  1. I get tired of showing my solid bodied P Bass and J Bass so here is my other Fender a Fender Kingman ABG. This gets very little playtime and I really don't know why I bought it in the first place but I did. It is not the loudest acoustic on the market if you want to play it live without amplification, but it has a cracking J Bass neck and a good Fishman preamp. Made in China which I was sceptical about at first, but after reading on line reviews which were in praise of it I took the plunge. The build quality and sound are both great and it is currently strung with La Bella White Nylon Tapewounds.
  2. And other red tops are anti-Brexit and pro Corbyn. In a Democracy you need to have both unless you want to live in a Fascist state.
  3. Well not really!........Queen are obviously in the headlines at the moment with their new film, and people in general would like to know about the forgotten man.You would be lieing if you said that you are not curious about certain musicians who you don't hear of anymore. There must be some musicians that you like but are no longer in the limelight, and you would like to know what they are currently doing. The Mail has penned a topical piece here, and they haven't slagged him off, they can probably leave that for May and Taylor to do.
  4. I can't see what all the fuss is about! I read the article about John Deacon in The Mail as I get it every day and it was fair piece of journalism.
  5. John Entwistle hated being called a "Bassist", he always referred to himself as being a "Bass Guitarist".
  6. I have tested other single band compressors alongside my Spectracomp and I find tonally there is a huge difference. Though having a HPF and preferably a LPF will help, being able to compress low, mids and highs with a Multiband comp makes so much difference. I see that you only have access to a HPF on your HL which I was unaware of though I did know that there was a HPF on the Cali, but this will only filter out rumble and low frequencies.
  7. I don't think that I could really switch from a Multi band Compressor like the Spectracomp to the Darkglass. Don't get me wrong he Darkglass sounds good, but coming in at that price point and not being Multi band doesn't make sense to me.
  8. I was considering buying one, but I ditched the idea after reading that a number of people have had problems with them. Problems with compatibility using some Power supplies seems to be the most common one.I am going to stick with my Spectracomp which I am happy with, and will be even more happier when they will soon sort out the updated Android app for it.
  9. I think maple on both looks the best, especially on the Natural.
  10. This is why I am put off buying EB Basses. They really need to sort out their business model, I ain't chancing buying one on order I will wait for used.
  11. I had a crazy week around 6 months ago when I purchased every Bass amp/cab available just after they brought out the SVX2 range of Ampegs which included the B-15N Heritage ,V-4B and the SVT V-R and it is those along with the B-15R and obviously the SVT Classic that I use the most. I found it better to use just one Mic especially for recording which is the Dynamic 57 which is based on the Shure 57 because some of the cab settings have two mics as standard which are usually the 57 and a Condenser mic which I think muddies the sound too much. I like some of the effect pedals too like the Ampeg Compressor and well known distortion pedals like the Pro Rat and the OCD. I also get great results running the transformer DI out from my Ampeg PF20-T amp into my interface then using just the cabs in amplitube without their matched amps. The Ampeg cab models are the best but there is an Orange Bass cab and a Trace Elliot which sound great. Just remember to get plenty of input on the meter bottom left and try not to raise the Master volume bottom right only as a last resort. There are plenty of options with Amplitube and some of the Presets are really good, but some of the presets require you to purchase certain pedals, but these can be demoed for 3 days before you decide to purchase or not. Overall I like it and prefer it to Guitar Rig 5.
  12. It will be interesting to see what feedback Ruiner gets from his HH with the dodgy neck. Can you imagine waiting 9 -12 months for a sparkle or Copper HH only to find on delivery that it has a fault like Ruiners and then having to send it back and wait another 9-12 months because that config/colour is a special order type. That would mean a total wait time of 18-24 months to receive the Bass you had originally ordered. Maybe the turnaround time for faulty items is quicker, I will wait for Ruiners report on his situation
  13. It's not as easy as that, I have spoken to several dealers who tell me that the suppliers Strings and Things do not have or are not waiting for HH models in sparkle colours. If you wanted something like Tobacco burst in HH there is a chance as it is supposedly a popular colour. I got a UK dealer to phone Strings and Things to ask them about a Dropped Copper HH and he was told it would have to be a special order and would take 9 months for delivery. If it was me I would demand a full refund.
  14. Seeing as it is a Charcoal Sparkle HH you are probably looking to wait 9-12 months, they will tell you 9 months wait time but 9-12 months is the most realistic timescale.
  15. I have more Maple fretboards than Rosewood or Ebony so cleaning is a doddle as Maple is lacquered and therefore sealed so it doesn't need any fancy products just a wipe over. Rosewood and Ebony are a different matter and need more effort to remove gunk around frets which if left to build up can cause serious problems and does effect playing. Anyway I always wipe the neck of my bass after use and always play with clean hands, applying something like fast fret is good for your strings and neck and is easy to apply, but sometimes leaves strands which have to be removed by hand
  16. I always do my own set up periodically once a year. Contact cleaner on the switches, clean fretboard, frets and body, adjust the truss rod if it needed after all strings have been removed then re-fitted and check intonation. It really is very simple to set up and maintain your Bass and there are plenty of you tube vids around that show you how to do it. The only time I would take it a Luthier would be if it needed fret work doing on it,
  17. I wonder if the HH 1st position bridge pickup only is voiced exactly the same as a single H Stingray?
  18. I think I am going to ditch the idea of getting an HH model and stick to the single humbucker instead. I prefer the look of the single H and after listening to numerous sound clips the first position sounds the best to my ears which is just like having a single H configuration. So I aint going to waste my time and money in ordering a HH when the single H will suffice, and although the HH is maybe useful for recreating a P Bass and a Jazz tone I already own them two basses so an HH is not needed.
  19. I am in the same predicament that you were in.I want a HH but don't want to wait 9-12 months for it to be delivered. I have spoken to all UK dealers and they have said that they are expecting more deliveries from the Supplier Strings and Things inside 3 months and there is a possibility of HH models in different colours which will be part of that delivery as the the first batch of HH's did not include a good selection of colours. I think I will hang on and see how it pans out before getting the wallet out.
  20. Why did you opt for a single H instead of a HH.........I am just curious to know?
  21. Oh I ain't knocking the Bass overall its just the look at the back of the neck and headstock. It looks like someone has dipped the headstock in creosote then taken it out again. It looks sloppy.
  22. I too think that the back of the neck looks very poor and un attractive with the headstock being roasted and the neck not. I know why this is done but looking at one it looks cheap and nasty, especially with a ring around the headstock on the back of the neck which is all over the place........Very poor from EB!
  23. For me its not about the tension, its about how the strings sound. If you specifically go off tension then it will limit your choice.
  24. I could never really understand what all of the fuss is about when Bassists state they cannot play floppy strings or will only use high tension strings. I have numerous Basses that have different types of string tension and I have never had any trouble alternating between a tensioned Roundwound and a so called floppy Flatwound TI. I just don't get it!
