1. Bump for price drop....
2. Free bump, Martin Kemp is a Wal man these days. Love his playing on Paint me Down - assuming it was him of course ;0)
3. Funny you should mention a proggy gig I have literally just watched Yes 35th anniversary gig on the Arts channel. Very very good.
4. Cheers for all the good advice guys. I took the plunge but there is plenty of life left in the frets. Apart from the odd skuff she is in very good nick. Not sure of the year but by the serial number she is either a late 81 or an early 82 custom. Bloody heavy! But the tones are awesome! A lined ebony neck from Wal is a grand!
5. A cure at last, thanks for that. But do we know why since the site change you can no longer add pics in the normal way?
6. Cheers guy's, literally just taken her out of the hard case so not has a chance to open her up yet. Judging by the link she is a late 1980 or early 1981. My amps are still in boxes following a move can't wait to give her a go! First one I have owned bloody heavy! ;o)
7. I have recently bought a Custom Wal, was wondering how old she is anyone know of a serial number database or a way of finding out? I have a snesky that she is an 1981.
8. I have just bought a Wal Custom which needs some TLC, I may be looking for some advice soon guy's ;o)
9.
Bought a Pro last summer and just had it defretted... Not the best clip (it sounds more boomy in my new house) but it gives an impression.. It's a rather "limited" bass (just volume and tone and a switch) but it delivers the sort of sound I'm after..
Thats a great job with the neck, sounds lovely too! Is that a passive? If so BIG sound.
10. Price is in the title £170 plus courier cost. Condition is good, a couple of skuffs and a small chip off the side but Apart from that pretty good. Still at work, pics as soon as I can. Pm me with e-mail addy for pics if you want them tonight.
11. Edited. Hit the C by mistake ;o)
12. 5 String OLP for sale Lovely rare maple neck and a body just crying out for upgrades. I need to have a wee clear out so a few more cheaper fellows to follow... PLEASE NOTE: The G string is having problems remaining in the nut, a simple string retainer will sort it so price adjusted accordingly. A lovely looker and has some decent bite. Stick a preamp in and away you go... Pics to follow....
13.
Folks, Bought this lovely Fender P (Faked) a wee while back from a fellow BCer and super happy with it but having a clear out of some of my back up Basses. Its a bit of a mystery as its clearly not a Japanese Fender despite attempts by a previous owner to Fake it, having said that the neck is wonderful and the bass as a whole is the lightest I have ever played and would suit someone with back problems. The serial number on the neck does match up according to the Fender Serial Number website with a 90's Fender P but this is not correct. I would say like the previous owner that this is of similar quality and tone to a good Mexican or Custom Vibe. She has a sunburst finish and she has a few skuffs which I will photograph when I get home today. I am looking for [s]£175 [/s] £150 - plus £25 p&p
14. Anyone own a mk1 fretless Wal, seen one for sale for £1500 I am pretty sure they are passive?
15. Free Bump for a beauty, I seem to recall Paul Webb of Talk Talk with the exact same finish (without the pick guard) awsome! I am so tempted but must resist.. must resist...
16. Cheers for that, it's just I see them range from £1500 to £2500. Is it me or are there more of them available second hand these days?
17. can any kind person out there give me an idea of Wal basses and prices. I.e. What is a custom active worth? A Mk1 etc? Second hand prices - ball park is fine.
18. The pedulla are great but rarely come up second hand, pretty sure they are over £2.5k new. Mark Egan plays a buzz, wonderful tones.
19. Thanks for the kind advice guys. I do have a preference for the Tony Franklin, that ebony neck is lovely. Although my TB2000 is a thing of beauty and is perfect for home work it's a pig to play for any duration. I'll have a think over the next few days. Just noticed an Alembic fretless for sale at £1350 arrgghh!
20. I have been offered silly money for my TB fretless so I am taking it and buying another fretless of good quality. Fretless players out there I am toying with potentially getting one of the basses below; any advice on which to go for? Some of these are currently for sale (second hand) and some * would be new. I love the tone of Mick Karn (Wal), Derek Forbes and Tony Franklin (Fender P), Pino (Ray) so something that could do decent justice to playing these would do the trick, I have been super impressed with the Tony Franklin P. Wal Fretless *Tony Franklin P Jaydee Supernatural Fretless 87 *Ray Fretless
21. I have been offered a custom active early 80's for just under two grand, she has some wear to the frets and is not in top condition although electrics are fine. Was just wondering how much it would cost to either defret her or have her returned to great condition by Wal. I could of course ask Wal myself but thought some of the Wal heads on here might have some good advice either way.
22. I love the fretless tone on Paul Youngs No Parlez album by Mr Palladino also his work with Numan (Not sure why Alan Partridge just sprang to mind) Derek Forbes on the Simple Minds Album New Gold dream (A Fender P) and of course JJB!
23. Still not working, feel free to PM me and I'll mail you the pics the old fashioned way...
