1. Looks great, only about an hour from me. Hopefully get the band in the studio for a new EP this year - just the rates that scared me [s]a bit[/s] a hell of a lot!
2. I bought a wonderful used one on here from Basskit Case (Mike). First Jazz in ages I've actually liked - the feel, the tone.....I've had a few US Standards, and TBH, I like these far more!
3. Here's a mint Fender bass gig bag. Came with a recently acquired Flea bass - I'm a hard case user, never use these, so it's going to fund another purchase! Immaculate condition, only asking £15. Collection from Romney Marsh in Kent. Cost of sending may outweigh the items value.....but happy to consider if no local takers. Thanks for looking! SB
4. Bought Mike's Flea J-bass - an as-new relic! Super transaction - Mike kept me informed at every turn, and we did the deal in great time. Deal with confidence, thanks again Mike!
5. Thanks DD - I'll give a good bend before using it to see how tough it is. You didn't buy yours from this place did you, the one I linked in the first post? Place seems to have good FB for their products, so I hope it's not a lemon. Only just under £3 all in, so it's not a disaster if so, just annoying!
6. Fab, thanks Roger - appreciated.
7. I've been a bit inactive on here for a bit - but still read with interest every day... ....and I've been a member since 2008! Unbelievable! Many happy returns to ol' BC!
8. I was looking for a simple, plain neck plate for a Jazz. Found these on eBay - http://www.ebay.co.u...~cAAOSw2GlXHzjg I've not got one to measure against to see they would fit. Can anyone help?
9. Sold my US Precision (what else?) to Lozz, colour was black/maple/black (what else!!) A true gent to deal with - payment was instantaneous, transaction super-smooth. Bass couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. Thanks Lozz!
10. One of my faves, too. Very sad loss.
11.
Surprised to see not one song from 13!
Exactly! For a farewell gig, it's shame they seem to admit that it's all about the first 3 albums. As I said, I don't think it is. Far better band than that.
12. +1 again for OBBM. Dave's a great man to deal with, and his cables are just the best.
13. Setlist for final show is on the NME site - http://www.nme.com/n...m-watch-1967589 I've always had time for the Ozzy and RJD albums, some great stuff. I'd have found the tracks chosen a bit disappointing - for a final show. A bit like after all those years of playing, it comes across like admitting that it all comes down to the first 3 albums (with a couple of exceptions) - which I don't believe it does. Wouldn't expect Ozzy to sing Ronnie's tracks, but even for their original albums, it's all a bit obvious. .....and then there's the Bill Ward thing.......
14. Sorry - posted in error, please delete!
15. Just saw this on the NME site. Totally shocked and saddened. A truly influential bassist. Been rightly discussed on here many times over.....a massive loss. RIP JW.
16. Very cool taste in cushions! Nice bass too!
17. Just spotted it's a 4001S, with a different pickup in the neck position.
18. There's an OGWT clip with Barry playing a Ric copy....An Ibanez IIRC. They played 'Definitive Gaze'. Had no idea that he played a real one! Love to know which session that was. I had a chat with their bass tech (via MySpace...That's how long ago) on the Magazine reformation tour, and he was going to ask Barry which basses he played on which albums, but never got an answer! I'm personally not sure what he used....Given the effects, production, and live shots, who knows? He sounded awesome whatever!
19. Got beaten to it on Lemmy, so I'll add Kenny Gradney from Little Feat. Cool as the proverbial root vegetable.
20.
What is your set list?
Ours? We play a mixture of classic rhythm and blues and rock 'n' roll, interspersed with a few originals and a smattering of the obvious (Sally, Sweet Home, Nutbush). We've got a repertoire of about 50 songs, so setlist is always done on the fly - band leader gauges the feel, and we play as such. However, on a night like Friday, there was nothing anyone could do!
21. Quite like a bit of Magazine on occasion - reminder to dig some out! Love 'Secondhand Daylight' and 'The Correct Use Of Soap' - both classics. TBH, I found the other albums a bit more mixed. The Peel Sessions album is amazing - can't recommend it enough. Bass tone on it is also fantastic in places.....the more relaxed and stripped-down feel of the sessions gives them a different feel to the albums. Side note - anyone ever noticed how the track 'Because You're Frightened' is a cheeky steal of 'Disorder' from Joy Division?
22. Depressing gig on Friday night. Pretty empty pub, audience that was there was all male, 55/65 age group. Only time the crowd reacted was a retread of Mustang Sally. This place was rammed before 2010....recent years, the crowds have shrunk. I really don't know how much more of this I can take!
23. Sad news. Great songwriter too - wrote the majority of the 1st post-Hunter album as well. Love Mott, terrible that we've now lost Overend and Buffin.
