1. And remind him that when he bought it for £580 a couple of months ago, the original seller was quite clear that it had been built from bits, and didn't say anything at all about a "video shoot". J.
 2. You drop your $400 (excluding postage) on it, wait for a month and what drops through the door is... This. Jon.
 3. The Bitsa That Would Not Die. How many times has he relisted that now? He may have to get used to the idea of making a loss on this one, eventually. But profiteering via Ebay is a learning curve. Quite steep sometimes, it would seem. J.
 4.
1979 (I think) Silver Series PJ, modded with Badass II bridge and Seymour Duncan QP pups.
Interesting, that - I'm pretty sure that's a hybrid, a Silver Series J neck on an older P body. The earlier Ibanez 2369 featured a P/J layout & block inlays but I've never seen this on an SS. The big black oversprays on the body suggest a laminated construction (probably butcher block/veneers) which I don't think an SS would have. I might be wrong, in which case this is a proper rarity - I think you should post some pics on the Ibanez Collectors forum. Is there a serial number on the neck plate? The first two numbers will be the year - although '79 would be very surprising, Ibanez stopped making copies around 1977. Jon.
 5. Be OK if it was £50, for parts. But what the hell possesses people? Jon.
 6. There's no element of truth whatsoever in the suggestion that being daft-shaped means it would cost £30 to post it. About £12 if you used Royal Fail. Jon.
 7. I think this is amazing - wish I had £370 to drop on it! Jon.
 8.
good grief - £2k buy it now! If it is a yr 2000 then thats not exactly a '70's Classic' in my book.
I presume Neepheid means 2 decades earlier than that - 70s/80s! Still looks like very silly money for this. Where's EvilLordJuju when you need him? Jon.
 9. Nice, but not JapCrap (these were Korean) and as far as I know, nowt to do with Bass Collection. Any similarities are purely [s]plagiaristic[/s] coincidental, just like those Ibanez Soundgears. Jon.
 10.
Edit: Is this yet another Korean Satellite neck through precision being sold as an MIJ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/70S-VINTAGE-PRECISIO...=item3a59fbd6db Edit: Or not? What's up with the HB looking extra pickup hole?
That's exactly what it is! Silly really - but if any of these guys knew their JapCrap they could try & punt them as these. Not that I'd sink that low. Oh no. Bloody shame about the Artist - but I had an idea it wouldn't go stratospheric. There's no way of knowing how high the other guy's top bid was, though. J.
 11.
Hi Anyone ever heard of a copy rickenfaker from to 70s by the name of Norwegian Wood? I understand it is a jap copy and is selling for around 900 sing dollars (around £440.00) Can't find any obvious reference on the web.... k
Never heard the name before, but Norwegian Wood will be a brand used by whoever imported it - most of the 70s JapCrap guitars & basses have importer names that are nothing to do with the actual manufacturer. If you have a pic, I might be able to tell you which factory made it, & the price sounds pretty much what you'd expect to pay for a Jap Faker in good nick. Jon.
 12. A bolt neck Matsumoku, with a Special Needs seller. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/rickenbacker-1974-40...emZ320519603645 J.
 13. Do a site search & you'll find loads of stuff about shimming - but in a nutshell, you change the angle of the neck. Just a bit of thin card at the back of the neck pocket makes a big difference to string height. Edit - 'ere we go. J.
 14. I had a 70s Jazz copy for £25 from Crack Convertors & sold it for £120 - ish. But no-one's going to beat that Fodera story! Jon.
 15. Is your bass a JV Squier? If it's '82 I'm guessing it will be. Don't replace your BA with anything that requires drilling new holes - this will damage the value of your bass. If the only issue with the BA is string height, why not experiment with a shim - this is really easy to do, & there are various topics on here describing how to do it. If you do replace the bridge, a Gotoh might give you the same problem you have with the BA - these have a cast baseplate which is thicker than the original Fender "bent tin" jobby, and that automatically means your saddles will be a bit higher. Personally, although I like a chunky bridge from an aesthetic perspective, I've never been 100% convinced they make any real difference to tone... Jon.
 16.
Unusual to see a 3x single coil bass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ESP-Edwards-bass-4-s...=item255a06b4d5 Edit: I can't delete. This isn't 70s/80s, surely.
It is cool though. It's also here. J.
 17.
Does anyone believe the claim that this is a "factory reject" TRC? I can really imagine Rickenbacker selling off their reject TRCs cheaply. Not.
Absolute rot - it's a fake, probably cold-cast resin - which is why it doesn't have the "made in USA" lettering. Watch it get pulled. J.
 18.
4001
Looks a bit refinned & modded to me - never seen a Faker with black binding before & the seller describes it as "ropey". I'm inclined to think it's been replaced - as have the tuners, scratchplate & (obviously!) the TRC. Which is probably one o' them there Eye-talian counterfeits. J.
 19. A low action plus a hamfisted right-hand technique means buzzing, clattering rattling & thwacking are as much a part of my "style" as all the wrong notes. Jon.
 20. I've got an interesting neck I'd put on that Thunder body, if it was cheap enough! J.
 21.
Wonder what this is/was? 70s project
Satellite through-neck P shaped thing. Korean, from about 1980 and (surprisingly enough) nothing to do with Ibanez. I've got one that's a long-term project (which remains long-term because it has a chewed/seized truss rod nut which I can't budge) and they're pretty decent quality. Very heavy, though. J.
 22.
bugger
No problems - I'm not particularly serious about it & my max for something like this would be about £25 anyway, considering the condition & the £20 postage. If you want it I'll happily sit it out & wait for one to turn up at the car boot! J.
 23.
Paws off I seen it first
It's been in my watched list since Thursday night. J.

These come up fairly often, in fact at least one's been sold on BC in the last couple of years. These are actually pretty nicely-made basses with quite a unique style - they're far from being straight copies. I quite like these. J.

Not surprised the seller thinks it's "modified" (it ain't!) - the last one of these I saw was being advertised as "home made" because it was so crude! J.
