2. Very very nice - Lucky man!
3.
If I had this, I would be pretty much GAS free. That's how much I want it HHmmmm T
Ah, Tom - Going for the matching pair, eh?
4. Talking of Yamaha BB's, if all goes to plan, I should have a black BB714BS Sheehan sigature for sale by the end of tomorrow
5. Nice simple design, too. What are you going to call the company?
6. Always nice to see your S2, Steve - Pity it's all backtofrontificated, though
7. Deja-vu? It's an old stock S1 model. Didn't I help you price this on another thread only the other day?
8. Hi Chris, try a bottle of meths with a dash of washing up liquid mixed in. Just apply to a cloth and hold the wet bit of cloth around the string then drag up and down the affected portion of the string.
9. Nope, not an offer from me at the moment As for the hiss, try changing the battery in the active system. Also, check all the wires are attached properly. You could have a loose wire somewhere in there. If in doubt, get a luthier to have a quick look at it for you.
10.
My new S2-Classic headless through-neck 5-string, 18mm string spacing, 34" scale, tulip facing / black pin-stripe / cherry back, black hardware, Front and side red LED's.
Hey Luc, As I said on Statii.com, with your updated pictures of your new S2 5-string, I think Miss.Myrtle has been supplanted as the most beautiful S2 ever! Congrats again
11. Try Thwaites in Watford. They've always had a good reputation.
12. Yes, I had a Shark for a short while - The friend I sold it to is still playing it. Difficult to believe that a passive, single pickup (in the P position) could sound so Status-like. It was a great bass for the mere £500 it cost when it was in production.
13. I almost forgot one of my all time favourite Status designs... The Barracuda. Now added to the poll!
14.
What? being a slapper?
Hey, on the odd occasion I have to do that there funky stuff, I actually get paid good money for it
15. Heh! I had a stained natural wood version of this many many years ago - About 1992 or 1993, I think. They weren't particularly expensive at the time, so how does £200 sound?
16. I have an 80's interview with Jaco where he says he actually pulled them out with a butter knife. I'll scan it later. Also gives details on how he would eq. Works, too.
17.
This is a pretty good demo of why I need a Fender Jazz. Or at least it was until you started that slapping malarky. It's not big, and it's not clever. Enjoy the free bump!
I thought it was highly tasteful, personally
18.
And my not quite finished/started summer P-project, with Rizla, my build assistant looking on
Dave's efforts in training his dog to "fetch the bass" were not as yet yielding the desired results - Will he run out of complete basses before he runs out of patience...?
19.
I bet Rob and Dawn love their son/daughter just as much, if not more than a son or daughter.
I couldn't remember which it was, so I edged my bets, Steve.
20. Yes, it's an Energy 6-string (pre Series 1) and worth around £3-400 is close to the mark - That is if you put the pots back on. No one's going to buy it without any controls Colledge, back when Status were a little larger (involved with Trace Elliott at the time), they produced a cheaper range of wooden necked models like the Shark, Energy, Groove, Eclipse, etc. (As well as the Trace T-Bass.) When Rob separated the company & went solo, the remainder of the cheaper bodies were fitted with graphite necks. That's why some of the Energys became Series 1's & there are a couple of Grooves with graphite necks, made from left over bodies. There are a few interesting parts basses around, like the Shark Proactive Rob made for his son/daughter. That one's been for sale on here a couple of times.
21.
That is truly gorgeous. I have a US '75 reissue and I've just bought a Fender classic '70s jazz. If I hadn't just bought the classic '70s I'd be offering to trade for my US jazz plus cash for this based on looks alone!! A close escape...... next time it appears, I think I might have it. Sorry you have to sell such a beautiful instrument Rich. Another of my pointless posts, but at least you get a BUMP. I wish you good luck with the sale. Frank
That's typical - I'd have liked a US 75 Reissue as well!
22.
i have dreams about a red jazz a bit like your one, unfortunately £1500 is only in my dreams too! But wow, it looks great
Good job this one is only £1400, then - Think of the hundred pounds you'd save by buying it! (Mrs.OTPJ's logic at work! )
23. Quite correct, gentlemen - The original Status 5-strings with the single block brass bridge were all 15mm spacing and the new monorail models are usually 18mm. The modern versions can be ordered with 16.5 like the KingBasses, though.
