1.
"He was born in Bombay, India on 15 February 1951" says Wikipedia .. He's not known as Normfaratu for nothing
Yeah, THIS time round, he was born in 1951, I think he must be on his 20th incarnation. (Cue, howling wolves in the background).
 2. This would be quite nice to have. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=531362 I use to have a 1820 cab, just one 18", it was really heavy.
 3.
ignoring it all? actually i went out last night...sorry i forgot to inform you
He he.
 4. Some great basses there my friend. Love the Ibanez Musician.
 5. Why do you want to trade? Steve.
 6. Nice pair, love the fingerboard on the P bass.
 7.
I've a late 19th century German flatback that I'd consider a swap/trade for
That's beautiful.
 8. That's fantastic, great price, I'd love one, I'd play it upside down (lefty), only problem would be the controls.
 9. I started playing at 19, so a late starter? I wanted to get out of the bedroom and into the rehearsal room ASAP, so I played every day for about 4-5 hours, playing along to all of my records and learning a little theory (anyone remember The Henry Thomas Bass Book with the cassette?). I joined a band after a month of playing, I was rubbish but I was determined to get better. I'm 43 now and still learning and improving. The only way to develop is to play with other musicians and if they are better than you, then that will be an added advantage.
 10. I tried a lot of MB cabs and heads a few years ago, when I was looking for something to replace my Ashdown combo and found the heads really good, the cabs were also quite good. At the time, 2006, the heads were good value but I thought the cabs were too expensive. Now, the cabs are totally overpriced. I'm glad I didn't buy MarkBass back then and the reason I didn't was Basschat. After joining Bassworld, as it was then, I couldn't believe the amount of gear that was on offer in the classifieds, this gave me the opportunity to look for good secondhand deals, which worked out very well for me. In my opinion and to my tastes, there are better cabs out there, especially when you compare prices.
 11.
Through the 2 4x10's I had... it sounded AMAZING! Looking back on it, If only the Techs were as easy to get hold of as the Epifani I have now.
Tell me more.
 12. Good job on the fretting.
 13.
So all the gear came out this morning. Some string changing etc. Always a good excuse to take a picture or two. I've used the TC on 5 gigs now and loving it. Enough power for my needs and the sound is perfect for me. I'm starting to get into the presets now and the footswitch is a must for changing tone mid song. Also tuner reading is located on the footswitch as well as amp. Tecamp have improved on the old 2x12 Tech S/S cabs I think. New drivers are used producing a smoother low end. I only ever us one cab on a gig so one of the 2x12 will live on the south coast for a while for another gigging project.
Alan, that is a good looking, practical set up. How do these Tecamp cabs sound compared to the Techsoundsystems cabs?
 14. I'd get my wife to set fire to it all, video it, then she would post it on Basschat.
 15. Owen, you are yet again so right. When I first heared my 6x10 at TerryKs house, then lifted it up, it totally blew my mind. I had used an Ampeg 8x10 many moons ago, that weighed three times as much and didn't sound half as good. I'd like to hear an SVT through my cab.
 16.
BTW Steve, current evidence on handedness is actually inconclusive, but the general consensus is that it is at least partly genetic. Not trying to be argumentative - just trying to have an intelligent debate, so please don't take it personally. Try this:- Recent research Andy
Very interesting stuff there Andy. I've tried to play right handed and it feels worse than when I first picked up a bass to play (though it is difficult to remember that far back). Anyway, intelligent debate, is what we lefties do best. Steve.

 18.
Hey! Good to hear from you again. The SEI has worked out really well for me - what a lovely instrument. Actually it's at The Bass Gallery right now getting some minor work done. Martin asked if I could remember your details. Unfortunately I have the memory of a goldfish for that kind of stuff so I forgot. Sorry! You might care to give him a call when you get some time. Oh, and no, you can't have it back... it's mine, d'ya hear... mine I tells ya!
So you got that lovely walnut Sei, with the blue LED's? Nice one.
 19.
I was going to go to bed but couldn't resist responding to this post. In the spirit of intelligent debate I will make just a couple of points (think of it as your starter for 10): 1. Instruments - where to buy decent gear; and why we need to pay more for it or else pay vast sums to have it specially made for us. 2. For those of us who teach and who take our job seriously - how to spot and respond when students are properly left handed (quite a big topic, this one); and how to deal with right handed colleagues and fellow players who don't seem able to understand why we can't all just be like them, cos wouldn't it make life so much easier? That do you for now? Nighty night fellow travellers.
Hi lefty, you being the quiz master makes no sense to introduce debate on any intellectual level. Are you making points, or asking questions? 1. Instruments. Decent gear for lefty players is at an all time high. 2 a. Bit cloudy this one, as you obviously take things seriously, you should realise that there is no such thing as "properly left handed" as anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows that the human brain has billions of decisions to make throughout life to determine dexterity. How can an amputee be properly left of right handed in their recovery? 2b. I've never in 24 years of playing music, found any right handed players of any instrument to have a problem with the way I hold my bass. Steve.
 20.
Guys, look at this and nip this war of sides in the bud, if only for the children. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmlQgDuoOr8
I feel ashamed when the video gets to 1:31, left handed spoon, FFS!!!!!!!!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 21.
I know..... FFS. I've never been bollocked for apologising for something I never said before.
Us lefties are sensitive souls.
