  1. I used to pay for all my basses to be set up and the main requirement I asked for was for the action to be as low as possible, very few came back lower than 2.5 - 3mm , and I ended up doing it myself ,so I now do all my own setup’s with the exception of fretwork or work on the nut, which I’ve never had to do
  2. That’s what I said in 1982 when I bought my labella’s 😁
  3. I think with the rm all they could do is brush the dust off the fan and check that no wires are loose, that’s all Dave did to my older ABM, and he said it didn’t even need doing 🙂
  4. That’s impressive ☝️
  5. Really 😲, a friend of mine plays that, I can’t get anywhere near it , I get lost after about 20 seconds 😁
  6. I’m not a fast player and I’ve never really wanted to be, but a few years back I set about learning a few funk tunes , and I quickly realised that I couldn’t play them unless I learned to play faster, I worked on a few videos from talkingbass, about speed and stamina, and within a few weeks of a couple of hours each night I definitely improved, speed exercises are a good thing to add to your practice routine .
  7. I’ve never had a Ray, but if I was looking for one that would probably be it, perfect colour and birds eye maple, lovely
  8. I’ve got Daddario half rounds on a Yamaha I bought, I was going to put my normal flats on but they sound really nice, they do the lows well and are considerably brighter than labella flats , also nice and smooth
  9. I’ve been to see Dave many times, he’s a very helpful guy, that’s great service fretmeister, glad you got it sorted
  10. I know these are referred to as rubbish and they probably are compared to today’s standards, but my one was in the loft for about 25 years with no case and one day I got it down and plugged it in and it worked, the jack was a bit crackly but other than that it was fine, and the truss rod still works, they are quite fun to play 😁
  11. Any idea what bass Robbie is playing here, I’ve never seen him play this one
  12. Cruising through Whitechapel listening to matumbi
  13. I didn’t have time this morning to clear it, I’ll try and get an uncluttered pic later 😁, the vices and drawer are handy
  14. A bit late and Excuse the mess I’ve been rearranging the workshop , but this is my bench

That’s really nice, I’ve been looking at those lately and there’s not many around with the maple and black blocks
  16. I’ve seen them sell for around the £100 mark which is a bit more realistic, probably bought by someone for nostalgic reasons 🙂
  17. Yeah just looked, your right, not my thing either
  18. I’d agree with that
  19. A bit of rockers from Derrick Lara , around 1980
  20. I’ve shown it before but one of those was my first bass in around 1978, second hand for £30 😁
  21. Looks like a jedson telecaster style bass 🙂
  22. This is from their website 😁, Eastbourne, where you at? Get yourself down to the dance on 17th April 2022 for dub sirens galore and those nourishing rolling basslines. Tickets available
  23. Another colour I haven’t seen before, tequila sunrise , 12” radius fingerboard too
  24. I haven’t tried those, I’ve had a set of addigio flats on on one of my jazzes for about 7 years, they were only about £10, really nice strings, I’d say they were medium tension
  25. I’m just watching Bob Marley-catch a fire again, I taped it about a year ago on sky arts, not sure if it’s on YT, but if you get a chance it’s a good watch, lots of Aston Barrett footage
