  1. Brilliant!........I cannot understand how you can have a Bass boost on a Passive system though!
  2. I am considering changing my stock pickguard and TRC to Gold. What do you think?
  3. Hey don't get me wrong I love my Classic Stingray and would never sell it, it is just the small niggely things that get on my nerves.
  4. I alternate between the two of them and I do like them both. I did find that in my situation the EBS works better with drive type pedals, and I guess I could get the Spectracomp to work better with them but being lazy I can't be bothered to adjust the parameters. I did try the EBS as a limiter at the end of the chain with the Spectracomp at the beginning but it doesn't make a great limiter and I use my MXR M87 for that purpose.
  5. It looks like they have cleaned the Chrome bridge cover with a Brillo pad..........Bad show!
  6. This kind of look seems to be coming increasingly popular. What do you think?
  7. You really don't need to have special strings on a ABG at all. My ABG came with Phosphor Bronze which gave out too much finger noise, so I replaced them with La Bella White Nylon Tapewounds. The way to string them is to bend the ball end at around an inch to 2 inch angle so it grips onto the underside of the body, with the ball end facing towards the neck inside the guitar Then just locate the pins and you should be good. By not doing this the pins will just fly out when you tune the string up to pitch. The bend in the string will act like a hook stopping it from popping the pin out when tuning.
  8. Oh that's it then, I will take anything you say with a pinch of salt...........🤔
  9. EB Cobalts.......Slightly brighter than Chromes!
  10. Led Zeppelin were the biggest plagiarists in the history of Rock, especially from obscure Blues artists. Ultimately it gives a whole new meaning to "The Song Remains The Same".
  11. I use a Audient id14 which I prefer over my other interface which is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. The id14 has a great DI and better preamps and converters than the Focusrite.
  12. In my opinion that Ampeg is the best rig going........! A Fender P Bass with Flatwounds makes it perfection.
  13. Looks nice! Whereabouts are you in the UK?
  14. LOL........I don't think you know the true meaning of a troll, your'e just playing the troll card. I rest my case!
  15. Go and take a look at the most recent thread over on the EB Forum which proves my point. I agree that you can have a problem with someones remarks if they are false, but if they are true then you have just got to accept it and move on. This kind of thing also proves that there is no uniformity in the manufacturing process at EB.
  16. It would be easier to add a shimm to the neck than getting tools out to correct something that is so small.
  17. They have corrected the weak g string on the 4's, but they still use the same saddles on the Specials where you cannot get a very low action via the saddles. There are plenty of posts about this on the Internet just Google it.I would have thought that you would have known this.
  18. I like the look of the Old Smoothie especially the Chocolate Burst, but its tone just does not do it for me as it is very mellow, very bottom end. I thought that when they brought it out it would be the closest to the original 76 Ray but that is just not the case. You would be better with a Classic to get you near to that Vintage Stingray tone.
  19. I have stated that Rickenbackers have their flaws, but I have also stated that Stingrays have their flaws too. This is not a thread about which Bass has the most flaws 4003's or Stingrays it is about Stingrays being overrated. Obviously with some fanboys it goes in one ear and comes out of the other.
  20. Well the same can be said for other makes of Bass Guitar.
  21. I believed for thirty years all of the rubbish that a Rickenbacker is the worse designed Bass ever built. I finally took the plunge this year and purchased a 2018 4003. There have been improvements to the 4003 with the most important for me being the updated twin truss rod design.I now ignore my Fenders and EB's, as it is the Ric that I only want to play.
  22. Yes I got the Cove Smooth Chrome which has an indentation thumb rest. I also straightened the Bridge pickup. It looks and sounds great, I am glad I finally purchased one.
  23. Any pics of the Ric? I have a 2 band band Stingray Classic that has the usual flaws which I hardly play though I do like its tone. I have just recently purchased a Rickenbacker 4003 which I can't put down and I prefer it over my Stingray. I don't understand how people can dislike Rics they are a fantastic Bass.
  24. This thread is not about Rickenbackers which have their flaws, it is about Stingrays so stop trying to divert away from the subject matter. People can see for themselves if they go onto TB where they can view the 3 Stingray fanboys on this thread who defend EB to the hilt and never admit that there are any flaws on any EB Basses at all. It is trollish behaviour, and we all know their usernames.
