I think they're pretty decent, although like all Arias made after MIJ production ceased, they don't fetch much - £70 is probably about right. Probably a good first bass for a guitarist! Jon.
Och, it's just me. I just don't like the look of either, no matter what tone they help impart to the instrument. Didn't the early Warwicks come with those Schallers? I kinda got back to thinking that one reason Fenders sound the way the do is cos of the bridge and I came to appreciate that. Curious about that test you've mentioned: any links?
Pretty sure it was on here a few months ago - a guy did an A/B test with the same bass & strings. I think it came off the back of one of the numerous Badass pondering threads that start up, I've had a quick search for it, but can I find it? Can I bollocks. I'll have another look. J.

Bassassin replied to Bassassin's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I think I'd blame really rubbish listing titles / search term for the first 2 bargains - that and the fact it's clearly just too much trouble to walk to the PO. The Ripper's hilarious - what a piece of junk, it would be an OK fixer - upper for £70, I suppose. The most interesting thing is the bridge - looks like a Schaller 3D Piezo - these go for about £200. Obviously, you'd have to want one first. J. -

Very unusual - not a brand you see in the UK too often. Really like the grain on the body of this. For the morbidly curious, Luxor was a Euro (probably German) importer brand. There was a US Luxor brand in the 1920s but these aren't related. Like most 70s JapCrap J copies this would have had ashtrays originally - it's probably the same bass as this Cimar: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/14/7.jpg The one on the left, that is.

Fine feller, Foxen - just flogged me a cheap neck which I like quite a lot. Jon.

I think this still counts, it is - or rather was - one of those grotesque little Taiwanese Kay things. It got what it deserved: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OLD-BASS-GUITAR-NEED...E-/380248505574 The seller says it needs a miracle. It does. The miracle of fire. J.

I suppose I might as well forget about it now. Frank
If the ad's still running, have a go! J.

This is a new one on me - and that doesn't happen too often! Intriguing looking thing, obviously it's going to be very light, but I'm trying to get my head around the idea of the point of a headless bass that simply transfers the the headstock to the other end - this must be pretty much the same length as most headed basses. That said, I'm a sucker for a weird bass and for vintage JapCrap (I doubt this was part of Hondo's Korean output) so if I had the money (or if it was half the price) I'd be all over this like a rash! :brow: Jon.
Very much Ply inside. Here's a link to the flickr set I did of the TRC, it's got some kind of sticker inside, makes me think of fakery. Oh, and Jon, if you want to see what I did to your wonderful TRC work, I'm about to make a build thread on the Rickenbastard. It might make you cry...
No link! I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done to the trc. And don't worry, takes a lot to make me blub these days! J.
Hmm, the plot thickens - this bass is not the MC30TH, but one from the early 80s - it has the usual exposed pole pieces on the pickups, a dark ebony touchboard, and dark stain - the bass in question has serial G806058 - and an inlay at the 24th fret that says "Limited Edition". I'd post some pics, but can't seem to attach tonight!
Sounds interesting - have you tried asking/searching the boards at ICW? The Ltd Edition thing sounds faintly familiar. That serial makes it July 1980 - 30 this month! J.

That's very nice - and you'll find a fair few vintage Ibby fans around here. Something in the middle of Andy67's price range is a pretty good ballpark figure, I'd think. Your bass is a Roadster RS800BS, like the one in this 1979 catalogue: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/expans...id=42&now=4 Can't go for it myself at the moment, but good luck! Jon.
