I want to bump this sale. Can't speak highly enough of Lars. I nearly bought this, but something came up. He's a very straight up guy, and a mean player too! I think he wouldn't mind if this didn't sell, which suggests to me that it's gunna be a great bass for whoever might buy it. Recommended, best of luck with the sale mate. And sorry it didn't come to anything.

Would you fit a J Retro preamp into a vintage jazz bass?
fingerz replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Accessories and Misc
I echo the other comments Re value. As far as I know the East plate will go straight in the hole you have, so it's reversible if you do ever want to 'undo' the work. For me, a good jazz bass is all about how it sits in the band. I've had all the trimmings active basses before that a Jazz has blown out of the water when you listen in the context of a live gig or a recording session, they sit really nicely on the hole. If it's in this context that you feel the bass is lacking, then I'd say go for the change. If it's a head to head bedroom test, then I'd be a bit more apprehensive. An outboard pre is not such a bad idea in this sense if you fancy something less permanent.. BTW, you could wire any after market pre amp into a box to have an outboard preamp and take your pick! John East is a great guy, the Glockenklang Preamp might be worth a look, wire it into a box, best of both worlds... ?? Good luck in your procrastination.. -
Can you be more specific? Why this song happened? Because they have a new album coming out and this was a teaser for the fans. As much as I love Zender, I have to admit that Paul has been doing a fine job and I'm looking forward to hear his stuff on the new album. Plus he uses AC
What I mean is that I feel there is so much more potential than this. i don't mean to offend you. I look forward to the album too as a fan, and based on the band as a whole, only wish to support what they do/have done. They have the ability to do epic songs, and hope there are some on the album. I want to make clear that I am not comparing Zender to Paul Turner (Sounds like you think I am, so wanna clarify cos I hate that thing where players get played off against each other). Paul Turner is a bad ass, and nice guy. I meant that the band is what got me to pick up the bass when I did, years ago, and have transcribed every note since! (the fact Paul uses AC is besides the point! - He gets a great sound out of his basses though, wow!)

Man, I love jamiroquai. Zender is the reason i switched to bass... The first two albums are classics and I used to live on their music. But this is a pretty tepid song for a band who are supposedly 'free' from the shackles of big label dictatorship.. I think JK is a very very clever guy and they ARE a great band, but why has this song happened?! (IMO - of course!)

Pickup for Yamaha TRB MkII

Hi, I've just found this and don't think I'll ever use it as the TRB doesn't come out much these days + rare to get any Pup probs. My old Pick up had a problem, I had to buy another one from Yamaha but when a good friend and dealer mentioned my problem to his Yamaha rep they supplied me another one as a gesture. Really good of them. Anyway, I have this one sat around doing nothing so might as well sell it. Never fitted, as new in bubble wrap! Might be of use to you? -Bridge position pickup, 4 string TRB mkII type -Humbucker I'd like £40 for this + postage. If you need a photo I can put one up, or email. It's as new. Thanks a lot.
Do you have anything planned for up north... I'm in Sheffield, but would probably take it if you can meet at least halfway. Let me know
I'm doing a stint up North this week actually. I'll be going as far as Loughborough area (yet to confirm exactly where) to meet with rest of guys on Friday. Also am gigging in Loughborough on Sat where I'll be able to meet early evening if that's better. Next time would be 23/24 July after that. I'm happy to hold on to it after receiving payment if you don't want to loose out for logistical reasons. There are a few guys on here who can vouch for me. PM me your phone no if you're seriously thinking about it, probably worth a phone call! Thanks.

Yeh 51m0n - I remember working my ass off for an amp when I started gigging. It wasn't my amp of choice, but loud enough to play with a drum kit. Bad karma if you go and do gigs and don't own your own gear to do so! Do these people even exist??!!

A lot of the time, venues don't want to hire a back line (this can be v cheap) but want to put on a night with loads of bands with quick turn around between acts. I've done gigs in the past where as a headline act you are 'Expected' to set up your gear and let others use it. No phone call prior to gig (prob cos they're scared of a 'No, you sort it' response) to make sure it's all clear. I always hated lending my amp (that's just me), but more felt anger towards the venue for not offering to acknowledge any inconvenience (wear and tear, lifting/set up, potential damage, getting there first, leaving last) to the person who's amp is being used. You have basically, more than being generous, given them a service for the night and saved them money. So often they arrogantly ignore this like they are doing you a favor by letting you play. A few dings, scratches and clipping amps later - I never lend my gear as a rule. And wouldn't expect someone to lend me theirs. I am pro now so it's kinda different - if something happened to my amp I wouldn't eat!! But there's something fundamentally wrong about venues blagging back lines off bands. You shouldn't hate on the other bands sharing the night tho. It's the venues who are generally slack and arrogant. If we made them think more, we could all turn up and use their gear for this sort of gig where loads of acts are playing. Happy days

COLLECTED THIS MORNING***** SOLD ***** THANKS A cab that needs no introduction. Very portable, loud cab with loads of natural bottom end. Spec: 4x10" Speakers HF Horn (100 watt) 4 Ohm 1000 Watt power handling Weight (catalogue): 63 lbs, when these came out they were quoting around the 57 lb mark! Easy for a 1 person lift.. This is one of the earlier models, as it has small holes in the grill (more recent cabs have larger holes). According to lots of guys in the US this generation of earlier Series 2 cabs were lighter than the current UL410's they are producing. It is in great condition, even the plastic corners are virtually unmarked. It's been well looked after. I bought this cab second hand as it was immaculate and I haven't put another mark on it since then. I purchased this as a loud second cab to use instead of my old Epi 310 on the occasional large gig. My 310 still goes pretty much everywhere with me for practical reasons, and paid work is more unpredictable than ever at the moment, so reluctantly need to free up some cash . I have used it for about 5 gigs, it's silly loud. If you're looking for an Epi UL 410 you won't find one in better condition than this I'm sure. Pics attached for your perusal. SALE PRICE: £525.00 firm. Collection would be ideal, from Bucks. I'm happy to bring it with me to any gigs I am doing that might be near you and meet that way. I'm very reluctant to ship/post but if that needs to happen and buyer sorts it all out I might be persuaded. Thanks a lot, Jo 07719154668

How does the 34" compare on the 5 string?. Is it purely a physical preference or does it effect sound? I know his B strings are rock solid so I'm sure there's room for movement in that respect. Lovely looking stuff as usual..
