me neither, I'd have said something like "Sorry, when you didn't reply we assumed you weren't interested and got somebody else"
  4. have a Watt on me
  5. What's with the Watts? (below the avatar) Have I missed something, how do they get increased?
  6. must admit I find it annoying when people don't reply, even if it's a "thanks for getting in touch" etc
  7. also the more muso's you've dealt with and the older you get you learn more diplomatic skills as well, me and our singer can have shouting match about something and a couple of hours later it's forgotten, do that with the guitarist and he'll threaten to quit the band, on the whole though we try and stay calm during 'debates' about something and usually manage to reach a concensus that doesn't upset someone too much, I've also learnt face to face is a lot lot better than emails or texts
  8. no, I think the Mods can still see it, but hopefully no one else, but that was always the case I believe, somebody correct me if I'm wrong
  9. this makes perfect sense, try not to fall out you never know what the future holds, and what good does it do really? the two members who left the band I'm in really pissed me off by joining another band behind my back, I bit my tongue and they've both depped for us on two occasions since
  10. sounds like the classic situation where some of the band want to gig more than others for whatever reason, I've been there, it's never going to end well, shame you couldn't depart on better terms, in our situation the guys who were leaving agreed to do the gigs they'd committed too and we agreed not to do any more until a new line up was in place
  11. cheers, I've now been able to delete my duplicate post
  12. I have a MIA P bass and a Squire VM Jazz, I play punk with a pick so gentle I'm not , I've got 2 TE's one an SMX the other one a series 6 and use another at the rehearsal rooms, the gain is on full for them all, I can make the red clipping light come on by boosting the output volume from my Zoom pedal but keep it so the output level is the same if it's bypassed, I thought I was in a minority that's why I asked the question, just wondered if other people set the gain at half way because that seems the sensible thing to do, I used too.
  13. yep, can't see the problem, if you're not in the band for whatever reason why should you have admin rights? when two members quit the band I am in (on good terms)) they reminded us to make sure we remove their admin rights
  14. I suppose this is whether the gain control is to adjust for different levels of bass out put or to overdrive the amp, when he was explaining the overdrive light he showed EQ would effect it, the gain control as I understand it (on Trace Elliot amps anyway) is the first thing in the amp chain so EQ wouldn't affect it, as I said before, I have gain on full and the red overdrive light doesn't come on, any other amp adjustment has no affect on the overdrive warning light
  15. really? I didn't know that, edit, (about the Rumble)
  16. must say I've never experienced this, with several Trace Elliot's and a Fender Rumble or any of the supplied back line amps at multiband gigs, or of course my hearing is so knackered that I can't hear clipping, but on amps I've used with a clipping warning on them (Trace and Ashdowns) it's never shown up
  17. I'm probably doing something stupid but I find it incredibly easy to duplicate posts
  18. have we lost the ability to delete a post? I found this quite useful when I d' said something particularly silly
  19. Don't you have your paradriver set to the same volume as the clean signal? I do that with my Zoom B1on so it doesn't make a difference, volume wise, whether it's on or off
  20. there's a duplicate post, can we stick with this one?
  21. I always have mine full on using a passive P bass (never used an amp where it caused distortion, no red lights on my Trace Elliot SMX head), figuring that I send the fullest signal from my bass to the amp, but I've never seen or heard of anyone else doing this, just wondering what the thinking is behind not doing it, the only thing I can think of is comes from guitar amp gain controls which is designed to cause distortion, not so with bass amps as far as I know
  22. reckon so, quick run round with the vacuum cleaner on a solid state amp and that's about it :-)
  23. I saw them at Bearded theory festival a few years back, felt sorry for the Water Boys, they had to follow them on , I've got the 2 CD's with the new line up, nothing wrong with them, but the first album is a cracker, I look out for them playing near Nottingham but no luck so far, they don't do that many gigs which is probably a good thing, keeps them fresh
  24. dunno, might get the ad more attention and when an amp's being sold the number of times it says "recently serviced", service engineers must be run off their feet
