1.
I have wanted one of these since playing one in PMT, it's got worse now that they are releasing the Capri orange.
Wowzers. Just Googled that and saw a photo. Seriously awesome!
2. That's very sad. I'm not on FB, so had no idea about this. His discography is massive - just one of those players you'd love to be, with a massive stack of recordings in different genres. He actually co-wrote the Narada track as well, easily one of my favourite lines ever. How very depressing.
3. It's my real name. Have you never seen my cartoon?
4. Poor old Taylor Hawkins appears to be the most hated man on Basschat! Hope he's not a lurker on here......
5.
Very tempted by this. Is the only Flea-branded bit on these the neck plate? Love the look of these but am noooooo a RHCP fan.
I'm the same. Quick change of plate, and it's just a gorgeous Jazz.
6. We've always handed it back as well. Always believe in doing the right thing, even if we do end up with less!
7. Superb bass - whoever buys is in for a treat. Cool price, too. I bought one myself earlier this year....I've never heard a Jazz sound so good...and really light. GLWTS!
8. I had one, gigged it for a year or so. Only reason I sold it, was that when I changed the car, it would fit in (I was aware of this before the transaction!). Loved it so much, in fact, that I replaced it with a Rumble 500 head. I was already using a Rumble 1x15 as an occasion extension cab, so kept that and added a 1x12. You can't go wrong with any of the range - I think they're fantastic. I up the gain, and use the 'vintage' setting, and it's on!
9. Superb musician, amazing works. RIP, HC. Very sad to think that we've lost two pioneers within days.
10. Where I am, no car, no gig! We play usually within a 1 1/2 hour radius....no public transport at night, and even during the day, there's nothing direct. Never something I could even contemplate. I also enjoy a bit of comfort and performance in my transport!
11. His own website appears to confirm this. Very sad indeed.
12. I'm a streamer - legal - from Google play for the last few years. Regularly found the various systems lacked bass. Always blamed the format. Few months back, bought a pair of Audio Engine speakers, combined with a S3 sub woofer. It's totally transformed how I hear digital music. Bass is huge, I'm always turning it down! Can't recommend their stuff highly enough.
13. Flicked through it after watching the first few spots. Soulsville? More like Dullsville to me! I like the original stuff, but this to me came across as cosy karaoke.
14. I keep both of mine in hard cases. Gig in either case or bag, but I'd never store them in anything else at home.
15. I like it as it is, very cool indeed. If it were me, I'd leave as is, and just get on with enjoying it. I think it looks great!
16. I agree. CA was a great way to finish. As for TFE...got it's moments, although I'm not sure how 'Dog Years' made it in! Then again, there's always 'I Think I'm Going Bald'.....!!
17. I've had both. The MIJ was wafer thin, whereas the MIM I had (this was back in 2014) definitely had more of a thickness. In fact, I'd say that the MIM was the better instrument out of the two. Felt nicer, cracking tone. Like an idiot, I sold it on. Bad decision in retrospect!
18. .....oh no they're not! http://teamrock.com/news/2017-08-29/rush-leelifeson-no-new-band
19. I agree. A trio, IMHO, would be a bit too much like Rush Mk.2. It would be great to see them get to somewhere else musically.....and spot on about venues.
20. I think it has changed on here a fair bit, sadly. I joined in 2008. I don't really post a huge amount now, but I do still read daily (and a bit of selling in the MP). I have noticed a more Talkbass-esque trend for posters to jump on opinions or comments at speed, quite often in a confrontational manner. Also (in my experience) less FB being left after sales. Still a great place for the bass community, and things do come in waves. However, there's definitely room for some lightening up out there!
21. Rumours out surrounding the next chapter for Geddy and Alex - http://exclaim.ca/mu...lifeson_project Could be interesting.....I'd love to see them doing something else outside of Rush. After all, Geddy's got about 1,000 basses to try out....!
22.
I play bass like a guitar during the solos in my blues band, probably a result of growing up listening to Jack Bruce on the live Cream stuff.
That's great to hear....you are not alone, FD!
23. I play in an R'n'B trio, and my style of playing has always been quite lead-based (ie I play too much!). In our (blues structured) big finale, I have to take a little solo. I've always been a fan of Noel Redding - ex-guitar player - but his work with Hendrix never fails to impress. Maybe not a bass player in the traditional sense (he is to me, he played a bass), but live, he would play multiple runs and almost solo at the same time as Jimi. Not a 12-bar, but a great example of NR's style, and always a good excuse to post one of the greatest live clips in TV history - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw3UZ_XEkiA
