1. Folks, I have just purchased a rather lovely 5 string OLP of the Bay. I will be looking at upgrading it to as close a SR tone as possible, any suggestions? Had a quick look at You Tube and found quite a few upgradaded one that caught my ear had Nordstrands and a pre-amp and frankly the sounded damn close to the real Mcoy. Suggestions welcome!
2. 1) Aria SB1000 in Walnut, 1981 model and was totally mint sold it for £375 in 2000 2) Fender P all black with maple neck (best neck I have ever played) 3) Westone Thunder 1a just because it was my first buy back in 1982
3. From my experience over some 25 years of being in various bands, making ground rules is a real no no, having said that you must all be signing from the same hymn sheet. You need to ask yourself what you want and where you see the band going. It sounds to me like the band or at least one member see's you as a weak link, the fact this rule was cooked up in your absence and without your agreement seems a little convienent and harsh. Ask yourself what you want from a band and if the current band do not meet your goals then leave and start your own from scratch and ensure your new band mates have similar goals and targets to you.
4. Nice playing! I am thinking the Pedulla might be the one!
5. Anyone tried these new (Japanese Made) 70's Fender P's? They look awsome with the block inlay's. If they release an all black/maple one I will induldge! Just seen a guy playing the white version on you tube, the tone is pretty good.
6. I am toying with buying a high end fretless, my heart tells me Wal but my brain (and wallet) are plumming for a Pedulla Pentabuzz. A second hand Wal will cost around £2500 and a Pedulla about half that, is a Wal really worth twice the price my ears do not hear a great deal of difference, I know Mark Egan goes for Pedulla. Any Thoughts?
7. I checked the serial number with the Fender serial number website, the number relates to a Mexican Bass made between 98 and 99. Something not right about this one in my opinion.
8. Bob is a top bloke, recently bought my Duck Dunn. He was the perfect gentlemen. Free Bump Bob...
9. I always loved Simple Minds 'Someone up there likes you' from the 1982 album New Gold Dream. Also theme for great cities From earlier minds (belting bass) My fav is 'Jean walks through fresh fields' by China Crisis from memory it's on the Difficult Shapes album. You can't beat a brassy synth and a bass.
10. Folks, I am thinking of investing in a Roger Waters Sig Bass, I have around £500 to spend on a Fender P and want a all black maple but cannot stretch to a grand for a US. having done a little research (mainly you tube) I couldn't help but be impressedwith the tones on the Roger Water Model it comes with some nice extras like the Seymour Duncan Basslines SPB-3 Quarter-Pound split-coil Precision Bass pickup and a nice brass nut. Anyone got one? played one? Thoughts? Steve.
11. Bob recently bought my Lakland Duck Dunn. He was a top guy and paid lightening fast with excellent polite comms. Will def do again! Cheers Bob!
12. Sold Pending Payment to Bob.
13. Arghh, this is the bass I am after. And your just down the road from me! Please someone buy my Duck Dunn!
14. Price drop to £500.
15. The Hofner not my thing but thanks for the offer. What's the fretless Jazz?
How about my Hofner Verithin + £150.00 cash or I have a Fretless Jazz + cash? Will.
16. Bump, cash? Trades?
17. Ah, I thought it the Sonic Blue one. To be honest I would still want some £300 on top of a Squier or OLP. Trade wise I would be interested in a US Precision Black (With Maple), a Ray or a nice fretless. The price is a straight £500 collected or £535 shipped.
18. Any pics Dave?
19. Currently on the bay, basschatters get priority. Might consider an olp or classic vibe P plus cash?
20. Ok Pics added, just looks like cables to me...
21. I'll take a few photo's, never delved into the electronic side before so any advise would be much appreciated.
A photo of the innards might help Sherlock types on this forum. Did the bass have to be hollowed out at all to increase the size of the control cavity to fit a preamp in?
22. After removing the guard, I am no wiser. There appears no markings bar the numbers 0711. The volume also controls the active/passive switch.
